The spruce top sounds a but brighter, as you'd expect. Not a huge difference - I prefer the middle mahogany instrument. To my ears a richer sound. Thanks.

Like the harpika, this instrument is a plucked psaltery. They were invented in Persia, aka Iran, and were very popular in medieval Europe. They are still popular in the Middle East, Mexico, Eastern Europe, and Mexico.

You have a wonderful voice and perfect english! I really want to speak like you! You are flawless 😍It is only a different type of wood but I think it has some slight difference in tone but it can be only my imagination!

Your hearing is obviously much better than mine. I suppose there would be some difference, because mahogany guitars and spruce guitars have different tones. But the Hanago is so small, and I thought they sounded the same. Thank you for the compliment! I'm flattered! 🥰❤

To me, they all sound good enough to make me happy with not too much difference. Plus, if ran through a music program, you can really make the dynamic sound of them change so they're all perfect. When it comes to looks, I like the lighter one, but it might get quite dirty if I carry it around where I want to play it, but it's also easier for me to find if I happen to sit it down somewhere. 😁 All I know is I like this instrument, and will likely pick one of these up too along the way. Nice demonstration my friend! They sound really nice! Thumbs-up! 👍 👍 🔊 🎶 🎵 🤔🧏‍♂️💡

I'm picturing how the mahogany ones would blend in perfectly in the woods. It makes sense that the lightest one would pop up. If you're visiting the desert, would the lighter one be lost in the sand-colored terrain? (I have no idea! Never been to a desert, lol)
@LoneTreePeak
@LoneTreePeak Год назад
@Samantha on Mars Haha that's a great point about the desert and I'm not too sure yet about the color of the sand in that terrain. It could be the case, but I'll have to just keep better track of things. You'll be surprised on the things we've lost out there on hikes, packing up and all the rest, but I wouldn't let that stop me. Are these available now? 🤔
@SamanthaonMars
@SamanthaonMars Год назад
@@LoneTreePeak The Kickstarter campaign has launched. The thing with crowdfunding is you don't get the product right away, so it may not make it in time for your desert trip.

@Samantha on Mars Oh I see, I can still pick up a Lyre Harp before then and will probably pick the bowl one. The weather is really weird right now and I'd hate to get caught up in a rough sand storm, so I'll have to see what happens first. 🏜 🌪

I think spruce is a little bit Brighter. But for my tastes I'll stick with mahogany because the color 😂 BTW thanks for the sound test. Because I'm looking for one for mine on kickstarter this really helps me to choose 🌞

Hi Ambar. I notice the Harpika too. They're gaining popularity in lyre harp communities, and I often see them on RU-vid. As you said, they're a cross between a kalimba and a lyre. I think they're great for those who wants to transition between these two instruments!

Can I have your opinion for "Harpika"?
@SamanthaonMars
@SamanthaonMars Год назад
The Harpika is another beautiful instrument. It's a kalimba but with strings, and I think it's a great way to introduce kalimba players to the lyre! The strings on a Harpika are arranged differently compared to the lyre. I imagine lyrists would need some time getting used to it at the beginning.

I missed the Kickstarter, will this still be available for international shipping? I just love the idea of having something that comes close to a lyre but is chromatic. I'm just so sad to have missed the chance to get one 😭

Hi! Thanks for your comment and interest! At this moment, I don't have any plans to create tutorials specifically for the Hanago. Since the Hanago has 16 strings like my lyre harps, and they cover the same range, all of my tutorials can be applied to the Hanago as well. I hope that helps. :)

Mahogany is best!!!
@DonsArtnGames
@DonsArtnGames Год назад
VERY subtle differences... the mahogany does sound a TAD bit fuller, but there is a somewhat noticeable gain in amplitude and brightness with the spruce as should be expected. I think I'll go with the lighter mahogany. The spruce is a bit too bright for my taste, and the volume gain is practically negligible to compensate for the extra brightness in sound. Thank you for the demonstration of the three options. I can't wait for the surveys now

Hello I have a question. I'm interested in buying a lyre but I noticed that not many do covers on it with tabs available. I play the kalimba and tabs for different songs are available most of the time. Since both of them are pretty similar, it would be okay to use kalimba tabs when playing the lyre? Sorry if this might seem like a dumb question.
@Michael-bv4kv
@Michael-bv4kv Год назад
Only if the song has no sharps or flats. But whatever you do, never buy a 7 or 10 string lyre. Go with a 16 string or better because we no longer have music around for anything below a 16 string. Maybe a song or two but nothing substantial.

Hello. 👋 Kalimba tabs would be fine on the lyre. Substitute 1 for C, 2 for D, 3 for E, etc. For people learning a new skill, no questions are dumb. You're already one step ahead of people who don't even bother to ask! Keep up the good work!

The strings on the Hanago are tuned the same as a kalimba so kalimba players have an easy time learning it.
@SamanthaonMars
@SamanthaonMars Год назад
@@leighharwood3886 Their orders are different though. Kalimbas have the lowest note in the middle, and then spread out alternatively on each side. The Hanago is arranged like a piano, or a harp. The notes go up / down in order. The Hanago also has the ability to play sharps and flats, which I think is a genius design 😃
