This is amazing. You took a broken, discarded toy and turned it into an excellent custom that is better than the original Kenner product. You are a wizard, Dave!
Thanks. And thanks for sending in the broken remains. It's been great fun fixing this up and making a simple custom from it. So much can be done with broken toys.
I absolutely love this custom! It really takes this very simple piece to the next level. The simplicity of the work is the best part. Thank you for sharing, Dave!
Wow that's absolutely amazing and you're so humble 😮😮 very talented indeed not many people could do that or think about doing that, very impressive indeed 😊😊
This is a super cool conclusion to the original video. The lights & stickers are incredible, but just the bottom adds so much to the toy as I always found it very cheap feeling without one, and magnets are a great way to attach it. Also, I was wondering if you've ever considered doing a custom Boba Fett with a shooting missile?
Thanks. Adding the back does make a big difference to the block. It just feels more sturdy. I haven't ever converted a Boba fett, but it should be fairly easy to do. I'll look into it. Cheers
Very impressive work! Got a lot of great ideas from this one as well. Might try this one myself at some point down the road if I can secure another Han block. I was a bit surprised at first that you didn't use a slide switch, sticking out the side of the block that you could turn on without removing the back panel, but your solution was definitely a more elegant one so that nothing is visible on the outside. Smart. Love these videos TP!!!
Absolutely top notch video. Those little battery packs and switches look like they could come in handy for all kinds of custom stuff. Phenomenal work. As always thanks for the video, knowledge, and enjoyment.
The light looks great, your custom projects are my personal favourite of your videos. As a suggestion for the stand, how about using the same trick they used in the first movie on the sand-speeder? Angle a small mirror downwards in front so it reflects your base and hides the stand. That's apparently how the got the floating effect against the sand.
Love this! Hey Dave, if you wanted to make they project look a little bit more interesting still, what about adding a little bit of highlighting detail to Han, just to make him stand out a bit more? Like, maybe a tiny little bit of drybrushing with some silver paint or something like that?
I've made similar illuminated creations for tabletop gaming . . . one thing I've found useful for creating illuminated color is using colored tissue paper that is folded over to give the right thickness to allow light to show through.
You could even customise the last 17 block by blacking out most of the inside apart from Han and put a red flashing light inside to look like he’s defrosting
‘Pointless/silly’!, what are talking about Toy Polloi? That’s an excellent thing. I would love Hasbro to make something like this. I’ve always thought that the Retro Collection could have an improved aspect, for example Chewie’s bowcaster could actually have the cross bow element or even a blue saber Farm Boy Luke release 👍
Dave, that looks freaking AMAZING! What a great job! I know you've made looooots of capes. Have you done one for Lando? I thought you'd made one for Boba Fett... or was that for the 12" fig? Regardless, I'd watch you make another!
Lovely to watch a master at work! Some great tips there. I'm guessing this is the block that came with the Slave 1 rather than the Han Solo carded figure? as I haven't got that particular one.
Great job with effect of the lighting on the Han Solo carbonite block. I have been wondering about the Space 1999 Eagle 1 toy if you worked on one and how rare are they and can they be found today?
Love these videos. Q @toypolloi can you bend styrene sheets to make arches? I am thinking of using it to make arched roof for Cantina booths? Have you ever tried? TIA.
@@toypolloiThank you for the reply! I also want to thank you for the Death Star beam repair tutorial. I have to say that it’s one of the most satisfying toy repairs I’ve ever made. They really are as good as new. 👍
