One of the most underrated shows. Went in with 0 expectations and it ended up becoming one of my favorites.

The reason this ending was so (soooooooooooooooooooooooooo) good isn't just because of the ending, it's because of the whole series nurtures the creation of that perfect final note.

*If you looked at **12:06** their hand forms an 86 symbol. I LOVE THIS MASTERPIECE!* *I hope that after A-1 Pictures are done with Solo Leveling, they go back to this and start doing Season 2.*

I know there’s more content in the LN but if they never made 1 more episode of 86 I wouldn’t even be mad, that’s how beautifully this wrapped up.

This anime really surprised me. I didn't know anything about it when I started it, and now it's one of my favorite shows.

Thank you for watching 86! i keep persuading people to watch this anime because people tend to skip it once learning its mech or not the usual shonen stuff but 86 is such a good show for me and one of the best out there.

This is my favorite anime hands down

The song when they meet... "LilaS" - while it's not officially confirmed, Sawano is always doing stuff like this... but it's believed to mean "Lena is looking at Shin"

When their hands were getting closer to each other and forming the number 86. I've watched that moment plenty of times and it still got me everytime. Thank you A-1 Pictures for such an amazing adaptation.

This actually isn’t the end of the series. It’s the beginning of the novels. It also gets significantly better latter on. Hopefully we get more seasons

SO much more happens in the LN after this. It was the first LN I picked up and its my favourite story EVER. Especially more happens between Shin and Lena and the 86! :)

Guys dont worry season 3 and 4 will most likely be adapted from light novel i think s3 will come out around end of 2025 to beginning of 2026 as A1 pictures is currently busy with other animes like solo leveling,etc

There is a lot visually in this episode that I absolutely love. When Lena visits her father's grave, with the jacket propped on the tombstone it looks for a moment as if she is speaking to her father's decapitated body. Also there is the stark contrast between the establishing shots of district 1 we see way back in episode 1 and district 1 in ruins we see this episode. The main street, the news bulletin, Lena's room. Also, her superior officer. On his desk is two photos, the first, staged obviously, him hanging out with some 86. Next to it his wife and son, both with their hair dyed so that he can look appropriately down with the colorata. His wife cleverly makes sure to keep her eyes closed ffor the photo so her real Allba status is not visible, the boy does not have this foresight though. The man saw the way the wind was blowing and decided to reinvent his image. Prudent but not very honest. We also see some familiar faces at the soup kitchen thingy, the three men complaining about being treated equal.... they are the guys we have so often seen drinking at headquarters. Lena and the 86 standing together at the end of the train tracks, Lena has finally caught up. Lena and Shin's hands lifting to meet, their hands' shadows for a brief moment read 86, beautiful detail.

This was a beautiful journey. The LN is on-going and the story continues. I want them to make another season! However, if they don't continue this, this season is a perfect way to end it.

This is one of those anime that made me cry so much, not because of sadness but because of happiness.

Literally a perfect ending. Reminded me of the feeling when I first finished FMAB.

Till this day the most satisfying finale that I had the pleasure to watch! By the end of this episode I think we were all like the main cast - eyes all red from tears! Also, I would recommend listening the song from the final scene. Its called Lilas and it has a beautiful lyrics, you should 100% check it out!

The build up from all the season towards Shin and Lena meeting was insane. One of the most perfectly crafted scenes in anime in my books. As usual i loved your reaction to this show Alana and i'm glad you enjoyed it. Now we wait for season 2!!

Hiroyuki Sawano’s masterpieces really frickin elevated an already superbly done anime. He deserves so much of the credit and he never fails! Everyone thanking A-1 but no one thanking Hiroyuki Sawano. THANK YOU!

86 really has a special place in my heart if you couldn't tell by my pfp. I like military anime/media (was also in the military) so it really hits home in a lot of ways. Seeing them FINALLY meet had me tearing up with joy.

This anime honestly has one of THE best endings ive ever seen and it makes me so so happy

The whole anime was great from start to finish however the last 8 episodes have to be one of the best stretches of episodes that I had to pleasure of watching. That final ost, was perfect.

As for possible future seasons, the anime has only covered the first 3 volumes of the light novel. There are currently 12 volumes out, with a 13th scheduled for January, so there's a TON more if they choose to continue the anime! (please A-1 Pictures!🙏🥺)

in my life i never saw a better ending than this... i saw this ending at least 20 time and still manage to makes me cry each time. i crave for anime who could make me feel like this... and the music at the end... just listening to the song it's enough to makes me cry sometime.

