Handheld Slingshot Ballista 

@MrSup2121 Multiplex is just quality plywood, you should be able to find it in DIY stores. It's not cheap, but you don't need much for a slingshot.

Your invention is absolutely amazing! Turning something such as a ballista into a slingshot = cool :D

@urielp911 Yes, it would make the x-bow more powerful, for sure. Even the Novitzkenegger (basically a 10 feet long x-bow) would be accelerated even further. I don't have any plans, the design is still not fully optimized. I may post a how-to after I have explored this path some more. Making this one is very tricky, as the slightest mechanical tolerance will lead to uneven swing arms, so it takes serious skills to make it.

@sittttam Sure, handslaps are normal when you use powerful slingshots. It's OK as long as you don't shoot for hours.

Amazing slingshot, its kinda like a compound bow. That design really should be put to the test, a compound slingshot crossbow would be pretty awesome, I really wonder why you haven't made one already.

I'm surprised you never adapted this one to a slingshot crossbow, Joerg! Seems like it would have the potential to make a very powerful weapon. Especially if it were shooting arrows.

just a heads up.... when you shoot a rifle from a car, the bullet doesn't gain the speed that the car is travelling, this is why supersonic jets like the sr-71 do not carry weapons... it would fly into the bullet. None the less, cool invention

You made a compound slingshot. Nice. Have you considered using a mechanism with cables similar to that of a compound bow instead of rubber?

with a shorter band, this model might be good for the slingbow design. the crossbar will provide a hand guard and a place to mount the arrow rest. there won't be a risk of shooting your own hand.

I'm not sure of the physics but would the uneven arms cause a curved flight path and possibly make it so the slingshot can shoot something out of the line of sight if uneven enough?

Joerg, what specifiic advantage do the moving arms have when compared to simply stretching the bands the same distance? It seems that when the arms bend back, you are just adding draw length. Physically this doesn't seem any better than longer bands; in fact the wood components seem they would be even slower. Or is it just to try something new?

plus with the wood planks its more efficient as you dont have to pull it back as far as you would have to recieve the same power with a longer band. So the wood components are just more efficient rather then a long band, although a long band would be cheaper, the wood components make it so you could probably draw faster and shorter then drawing a longer band and slower and probably lose accuracy too.

did you measure the increase in speed/power in a more precious manner? did you run any tests on it? i'm interested to see the numbers

I'm sorry to be a know it all Jörg but the arms coming back and then springing forward add more momentum and force and enable additional acceleration of the shot.

I think this is the most innovative design i've seen in your videos so far. Can you tell wich one achieve more speed: handheld ballista or extreme high-tech slingshot?

Joerg, how about instead of those bars put eccentric cams there, so when you pull the sling, it would require less force to hold? (like some composite bows do)

Hello. Great product and innovative design. However, I have a request for a modified, customer inspired product design. I would like the slingshot made of hard impact non-breakable black plastic with a karambit as the handle with a short 3-inch curved switch blade. The handle needs to have sufficient weight to be effective as a blunt force object. I would also like to include a handle with a powerful torch light that blinds the target. The torch light needs to clip on to the handle via plastic clips and train on the target. Look forward to the feedback and feasibility of the proposal. Any additional recommendations would be welcomed. Thank you. Ray Verret Washington State...the land of the free.
