Agree, it is a magnificent opera. The incredible thing is that he composed it at the age of 19, his first opera. He was a gifted genius. Unfortunately the music of his next 3 German operas, Nero, Daphne and Florindo was lost, composed when he was 20 :(
Hard to believe he was only 19 when he wrote the Proverai aria as well! Not to mention the rest of this opera. Amanda Forsythe is wonderful in this. Thanks so much!
Quality of her voice, accuracy, emotion, facial charm and expressions, performance as an actress, even movements of her fingers - perfect aren’t they? Rare performance of centuries.
We are planning a commercial audio recording, hopefully at sometime next year. We would love to do a proper DVD recording in the future, but it is an exponentially more expensive undertaking that the archival videos we are able to share here or even going into the studio for our audio recordings.
I'm afraid not. While we'd love to produce our operas for a DVD release, the productions costs are prohibitively high. We did make a studio recording of this opera which is available on the CPO label.
