So basically Splitsie has become a scrapyard version of an eccentric hunter, hanging all his kills on trophy mounts on the walls. 🤣

Here's a scenario: however many identical frames with 4 wheels and a merge block and a partially built control seat. Players drag the frame with grabby hands to the first line where they pick up a small battery that has a merge block and get it to merge. Then drag the frame to the second line where there's a cargo container with the remaining parts to finish the control seat to drive to the finish line... The Drag Race!

"I is going to be aaages before i use any of those drills", 15 minutes later builds drill vehicle xD

The hamster ball race can be a downhill race. That way the players don't have to be able to move them, 'cause gravity will. The challenge could be about steering the ball, and landing it as close to a target marker as possible.

How about a basketball style game where the cranes have to drop objects through progressively smaller/taller hoops? Also, crane breakdancing competition needs to happen. Mag plate to the ground and see who has the best moves! This is one of your best series to date and I look forward to it each week! Your scenario has breathed new life into Space Engineers and I'm hooked all over again, recently hitting the 700 hour mark. Somehow that bus is begging for 5x5 rear wheels so it looks like a post-apocalyptic hotrod. Lean into that Road Warrior aesthetic.

Another cool competition very much themed with this series would be 3D puzzle. Give everyone collection of chunks with merge blocks ready and ask to put it back together. First one to put it together wins. One rule is you can't modify anything but can use whatever works for lifting and attaching.

Splitsie you can also turn the bus into a flyer when you find more atmosphere thrusters I don't know how many atmosphere thrusters you will need but it would make a good flyer and you can use it to get more stuff

You should do a destruction derby event with captured scrap rovers. That sounds amazing.

Twist on the building in a scrap situation. Build a multi bay "shop" where the contestants cannot see what the others are doing. Give each shop bay the same materials. Set a build time, and see what each builder (or team) comes up with. Then they have to test it, in a use case they are told/shown up front. It will be interesting to see how given the same parts how each will solve the problem.

After watching you still need to do three or four point turns sometimes, I have an idea for your telehandler: a button on your hotbar to enable front wheel steering at just as high of an angle as the back wheels. It'd allow for an even tighter turning circle when you need it. And if you can spare a timer (or just use multiple buttons) you could have it also set your wheels to invert steering on opposite corners and propulsion on opposite sides, letting you spin in place, as a substitute for the 90 degree steering angle of real forklifts And on the topic of ways different people approach things, if I were on the server, I'd probably go with a gantry-type crane, possibly with a goal of upgrading to a giant mobile base that also had a gantry crane

Still wondering why you haven’t made a mobile salvager vehicle that grinds things in a box with a platform that pushes things down into grinder. Then you can cut parts, pick them up and put them inside grinder. Keep going around and eat the world

If you find another bus, you can turn it into a sold-as-surplus battle bus from fortnite. Would make an interesting piece for the scrapyard. A smaller version could be the magic school bus. :)

i really wish they kept the rusty look of the parts they add to the rover and base it looses the scrap ascetic just looks too shiny and new for scavenged parts and just to be clear they dont need to keep the totaly rusted look but at the varry least some rust

You should make a attachable basket for the telehandler, so that you can use it as a cherry picker for building

What will be the endgame of Srrapyard? I think that there should be a unique datapad (can only appear once per game) that gives you coordinates to a spacestation that you need to reach to save yourself (Space Engineer ending). Destroy the drones and their base at the poles (combat ending). Create a faction, convince all players to join, create a faction grid/hamlet/base to resist three drones attacks (survival-coop ending). You probably have those ideas already, but just in case you do not. Also, having three different endings increases the replayability of your mod.

And you thought lifting the bus was hard. Now you’re lifting a warehouse :P

Dunno if the drill of damocles you've got above your hook control panel is really that great for building confidence. Or maybe I've got it backwards and it does show full confidence. You'd give an OSHA official a stroke climbing the arm of the telehandler like that, as well. Truly your warehouse is a wonder of a place. 22:34 Much as the other cargo was considerably more spectacular, I do quite like the little satellite dish on that rover. Can't tell if it spawns like that or was built after. 34:14 Seeing the school bus on its side like that reminds me that, for vehicle maintenance, you still need to deal with that building you rolled back to your place. Were it larger, it would be cool to see some sort of small grid piston array as a variable length lift - they come in from the sides, adjust to the vehicle's width, and then lift the whole thing off the floor so you can maintenance them. As it is now, the bus wouldn't even fit halfway into the thing, so it's not going to help there, but it still is another project that kind of needs doing. That, and scrapping whatever that little thing in there is. After all, if scrapping vehicles fully off those pads is such a pain, you can instead slate them for repair and use, or put them into the arena courses either as decor or as challenge obstacles.

