As a handicapped veteran, my disability being caused whilst fighting for my country, the number of times I have been unable to park conveniently because, it later transpired, a non handicapped person was parked in a handicap space, makes me red with frustration.
I have an "invisible disability" as people call them. My joints pop in and out at will and at any moment. It's excruciating. It really is infuriating when there are illegal parkers in handicapped spots. The fines need to be much higher!
Thank you for your service. I’ve stopped paying attention to who parks in the handicap spot because of disabilities that I can’t see. I understand what you mean when someone is not disabled and parks in it, it’s selfish.
@@EDSzebra1I hear you all. My lumbar exploded and because no one can see my scared up torso or feel my 24/7 pain they don’t consider it. I was going into a place of business one day and the people who had just parked next to me in a regular space had gotten out of the car the same time I did. The man, who, while holding a little girl’s hand, road my case for parking in a handicap reserved spot-even with a DVA tag and a state placard hanging from the windshield-all the way into the business; I guess because I was younger than him? 🤷🏽♂️ Sad for him to teach the next generation such inconsideration.
those skates are awesome. I appreciated the officer commenting about "now that I know folks like to park in the handicap spots I'll just cruise thru here a little more often". I'm hoping you can at least take a tax write-off for that trek from the shop. And yet again, both of you - I'm impressed and thankful for your calm under fire, your consistent kindness. You are a company others can point towards and say, "be like Everything Auto".
I Couldn’t agree more! You were calm and professional through the whole situation and then you apologize and she can’t even say she was sorry acting a fool. We visit that area ever couple years and we love the smoky mountains because of folks like you all, everyone for the most part are very friendly.
@@bmxdad8 I agree with you! How arrogant do you have to be to have someone else give an apology when you were the one that got butt ugly first that you can’t even muster up an apology?! This is an example of a Karen in the ugliest form.
"now that I know folks like to park in the handicap spots I'll just cruise thru here a little more often" I get what he is saying .... but ... where DON'T rude inconsiderate ignorant people take up handicapped spots with no plate or plackard?
From someone with a handicap tag & license plate (Parkinson patient), it REALLY peeves me to see people with no tag parked in handicap parking. Jeff, you held your temper a lot better than I would have. Shrieking, cussing, acting like a beotch, real classy. AND to get stiffed for the drop fee, that stinks.
I agree with you. I’m 50 years old, and I have spinal stenosis. And I got permission from my doctor and the DMV I have legitimate placard‘s. I can’t tell you how many problems that I have that I have to prove to people that I have a disability. The placard is hanging in my window. Enough said.
Jeff, I would have just towed the car the minute she starting yelling. I just want to say that car had to be parked for quite sometime as it takes sometime for Jeff to get there. Also, they walked around the car and talked about it. Then it took a while for Jeff to put the wheels up and strap them down. The lady didn't just get her dad to his apartment and come right back to move her car. Jeff again got up on the middle of the night for nothing. Stay safe Jeff and Kristen. ❤❤❤
I use a wheelchair and people like that make me so mad. The space I park in has to have the diagonally striped space on the passenger side so I can let my ramp down and roll out. The space she illegally parked in was probably the only spot in the parking lot I could have parked in. She got off way too easy as far as I'm concerned.
I'm the same way. My son is in a wheelchair and he has a ramp to come down to get him out. It can be frustrating for me. Sometimes the only way I can get him.out is take up 2 parking spaces and then get him out. People also need to quit using a placard to park that doesn't belong to them. 😡😡😡
Being an amputee who often has to use a wheelchair. I get that completely. My wife and I want to go places and some people just want to do whatever they fucking want. Pisses me off. I've earned my handicapped plate. Not just for some entitled prick to do whatever they want
They don't make a med that could keep me as calm as you're able to be. The minute a customer comes at me, the cost of everything goes up and "the drop charge for the car is now $100." More power to ya, brother.
I had a handicap tag for about 4 months because I had extensive foot surgery and couldn’t put any wait on it. I couldn’t believe how many people parked in the handicap spot. Luckily I had a wheelchair and my husband to push me into different places. What really peeved me was trying to get one of those motors carts in Walmart they were also taken either by kids or very heavy set person.
Exactly. I was the same. Shattered my kneecap and was non weight bearing for almost 4 months after 2 surgeries on it. My 80 year old husband had to push me in a wheelchair. And finding a electric cart in a store was a night mare, from all the kids and adults that obviously didn't need one that bad.
I don't know about there but in Oklahoma the handicaped placard is issued to the person not the car. If the person is not there the car is still in violation.
I have had 7 back surgeries and often can't walk but I still won't get a handicap sticker or park in a handicap spot because I see people way worse than me and they need those spots. Great job guys 👍
My dad was a disabled veteran. He had the tag and the placard. He was exiting his car from a disabled spot when a Karen said, "Sir, you do not look disabled." He responded, "Thank you, so much! Neither do you!"
