the loud footsteps are actually on point, when it's those types of halls in an empty school, trust me everything is gonna echo especially the type of shoes Japanese girls where to school, if she walked light enough to be unheard then she'll be moving very slow
It's probably because Japanese horror often focuses on the psychological type of horror, while most of the world just sets on putting you in a situation with scary monsters, Japanese and psychological horror in general purposefully messes with your senses while at the same time keeping up with disturbing imagery or situations, which don't necessarily have to include monsters like we see here
For me, it's the cultural differences. That's why I like foreign folklore and urban legends in general, but especially from slavic and more eastern countries. (I'm from Austria.) They're so outlandish and weird, which is exactly what makes good horror to me. The monsters are usually more interesting as well. (Unless it's another long-haired ghost girl.) When I first watched Dread Out, I found the monsters to be really interesting. I was actually trying to get into Austrian folklore but it's hard to find anything for some reason. I know that it exists, because we've read stuff like Der Basilisk in der Schönlaterngasse in school.
I'm pretty sure you don't play as a guard? I'm pretty sure you play as a Japanese high school girl. Since usually, a security guard has a flashlight, but in this case, the two school girls give you the flashlight. So, i'm pretty sure you play as a student.
@@breezek-pop5392 Fair, apparently my lack of sleep got the better of me and made me somehow ignore ALL of that like an idiot lol, I'll fix it real quick
A lot more forgiving than the other games. You can repel the enemies, you get a tutorial, you don’t need to squirrel away a boatload of resources in a “safe” room because your inventory space is so small
Yeah I have to agree. Admittedly I think the kind of atmosphere and lighting it has compared to the other games, as well the enemy designs, makes it more spookier for me.
Same, had to visit a school in Indonesia as a student exchange program. Let's just say I had to hold it in until I went back to my hotel room. :( I'm too used to western toilets.
I like to imagine the main character as this giant lady that doesn’t give snu snu but DOES trot along with wide and loud footsteps singing “tralalalalaaa” in a deep voice, as she figures out all the puzzles without knowing what she’s doing.
man, ABG, you must have a phenomenal sense of direction. whenever i play games like this i get lost so easily but you always remember where something is!
That boss fight with Hanako is definitely taking me a few attempts before I can stay calm when seeing her rushing towards me like that. She's somewhat predictable but still terrifying.
Yup, I was also amazed and utterly terrified by the impeccable rushing/ravaging animation the authors did for Hanako in this fight. She really projects absolute terror. No AAA game shit, just good ol' fucking design.
"Hey, Miho, wanna grab a bite after school?" "Love to, but the spider-head demon's chasing me through the halls today, and my roster says I got a 40 percent chance to get ambushed by a tentacle monster on the way home." "Damn. Bad month, huh?"
"Some ghost keep hogging the mirror while I apply make up. The damn lady is such an attention seeker. And dont get me started on Hanako occupying the last stall of the bathroom again"
"Hold shift to run. But be careful, some enemies can hear you." How are enemies not supposed to hear those LOUD footseps the character makes all the time?
After staring at the monitors for suspicious activity without anything happening for hours...trust me...making rounds in the dark with a flashlight and a walkie was the best part of the job. The pay is shit though
As someone who has played the game already, gonna guess there's no way you got that thumbnail without editing. In which case I must say very good job. It looks fantastic.
You know, a lot of mainstream RU-vidrs are complaining about the indie horror scene being dry and playing ALL of the same games but your channel is proof that they just aren't looking in the right places. Awesome.
"Mainstream youtubers" you already know the type of games they play and the market for their videos. You'll always find gems within the underground/indie music , movies, and sometimes video games too.
My clock here is 7:15pm and I shouldn't be watching these stuff cuz I might have a bad time on sleeping. I'm 15 but I just have this level of fear ok? It's not that bad since I'll fall asleep in less than an hour after.
23:23 this is why i have a love/hate relationship with japanese games. they are good games and they always know how to scare you. But damn this is so fucking scary
@I'm not a racist because I'm not white Wasn't Silent Hill made by the Japanese, even PT because Hideo Kojima worked on it? I dunno chief, seems like you didn't do research on that last one.
@I'm not a racist because I'm not white Silent Hill, PT are Japanese horror games Konami developed them. Sounds like you have a problem yeah this one really isn't scary
This game probably a tribute to a horror Japan movie Hiruko The Goblin, its also inside school with similar looking monsters in this game. Go check it out!!!
Wow, finally a horror Japanese game after Fatal Frame! Seriously, I really hope there will be a decent developer who’s willing to make Fatal Frame in VR! Heck, I even want it to be in PS5 as well!
@@Somespideronline yeah, i heard that most of goetia demons can be truly scary, like asmodeus or belzebub(for people that get scared by insects) that is a giant gluttony fly
If you think that school bell music is creepy, you should just listen to the Uramikko horror game. It has the most creepiest school bell music ever; Along with the girl creepily humming and singing the song.😀
This is an exceptionally great horror game. The monster designs are creative and horrifying. The only thing that takes away some danger is the light-combat, but that´s only to those that are good with horror anyway. Kinda hope John Wolfe would play this.
Oh this is the one those tubers were playing, good stuff as always This is also the channel i first discovered Helltaker back back back then before it was filled with goats. Yeah i know the last statement is irrelevant but ABG spotlights good games unlike certain companies that show GOTY which is actually not worth your buck
unnerving, I would say. yet another great game play, alpha beta gamer!! I binge watched every single video and re-watched some of my personal favorites, you saved my 2020! ^____^