I'm not a good enough player for this server - it'd take me 5 times longer to do anything half as good. One awesome idea (imho) though is to have a "community scrapheap" as at 45:00 you mention "I have enough of these I don't need them any longer" - a central hub everyone can drop off spare parts gives a new reason for people to still collect scrap they might have grown out of.

@Splitsie Serious question: Why not just set GPS markers for things you want, but cannot currently carry, so you can go back after unloading to retrieve them? I was starting to think GPS was not allowed or limited or something, but then you set a marker halfway home from the warehouse you found.

19:45 if you look back at the older footage you had a welding plate attached to the Gyroscope at the time. Thats a possibility to why you could easily move it then.

Splits, hear me out: Bowling Alley. You spin a wheel on a suspension, align it left and right, up and down with pistons, and detach. Lane with two ditches left and right. Needs some welders for auto creating and placing pins and welding the ball/wheel and grinder for a grinder pits in the end of the lane, for auto collecting the pins/ball materials tho. also 54:30 & 59:08, you know what's quicker? converting that flat bed to be dump able flat bed. You know the one that rotates to dump stuffs (idk what it's called lol)?

Oh Splitsie...forever trying to improve your creations. I feel your pain!!! I'd power through more gameplay if i'd ever stop tinkering with my builds.

@Splitsie You know real life American school busses have incredibly tight turn radiuses right? Getting the front wheels to 80° isn't difficult or uncommon. (there are some that can go to 90°, and some that also have rear wheel steering) They need it to compensate for how long they are. "Handling like a bus" refers to how heavy and long it is, not to how wide the turn radius is.

I love the idea of this scenario, I'm currently trying it myself how do I get that automatic wreckage cleanup? I got the scrap beacon but it seems useless if the system doesn't clean up. So I have to manually delete salvaged structures myself. Lastly, would your assertive mods work on the scenario? I'd like to use it since your polar defenders aren't public, I think it would be fun to try and get assertive tech while playing this scenario.

Could you use Grabby Hands to play Scrapsketball: like basketball, but scrap themed. Use the lg curved armor panels to make a hoop and maybe sg curved armor corners to make a ball. Simplified rules. Yadda yadda yadda.

Would be nice if the mod generating the points of interview was updated to have more POIs. Or maybe Splitsie is getting unlucky? I hope someone makes a grinding pit :D Well, if they have large grid grinders

You have gathere lots of materials, especially compared to many other bases you encounter. Id like to see the crane truck and trailer improved, which could help salvaging, by being more stable and capacity. I prefer watching the builds to salvaging so I could be biased.

I really enjoy the scrapyard videos. They're pretty much the only hour long videos I will watch. I can't play the game but I really enjoy watching. I hope there will be many more. Don't forget to put pylons on your crane truck.

For the warehouse upper storage, how's this for a shelving idea: mound the mag plates to the back wall sideways. Sticky side down. So shelf on top, sticky side switchable underneath

FYI splitsie, the last time I played the scrapyard scenario I was allowed to build grid drills, grinders, & welders from the G menu. You may want to double check that.

Ok Splitsie, did you even consider just disconnecting from the trailer, moving the bus onto the back and then re-connecting? OR did you just want to see if you could...

Competition idea: clang golf. Contestants build a contraption to throw a block as far as possible towards a marker. Make it fair by limiting the number of components allowed. The block must fly with no extra blocks attached.

Splitsie, you is like me bilding in space engineers i love seeing you video's i not good at doing some tasks or coding the center piece of MY BASE the power network and the items network i did scrap yard tipe like you but i fucgb it up just doing shit not like scrapes... Using drills to mine the piece of mountain who has back on my base if you do like a skin spleren or a butcher putting the meat=scrap to trade or use i will do like this video ok !!!!!!