If that was me towing I would have a inexpensive infrared thermometer in my truck. The owner claims that she had not been parked there for long , a simple temp reading of the engine would show if the car has been parked there long enough to cool off or if the engine is still hot indicating that it has been ran recently. If the engine is the same temp as the air then that means that the car has been parked and the engine off long enough to cool down , in order for that to happen it would take hours to cool down , indicating that it had been parked there for a long time.. Just an idea !
Funny story Richard, when I was a teenager the cops knew we would go out racing. One night I had an officer pull up at our home he got out of his patrol car walked over and grabbed my tail pipe. He looked at me and said nope it wasn’t you got back in his car and left.
@@EverythingAutos LOL , I kept thinking that somebody was going to lay their hand on the hood of the car to see if there was warmth there still.. I like your videos and am glad that I found your channel , thumbs UP to you two. Thank you.
Cop's in Texas would touch the hood of the car at dances to see if it was one that they chased and the car got away. Safer than grabbing a tail pipe. lol
I have a permanent handicap placard - injured my back twice in the course of 14 years. In 2000, after back surgery I was able to go back to work again. In 2014, the disc above the surgery area blew and that one put me on disability. : ( Twice I've had ill informed people tell me I can't part there, even though my placard was hanging on the rearview mirror. I told her I had back and leg injuries and I was allowed to park there. She then tried to tell me that I wasn't handicapped because I wasn't in a wheelchair. Ditto story with the other woman...she thought only people in wheelchairs could get those placards and that I Must have been borrowing a wheelchair bound friend or family member's placard.
It's a private lot with restrictions. These restrictions are that you may not park in a handicapped spot unless you display a handicapped sticker. It's not the cops decision. It's the management's call. The police may not decide issues on private property unless laws are broken.
It makes me so angry when people park in disabled parking without a placard or tag! And then you have the people that park in the no parking lines to where you can get in your car 😡 There should be zero tolerance for this! That vile woman reminds me of neighbors we had a couple years ago, she cussed me out for using the handicapped space (I have a placard, you can’t tell I’m disabled just by looking at me) because her dad had no legs so he needed it (there were multiple spots and they didn’t even have a placard or plate🙄🤦🏻♀️),we wound up renting the garage and parking area right next to the disabled parking and then they kept parking in our rented spot saying it was easier for getting her dad in and out 🙄😡 Some people are just garbage humans. Definitely should have towed it!
I get so aggravated when I cannot find a handicapped place to park because so many abuse it by just taking the spot without a plaquard or a plate required sticker. Finally in recent weeks our local sheriffs department is coming out to our local Walmart and ticketing people. I forgot once to put my plaquard in my window and even tho I had it I still had to pay a $25 fine for it not being displayed. I completely understand and I pod my fine. That was my fault. I’ve seen Amazon drivers use the handicapped spaces at Walmart as well. I’m one of the people that has an invisible illness, I have Fibromyalgia as well as severe spinal stenosis in my lumbar spine. I may not look disabled but I am. I would not wish my disability on anyone! The pain I live with day in and day out is at times unbearable! Without the use of a shopping cart I couldn’t get around at the store, even if I’m just going in for one or 2 small items.
This one is best left alone. That didn’t look like an official handicap spot. The signage and the blue color was missing. The other thing that I noticed was. Who was authorizing the removal? I didn’t look like it was management from the complex. If renters can order each other towed this could get way out of hand. There seemed to be something else going on with these folks. When the officer did not want to get involved. That was the signal to drop the car cut your losses and get out of there.
My brother is in the sign business. He says that technically the handicap marking on the pavement does NOT count. It must have a sign in front of the space for it to be a valid handicap spot. I don't know for sure myself. As a towing company, it might be worth your while to check it out on the ADA. Seems like the Cops ought to know this for sure.
Before my knee surgery, I could barely walk. I know how hard it is for the handicapped. It's so frustrating trying to get into a business when you are compromised and can't find a handicapped spot because of people not caring.
Seems like the owner of the place would care enough mark the spot legally. The ADA is very clear on what makes a legally marked handicap spot. Signage posted on a metal pole at least sic feet tall, in front of each spot and cemented in 6 inches below grade. Just painting a wheelchair on the ground doesn't work.
OMG! They have a contract to tow illegally parked cars. Your car was parked illegally therefore you get towed. End of discussion. Don’t park where you’re not supposed to. Even for a short time. Verdict for the tow truck.
In my opinion, it should be a law in every single state that if you park in a handicap spot and don't have a handicap plate or placard the car will be towed and the owner fined.
