This square shank screwdriver was missing most of the handle. I decided to try to turn a new one on the lathe from a piece of maple from my back yard. I hope you like the video.
It "turned" out great! 👍😀😎. I have a stash of oak and maple bits like that in my shop for future projects as well! When you have a big yard, that wood is free! Well done!
Yes, lots of free wood in my back yard! Tornado season coming up in Oklahoma so there may be more ( hope not!). I also have some ash firewood that would like to use in a future project as well. Thanks for the comment! Regards, Bill,
Thank you! I kind of like the way it turned out even though I am pretty new at wood turning. I really appreciate you watching my video and for commenting. Come back soon! Best regards, Bill.
Thanks Dale ! I am completely self taught on the lathe just from watching videos, so I'm not sure if my technique is correct or not. But it seems to work 😀Sure glad you enjoyed the video! Bill
Thank you Vic! The handle turned out better than I expected. Seems like I get a little better each time I use the lathe, but still a lot to learn. Old dogs can learn new tricks!😃
Great job Mr Bill. That maple handle turned out beautiful. I just picked up a mini lathe a couple months ago and have turned a few handles with it. I'm just learning myself but it is fun.
Hello Ivan. Yes, I find myself looking for excuses to use the lathe - it's fun. That little WEN I have is just the right size for my limited space. Sure glad to hear from you again! Bill.
Thanks! I'm just learning how to use the lathe so I think it turned out pretty well. I sure appreciate you watching my video and commenting! Best regards, Bill.
Thank you Mike! I really appreciate the comment and the sub. Yes, we have quite a few maple trees around here and sometimes they are 'self pruning' with the wind and occasional tornado around these parts. 😁 Best regards, Bill.
Hi Larry. I like the little WEN lathe just fine. It's good for my purposes - small enough for limited space and good enough for light to medium duty 'do it yourselfers' like me. I sure appreciate you watching the video and commenting! Bill.
