they are soo beautiful. ive only owned after 3 months old so ive never seen after a featherless state. thank you. ive been looking them up like crazy because im planning on getting a new one.
no it will take some time..somtimes even MONTHs for them to get along, its a process where u have to be patient with them, and once they get along they will then depending on the season like Jan to MArch they will have eggs..
Well 1 sign they are bonded is the male will feed the female and if ur not sure dont put up a nest box coz the female would just go in the box,u want them to socialize 1st,let them get to know each other for a while then u can put up a nesting box.
this reminds me of my pet lovebird ,he was fully grown then my big brother let him out of the cage and drowned him in water...my brother was 11 years old!!! and then he did it again and this time my bird flew away :( i really love him and love me but he hated my big brother (and thats why it takes responcibility for pets) R.I.P. Lovebird :(
@Navyseal925 You probably have the answer already, but if not, yes you can fix splayed legs if the bird is still young enough. I have had two baby's with splayed legs and was able to catch it early enough and correct the problem. Look up splayed legs on internet and you will find lots of information.

we just got our new 3 pairs today and pretty sure in the next couple of months we will gonna have some babies too....and i didn't know that we have to milk feed them...with Roudybush Handfeeding formula...not even sure if it's available here in phils....i thought it is just some kind of a baby milk's formula LOL....

Hi My lovebird this morning laid an egg but not in the nest put on the bottom of the cage. At the bottom of the cage there is some wood chip with no dust and paper I gave her to shred. Before she laid the egg she was putting the shreded paper in the nest The male helps her a little but he is always in the nest. What do I do with The egg do I put it in the nest and if she lays another one on the ground do I do The same thing I am a first time breeder and I need all the help I can get.

your bird is so hyper, my new baby parrot is very quiet, it just laying there and it doesn't make a sound. is there something wrong with it? do i need to take it out of the nest to have some light(black square nest). the bird looks about the same age as your bird.
they both get in the nest box but they dont feed each other the breeder i bought it from said there bonded but if they both get in is that good or should i take it away for a while
how often do u feed them? our birds just booted out two babies [making room for moore eggs!] i've been feeding them 1 to 2 times every two hours.. they squeek now and again, so i mix up the formula and feed untill they stop begging for it.. im worried about sleeping tonight tho!!!

Daichi there are two ways to tell if your bird is full. One, the crop will be full, two it will stop trying to eat when it's had enough. Also there are sites that tell you how much, and how often to feed a bird pending on the age. As for when to ween them, they begin to ween on their own around 7-8 weeks, just provide them with food to ween on, and watch to see they are eating on their own before you stop feeding them. hi my lovebirds has laid 2 eggs, for about at leat 3 weeks, and is it ok sometimes if the mom goes out of her nest for awhile?? bcuz i hope the egss dnt get cold...and hw long does it take for them to hatch?
we just bought a pair their beautiful but they look alike wanted a male and female the breeder said he did his best selecting but does not guarantee sexes anybody know how i can find out
@Tony20v My lovebird Peter is a Female and when that happens to her its usually when she's gonna lay an egg. Im not shurr if its the same thing with yuur bird
help, my parent raised bird bites like crazy! when i stick my finger in it attacks and won't let go, its draws so much blood it hurts so much. Please can anyone out there give some good advice? I want to LOVE my bird not end up hating him.
Hi. I have 2 baby lovebirds. The older chick is 3.5 weeks old and the 2nd chick is 2.5 weeks old. I want to start handfeeding them. My question is, do I have to give them back to their mom once I start handfeeding the chicks or do I have to put them in a separate cage?
Separate cage, the main idea of hand feeding is to raise them to be attached to you and hand tame if you were to give them back to mom it would defeat the purpose. You need to house them in a brooder, either a store bought one or make your own, just make sure to monitor the temp. Depending on age babies need to be kept at certain temps. And yes they can be kept together unless you really want to serperate I suppose you could. But that is double the brooder and double the temps lol
That's why its important to ween them onto pellet and what they will be eating their whole life. You need to start by offering pellet (fruit or regular) and add half seed. Over time, like over the course of a week or two, lower the portion of seed and more pellet in its place. All seed diets are not healthy and seed should be a small portion of the diet and treats. i took out a baby lovebird today n a book accidently fell on it n it died =( i cried 5 hours straight i feel so bad n i dnt kno how to face kiwi ( the mom) i feel so guilty im giving them away now =(