Also, if you do have a temp placard, make it visible. If noone can tell you're handicapped sitting in a spot, don't get pissy when someone gives you shit for parking there.
This is what happens when the towing guy doesn't grab it and go! They fooled around before loading, so just get off the property if you want to stop and check it.
The handicap signs for the mirror are registered to specific vehicles or they aren't even valid!!!!!!! You can't just pull the sign in and out of any car you're riding in and use it at will. Police can and will run the handicap sign sticker to see if the car matches the one registered to the sign. This lady was wrong in every single way for parking there.
iT'S "Handicap parking: Not "lazy parking" or "just got to run in for a minute" parking. There are a LOT more handicapped drivers than people seem to think. And they have to shop and get gas like the rest of people.
This is a situation where the car owners have nothing to loose by arguing with the tow truck driver and pleading with the cop. They know if they figure out a way to keep the tow truck driver tied up its costing his company money.
No Disabled Placard no parking in a designated disabled bay. Just because you are allowed to park in the parking lot doesn’t mean you can park in limited disabled bays.
Sorry but people like this lady who called wear me out! I absolutely don’t condone parking in handicapped spots if you’re not actually handicapped, however the lady complaining about it also did NOT look handicapped. Look how fast she was walking. And she had no problem standing around and watching the entire towing process. Shouldn’t she need a walker or wheelchair? Handicapped placards in the US have become such a scam! Kind of like “emotional support pets”.
Too many people have mothers, fathers, sons, or daughters who actually NEED the placard, yet they will use the placard even when the person with the disability is not in the vehicle. Sorry but if you do that, you’re a scammer!
From lady in blues comments she thinks she can park anywhere she wants, saying they cant tow cars from the lot. I hate it when people get their way by being nasty
This woman knows NOTHING about handicap laws. This establishment has a responsibility, BY FEDERAL LAW…to provide parking for handicapped. And, if you have a PLACARD…you have a responsibility to DISPLAY it.
Am I missing something....She wants to pay a $250 Handicap Ticket instead of $200 to drop the car 🤣In the end, she gets what she wants and learns that yelling wins.....
they claim they parked in handicap parling to drop off her handicap father -- just go inside and get the fathers id -- if he has a handicap plakard , it will be attached to his id/driver license -- if not - cite the woman who parked in that space
Im a disabled Vet who has a handicap placard and parked in a handicap spot and forgot to display it. Here comes Karen talking shit. I showed my placard and told her to mind her own business. If people concerned themselves with their own affairs, the world would be better.
Grown adults feeling that somebody should have gone door-to-door until they found out whose car it was just to ask them to move it. Karen would’ve really gone off then.
The apartment manager has the right to call towing truck to tow your car without police but towing company without permission from the apartment manager cannot just tow cars!!!!
Ok at 22:25. I now have enough information regarding the tow for this incident. On private property the owner called to have car towed! Ok this driver of tow truck is in the right and doesn’t need cops there! Property owner take the legal part of having car towed! As a wrecker driver if I had just one hook on the car no matter what happened after you would’ve been paying me a wrecker bill! Even if cops come and tell me to dropped it you still will pay for tow! The handicap sticker doesn’t matter the property owner told me to tow I can tow it doesn’t matter. So if you have a problem take it up with the judge and a property owner not the wrecker company! Driver is one hundred percent right in hooking and towing!
Maybe it’s just me but if you look at the right side of the screen you see a loading/unloading zone with ramp to sidewalk that should have been where they dropped dad off so he could get in the house and they could have parked in another spot
Jeff, I know you had your reason to back down on this job. As you say towing illegal parks help teach what not to do. So stands to reason that if you curse my wife out, yell and be really nasty by dropping the car and no fee I have just learned how to get out of drop fees. A rock and a hard place is a tough place to be. Sorry it happen to ya'll.
So, management wanted you to tow it? Got it. Sounds like parking is a problem and management allows anyone to use their parking spaces however they want.
You should of towed it and the cops should of given them a ticket. It's not a drop off spot. Regardless of how long you supposedly parked there, you didn't have a placard on display... Period. This is a huge problem. Those placards are issued to people who need them. And it wasn't the ladies job to come and knock on their door to ask them to move their illegally parked vehicle. With the reaction the tow truck operator got from the illegally parked car person, imagine how that lady would of treated her for just asking to move it. Stupid is the new pandemic
They took the chance and got caught, that’s the game. The car is a shed and shouldn’t be on the road. If her passenger was disabled then he would have had a badge why not use it? Jeff is a good man, backed by his amazing wife, tonight they tested the patience of Job as I would have not taken half that none-sense. Better man prevail when tested to the limits. You know that soon enough the law will catch them driving without registration and impound the car and what sweet justice it would be if police called Everything Auto! Happy days
its as if they know theyre illegally parked and theyre hawkeyeing their car waiting for the expected tow truck to hook their car so they can harass the tow driver
Exactly. She didn’t just bring her dad inside and come to move the car… they had the time from when this woman called them till they were almost fully hooked up till she came out. That’s not just a few minutes.
