It's a standard 4oz core burn BP tool set from Skylighter that I got close to 15 years ago. www.skylighter.com/collections/rocket-kits/products/4-oz-black-powder-rocket-kit
nice work bro! your rockets are great! what delay composition are you using? my rockets don't use delay composition. just some solid fuel about an inch and a half thick. I make 1 pound rockets.
In these 4oz motors with the crackle star and Ti tail I just use a slower BP mix, the one I'm using is just a no milling screen mixed 65/25/10 with 50/50 air float/ 80mesh charcoal. Otherwise I use Winokur # 39J. I used to make some 1 pounders but its been years. Those are a lot of work hand ramming. :D
I'm not 100% sure, Potassium nitrate can cause oxidation of aluminum in the presence of water, But in this application I have no clue. Too fine of an aluminum and it may speed up the burn rate as well. A firefly AL might be interesting though. I like my bright white Ti sparks though :D
Its something you have to test with each batch you make really. There are just far too many variables, generally though 1-2 ounces. I'm sure using various different rocket building tricks, techniques and formulas you could lift more though.
RoninPyro77 gotcha i had some 1lb and 2lb engines and those bad boys had 3incg thru 5inch ball and can headers on them.amd lifted them up with ease. i also had some yellow factory China made ones that i believe are 1lb that lifted 3s with ease...this is a great video glad you have the itch again 🤘👍💣💥
Hello, i have kitchen screen, I made bp with 60-30-10, my charcoal is full airfloat, I have a lot of catos, do you think the cause is i use only airfloat ? Maybe i must mix charcoals screened and airfloat, I use super black powder core burner.., thanks..,
What kind of cato? Are you destroying the tube or just blowing out the nozzle and bulkhead ? That ratio of BP shouldn't be cato-ing, I use a 70/20/10 mix with no problems using only airfloat. To mix it i just shake it in a plastic tub and screen it through a 40 mesh screen, and repeat the process 3 times, then granulate with water and a 10 mesh screen. A few questions... Are your ball milling your BP ? Ball milling is unnecessary and will significantly speed up the burn rate of the powder and could cause catos. What mesh size is your Nitrate ? A finer mesh nitrate will also increase burn speed, a 325 mesh nitrate may be too fast and the ratio may have to be adjusted down some. I personally use a 200 mesh nitrate in all my rockets. Also are you pressing or hand ramming ? If you are hand ramming be sure you are using a "deadblow" hammer and not something else.
RoninPyro77 thanks a lot, i buyed a dead blow hammer 2 lb and now it’s ok 👍, my rockets take off , now I must buy an hydraulic press, a ball mill and I will be ok...
