Most of them are powered by rubber, a fascinating material that converts muscle energy into kinetic energy! But we also present bladed weapons and launchers powered by other energy sources.
Inventions, reviews, stunts and destruction - if that is what you want, you came to the right place for sure!

Dear Jörg, thank you very much for your laughing and also for your intense and inspired work. Especially in the last few years it was you that kept me holding on. And i've got the feeling , that i'm not the only one. I worked for over 40 years as a professional musician and was doing quite well with it. But this Corona stuff threw me off the rails and i'm trying very hard to get back where i belong. But as many other artists too, i first had to sell all of my eqipement, before getting help. And in 2 months i ll get kicked out of my appartement and will be homeless. But that's not what i wanted to write in first place - on the other hand, sometimes wired random stuff happens...but only if you let other peiple know about. Okay, concerning your cool idea: to me there is one problem left . The limiting factor is now the strength of your fingers. Because they are the connection now. Yes, you can stretch now 4 mercyless rubberbands much wider due to the support of the add on. But then xou still have to hold ( or rather fix) the puchet ( sorry, i can t remember all these terms), .but i hope u see what i mean. I'm doing freeclimbing and hard bouldering for about 30 years now and have built up some helpfull power in my handmuscles ( yes i know, the fingers are only the servants... the muscles for them are placed mainly at the underarms...) and solid bones, tendons, joint capsulas. So probably my fingers are as strong as yours, concerning gripping power - but in all other aspects i am lightyears away from your power. I guess i couldn't even use a slingshot with only 2 yellow bands. It could end like " Bizarre: Ex musician found dead with a slingshot stuck in his head. Was it suicide ? Our expert from our sports ressorts told us, that usually the slingshot itself isn't shot - therefore steelballs are used. The slingshot itself usually isn't shot anywhere.....stay tuned..." Have i missed something ? If not, then we need a tool, that allows to connect the slingshot pouch with the end of the helping rubber line - and THAT IS THE CRUX - which can be "released" = disconnected, right at the moment of shooting. It must be save and relieable and work in milliseconds, so it doesn't hinder the 4 yellow wild horses on their WARP2 race forward. I guess, this tool already exists. As so often. But is serving for some complete different task. Until now. And my thoughts wander to the old trigger mechanisms for crossbows...and...hum... then we could end up with a. ... crossbow 😂 Some sort of Schrödingers thing. It oszillates between a slingshot and a crossbow. Strange.... And of course it may not collide with any weapon laws. If this might be the case or could destroy some slingshot powerjunkies' life, physicly or in terms of justic, please delete this comment. Those are only some thoughts of mine. In case they are helpful or interesting i'm glad. But if they can do bad things , please kick them. All best wishes, that also goes to this huge community Wolfgang
Some time in the late 2010s, Mattel filed a patent for a Boomco blaster that used this principle with springs, to help prime a pump action or bolt action rifle. Sadly, the brand folded before it went into production, but this is a very neat spiritual successor to the idea.
So awesome to see you make one of these! I finally made a useful discovery in this particular rabbit hole of diy crossbow making and that is you can shoot bolts through an enclosed barrel with just one rubbered fly wheel or a fly gear if you make gear bolts. I also found that string is non-helpful with these design because it's being pulled directly forward instead of outward and so it doesn't accelerate and bounce the arrow off the string like a trampoline like on a normal bowstring. I also found that design super thin, lightweight gears and having two torsion coils power one launch wheel improves efficiency by going from a twin to a mono assembly but once you start getting decent power then the issue is durability because light 3d printed gears eventually shatter from the sudden stop and so I gave up on gear bows for now lol but they are possible and cool but almost impossible to engineer a good one from home because it's like trying to do horology but at crossbow scale.
I am envious of your engineering aptitude. Keep the ideas flowing. On the shoulders of giants like you, the next world will have innovations that we cannot even imagine, yet. We haven't invented the wheel but the gyroscope, what will they invent from its boring spin, spacecraft propulsion and steering, when our wildest ideas become common place the sky is the limit. Keep us entertained and our kids will change the world with it.
Seriously though, it feels like this kind of application of physics should have more of an affect on us. Or that it would have if we hadn't basically surrendered effort to machines, not that that's a bad thing. Getting my head around this is making me look at everything different. I feel like I'm in a 70s Sci-Fi movie dream sequence.
Don't get me wrong - the content is both enjoyable and thoroughly educational...but I genuinely come back here just for Jorge's chuckles. They're just so darn joyful. :)
Interesting idea. The only issue is that you get the most tension with the assistance band while the shooting bands are at least tension, and the least tension while the shooting bands are at full draw/tension. But I can't think of a way around that.
