In this video I restored an old rusted hand cranked drill.

The hand drill was in pretty bad condition and one handle was missing, but it still worked.
As always I started with disassembling and it took a little while. I cleaned all parts and brushed rust and the old paint away with the wire brush. Some of the parts were very hard to brush so I asked “Mister Patina” if I could use his sandblasting cabin. Luckily he said yes and I am very thankful for that! After that I brushed the sandblasted parts and painted them. The gear parts and some others got cold bluing. The drill chuck got a nice mirror polish.
I didn’t want to use the old screws, because I thought that brass screws would look very nice with the green painting. So I bought a couple of them and rounded them.
As as I said one handle was missing and the other one was in very bad condition. So I made two new handles. This was probably the most challenging part, because I have no lathe yet to make new parts.. but it turned out great and I am very pleased with the result!
And that’s it!
It was a very fun project and I am more than happy with the result!