Best line was from the cop that said he was going to start coming by and stacking tickets for those parking illegally in the handicap! That shut her up 😂
Placard is only to be used and the vehicle parked in a handicap spot when the PERSON for whom the placard was issued is being transported. Same thing applies to handicap license tag. The tagged vehicle can only be parked in a handicap spot when the person for whom the tag was issued is being transported. AND, as we were told regarding my mom's tags and placard (aka hang tag), the certificate of eligibility for both was to be carried on HER person at all times when transported either in her tagged car or my car with the hangtag in use. It pisses me off when I park in a store lot and I see people park in a handicap spot and then sprint across the parking lot into a store. I have called out more than one driver when I have seen that happen. More times than not they move the car when I tell them that I am gonna report it to the police and I will stand there and wait for the police to sign whatever they want me to sign attesting to what I witnessed. Yeah, I've been cussed out a couple of times, but the mostly just move the cars.
I came across someone with the nerve to double park taking up two handicapped spots at a goodwill, including a van accessable with no license plate and no placard. They were also so stupid they forgot to lock their door... 20 oz of Dr. Pepper later, shaken throughout the interior of their vehicle with a puddle in the driver's seat hopefully sent a message.
They can also run the tag on the car may times I have 2 cars 1 tag . All the police have to do is run the plate . If u have one find if u don’t wrecker time bye . In Fla they don’t do that
That lady in the blue shirt sure was a gem. My dad is also handicapped and can barely walk, but when i'm driving him and have forgotten his tag I just drop him off and move. I DO NOT take up a spot even for a minute.
You have my total respect sir! As a retired wrecker driver, I never had that much patience with screaming, cussing, and insulting folks. I understand pulling into a handicap spot (although illegal) to DROP OFF a passenger, but to stay there is not accdeptable actions.
Especially all day. Some people can be so selfish. It's all about them with no regard for the fact that they make situations very hard on people who have handicap stickers for a reason. Shameful!
You got a bigger heart than me. The second that me or my wife got cursed the car would've been gone. No apologies accepted just cash! I enjoy the videos
I'm disabled and use a cane and a walker. I've lost count of the number of times that I couldn't park in a disabled spot because someone was parked illegally without a disabled placard. The disabled laws are not new. They've been around for several years - there is no excuse for parking illegally. The idiot woman keeps repeating she has a sticker to park in the lot - one has nothing to do with the other. Parking illegally in a handicapped spot has a very unique set of laws. I agree with the original replier. I have no patience; she would have swore at me once and I would have loaded the car up and taken the car away. As for the other replier, if I'm reading correctly, your saying that everyone involved in towing is crooked and on the take. Have you all ever noticed when people are so quick to accuse others that they themselves are involved in something underhanded? So say I.
@@aaronqueen55 No, she was effectively stealing a parking spot. She did not have a tag to park there. And when an actual handicapped driver needed the spot, she had to be moved. Heck, he was even going to move her to a free spot, until she started blowing up in his face...
As the parent of a daughter with lifelong disability, I long ago arrived at a zero tolerance attitude toward people who park in handicap parking slots without a proper tag. And folks like this arrogant lady get even less than zero tolerance. As always, the Everything Auto people handle these situations with much more patience than I would be able to muster. Kudos!
My daughter has a severe form of epilepsy and we had a handicapped placard in the window. You can’t imagine the number of people that would come after us and accuse us of using the spot unlawfully. Sometimes you need to kind your own business
@@jaynewallace-bohannon6317 I was never concerned with people who had a placard in the window. Many disabilities are not visible. It was the folks without a placard who drove me crazy.
Clearly your daughter and the person who drives her, NEEDS handicapped parking, but too many people take advantage of the lax rules for getting a handicapped placard. I hope that you only use the placard when your daughter is driving or when she is in the vehicle with you. Unfortunately too many people will use the placard even when the disabled person isn’t present.
I know that the cops didn't 'see' it but since 1: Karen admitted that she was parked there and said she would happily take a ticket, ( ADMITTING she KNEW she was WRONG for parking there) and 2: Jeff had video of it being parked there when this started, I think the cops should have written her the ticket AND she should have had to pay the drop fee. Karen said she didn't care about the ticket which tells me that she will be back there again as soon as possible.
It doesn’t matter if you have a permit on the car and live there. You can’t park in a reserved or handicap spot period. Any complex will be the same way. Residents can’t park where ever they want.
