In this video I detail my process for hand carving a guitar neck, predominantly using a spokeshave and relying on rasps and knives for refining the shape. I am carving a soft v profile, which is less familiar to me and so I also talk about laying out that profile and translating it into the neck as it is carved so that the profile of the neck can match the sketched profile a builder might be working from. if you are interested in learning more about building guitars with hand tools please subscribe to my channel and check out my web page for one on one class/consultations I offer and also to see a little more of my finished work. www.queencityguitars.com/work...
Thanks for watching!
If you liked this video, I would greatly appreciate it if you would consider making a small contribution to my channel. It takes a lot of time to make even a simple video in my workshop and just a few dollars here and there really helps me to continue making these in the future. You can send a contribution directly to me through pay pal here paypal.me/QueenCityGuitars thanks!

I'd be interested in seeing as many processes that you would be willing to share. Thanks

Hey Chris, very sorry for the very late reply. I actually bought both of my spokeshaves together on an ebay auction, and I could not definitively tell you the brand. It prominently informs you that it was made in England. I'm not much of a collector and so I am no expert on identifying vintage tools, but I think it is an old stanley 151 with a round sole (it lacks any 151 or stanley marking though, so I dont know). It has been a few years since I bought mine, but I would imagine they are still available and affordable on ebay. I do not know who is making nice spokeshaves with adjustment screws currently, other than Veritas. I have never used their spokeshaves, but I have also never been disappointed in the quality of any of their tools and imagine it is on par. As a side not, the flat shave without adjusting screws I own looks aesthetically very similar. It however is branded Globemaster, and was apparently made in West Germany. I do not use it as much, but I have never had a problem with it, excepting the more difficult set up experience.