13:55 Last episode I was thinking you could add a small connector to the tip of your telehandler and be able to pick up the pallets without having to change every time. If you mount it to the side and just behind the magnetic plate, you won't have to change anything. This time I thought if you add a Helm to a pallet, when you pick it up, you now have a Liftsie for things like this. Or if your telehandler has an antenna, you don't need a helm.

Pretty sure that the van with the med. cargo also has a big battery. Other than that... maybe you wanted to use the second warehouse for that train unloading thing I suggested earlier? (Speaking off... how is that diesel?)

for the event, please make a holographic projector on a rotor and have it display a blueprint of a ball with Letters " welcome to Splitsie's Junk Yard " or something like that

The pile of H2 engines was nothing, I had that truck and trailer packed with 3 times that on the previous trip. The truck and trailer handle very well and have a very low COM so it is not a big deal.

A random pile of components, enough for everyone to use then a finish line 100 km away, build use scrap mechanics and race, first rover then fly, then roll, then push your way over the finish line

I had an idea for a gantry crane I want you to try. I’d do it myself but I don’t have a good enough PC to run Space Engineers. Start by putting a post at either end of your warehouses widest ends. At each post attach as many pistons as are necessary to meet in the middle with a block in the middle. Set the pistons up so that when one moves in the other(s) move out. On the block between the first two pistons attach a rotor and then to that a hinge. To that hinge attach as many pistons as are necessary to reach from front to back of your warehouse. Hopefully it works out okay.

Battery management suggestion: Hot bar switch or programmable block script (or both) that turns off all but one small battery when the parking brake is on.

43:54 "Is there anything else..." grinds away a large battery between the two hydro engines... hopefully not something you wanted I guess xD.

If the large object is not going to be used or will not be used for a long time, then you can consider making a frame out of small squares, giving it an industrial style packaging, and adding a magnetic board at the bottom. I think it will become a suitable decorative warehouse object

Dear MR Splitsie i have a question in your rover more specifically your crane how do you have your bottom hinge setup cause mine keeps locking itself at home position and i have to move the limiter to unlock it kind regards i await you're wisdom

Well… storing big and heavy items high…. We don’t do that usually in our storage rooms because of safety and health protection concerns.

I saw a couple of sound blocks on the helicopter and I don’t think you ground those down. They have 3 computers each so definitely keep those in mind.

Just in case you didn't think of this, with the whole school bus drama, you could unlock your trailer truck and drive it around to put the bus on (just the heck, leave the bus rolling on its front)

Do those scrap POI despawn if you miss them? Why not put down a GPS marker at the new arehouse and come back later?

you could imagine another kind of lifter competition where 2 teams of engineers face each other in a kind of American football match using lifters/cranes too move a sphere from one side of the stadium to the other this would be extremely fun (and clangy)

Is there some kind of story behind why the world of this series the way it is? I don't think I ever recall one being addressed or mentioned. If I were to guess, the space engineers were dispatched to check on a distant colony world that's gone silent. Paradropped in their small rover, connection to the mothership is lost before they've even hit the ground. Stranded in a desolate and hostile wasteland the engineers are forced to use their talent and ingenuity to escape the planet and return to their home. Unfortunately they didn't account for the remnants of the planetary government fortifying the poles to the extreme in an attempt to hoard the most valuable resource of all. Water.

I actually think since you've got that big crane you should pick up the other windmill and stand it up before somebody comes and takes it

Idea I had for your battery situation for your multiple small grid creations. Have an access battery pack of small batteries you can unhook and charge on the base and you can have have extra incase of emergencies

I'm not sure the mag plate back wall really make the scrap workshop theme quite like an engine suspended from the ceiling would

How about a hammer throw with a crane truck? Pick up a relatively heavy block, do donuts and release, see how far you can send it!

I don't know why you didn't just add wheels and another hitch assembly to the trailer and bus. Lack of parts perhaps?

Your crane vehicle always has too little weight. You always build very light vehicles that sway when the crane extends further. ^^

Im having an idea for a vehicle built inside a sphere. A chair attached to an arrangement of tires that drive inside the sphere to make it move, steering and stablized with gyros. Is something like that possible in space engineers?

@14:00 you could have just flattened your telehandlers pickup to the flat of the drill and then angled it upright. So the drill would hang down and be flat against the magplate
