You guys love to do these kinds of trips where your living naturally and not in some fancy resort. Although we as spectators have seen both the fish camp atmosphere is always the best. Nothing fancy and everybody can tallk loud and relax anticipating a good meal. Catching the Halibut is a delicacy and the other fish is really a delicacy which you have to dive for just as lobster. Glad you all are taking us to the outer banks of the world. We're very lucky to be able to go along for the ride.

Great video Gabe. The photography of the dive and your showing of all the diversity of life underwater was phenomenal. I'm Italian so we eat a lot of Octopus. You didn't do too bad. They are naturally chewy and even cooking them perfectly doesn't change that.

We always baked them on a pine board after marinating then in italian salad dressing with some hot peppers and salt and pepper. When they got tender we threw them away and ate the board.

Here in Saudi Arabia, we do not eat octopus, but when I was in China, I used to eat it boiled, and since I loved it, I started catching it in Saudi Arabia and boiling it without grilling. It actually tastes good. Thank you Gab for these great videos Keep filming

Around the Mediterranean we cook octopus alot, you should keep hitting it on the rocks first like just smashing it, then you boil it for 15 mins, and after that grill it with olive oil and garlic. The key for being tender is just smashing it continuously on the rocks....thats what we do in italy, Greece, and lebanon. Nice vid bro

Born and raised in Kona, Hawai’i, I usually eat everything except the beak, eyes and guts. To tenderize it there a couple of ways that I found works good. First is cleaning it... i gut it and remove the beak and eyes. I pound and rub it on the lava rocks Numerous times to remove the slime and tenderize it. You can also clean it first, put it in a Colander. Cover in coarse rock salt and massage the whole thing until all the slime is gone. Then rinse out octopus. Dry it with paper towels and freeze. Freezing it will tenderize it also. Next you can try after cleaning octopus, simmer it in salted water. The longer you simmer it the softer it gets. An hour or two is good depending on the size of the octopus. And last after cleaning, put it in a Instant pot for 30 minutes with a little salted water. Done ✅. Hope this helps. 🤙🏾

You need a real Cork in the pot when you boil it. I’m a chef and that the way it get so tender. There’s some type of chemical reaction that happens with the cork is in the water boiling with the octopus

Just cook them a little longer, at least 30 min, then more if necessary. Massage them in salt first then dip them in in the boiling water like you would if you were candle making just 2-3 times and the tentacles will be straight instead of all tangled up. Then cook for approximately 30 minutes. That will help the texture. Go out and get another one and experiment.

When I was stationed in Rota, Spain(Navy), octopus was always on the menu, absolutelylove it!!! They say, boil 15 to 20 minutes per pound for the "pulpo"... fun video!!!