Some funny stuff that occurred between the ending of this volume and the beginning of the next volume (not giant spoilers just silly things) The mech recorded the conversation between shin and Lena, and played it during an assembly about the republic. Shin was very, VERY embarrassed. Lena kept asking if the generals if they knew about the spearhead squadron. They played dumb bc it was funny to watch them.

This series is my absolute favorite I'm glad you really enjoyed it as well. one thing though Raiden and Shin aren't childhood friends, Raiden actually hated Shin at first. it's explained in the first LN

86 is one of my favorite anime in recent memory! I nearly cried again seeing this ending for the second time watching your reactions. I hope you could check out more mecha anime in the future, the genre seems to be having a resurgence but it's still pretty underrated. (personally hope you'll watch a Gundam series like The Witch from Mercury some day hehe)

I do thank you for reacting to this series! Back when it released, I watched the first couple of episodes. I was not in an emotionally stable condition when it released, and this anime at that time was one of the things I shoud not have watched given my circumstances. It was too much for me to handle so I ended up dropping it. Still, there were lingering feelings that made me still want to watch it, but I got afraid that I'd not be able to handle it. I watched the whole thing through your POV and then went ahead and watched it on my own, almost 3 years later after its release. With a now more stable condition, I was able to enjoy it thoroughly. I'm in peace now that I was able to experience this anime, and give it a second chance. So once again thank you! Looking forward for more possible seasons! (The anime adapted 3 volumes out of the 12 volumes from the novel )

Day 188? Of requesting Alana to watch Plastic Memories

Finally we have reached the end with Alana and this is what I have been waiting for since you started this series. 86 is my current no 1 anime series since I finished it 2 years ago. No other series can top this one. The writing is so good, the characters are so likeable and the world lore is interesting af. I don't plan to read the LN anytime soon (at least till the end of this year) bcs I am waiting for that season 2 announcement. With how busy these animators are with Nier, I can't predict how much time we need until season 2 is announced. But, there's still hope though.

Congratulations on clearing 86. It was so painful that I thought I should stop watching it, but I'm really glad that Alana got to see the part I wanted her to see the most. It's one of the best anime of all time for me because it has such a beautiful happy ending. The more you watch this anime, the more you notice it, and it's an anime that keeps getting better each time. There are two things I noticed recently. Next, in the emotional encounter scene, even the poker-faced Shin has shaking eyes and looks like he's about to cry, and not only Shin, but Raiden, Theo, Ange, and Crenna all have their eyes shaking. Then Lena said, "Shin..." Five portraits of Lena and her tears will fly into the sky along with Lena's tears. This scene contrasts with the scene in episode 9 where the five leave Block 86. In episode 9, Lena's tears fall to the ground and a white bird flies into the sky, signifying Lena and the five's farewell. Also, I think the white bird in episode 9 represents the five people being released from 86, and the caricature in episode 23 represents the liberation from chasing the five people. I may be reading too much into this, but this work is becoming more and more of a divine anime. It's a masterpiece.

Actually, the last song played (LiLaS) during the scene where they finally meet... it's lyric somehow translate into messages akin to a wedding (Honestly, it is a good wedding song ngl). There are some speculation on the meaning since the composer Sawano Hiroyuki likes to make coded titles for his compositions. Basically, one of the meaning of the title LiLaS is Lena is Looking at Shin. It also has many implication and meaning behind it. You will be stoked to watch a YT video breaking down special scenes, callbacks, and visualization in the show. It only means this series was given much love and care that it delivered more than expected. One of the few anime series that I had a hard time moving on to... hope they continue the light novel (and with the same quality too!). Thank you for watching this series and I am glad that you enjoyed such a masterpiece!

When Alana talks about Shin's mental health and her voice starts breaking down - that's so real! XD I feel you, girl! Seeing him happy and realizing there's more to living after meeting Lena made me so fulfilled and I just want to see them create more memories together! This ending literally was THE perfect ending imo. This end made the series jump to the top of my list. Like, a show can be amazing, but if it has a bad ending then it's ruined. But a good ending makes an already amazing show ten times better!

Around ep 15 or so i had a theory that Shin would be reunited with Lena by hearing her as a legion and it broke my heart theres a quote from shin about if it were a fairy tale they would end their journey in paradise and from then on i had convinced my self the end would be tragic because this show is not a fairy tale. this is the first show i have ever cried to and holds a special place in my heart.

Finding this reaction real late but a small detail I see alot of people missing. When they are enjoying their down time before returning to war. Anju is making real food not just sweets. When her cooking friends said she should learn to make food other than sweets for when she has a family she said that wasn't going to be an issue. This is signaling she is thinking about life after the war now.
