In today's video, Chuck shows how to make a basic leather quiver. Chuck uses Chicago screws to attach the spine to the main body, this is an easy way to do this since the body is in a cylinder shape. You could also lace the spine, hand stitch it, or even use rivets! The sky is the limit on how intricate you want your quiver to be, add tooling, stamping, or even fringe!

As an archer and a hobby leather smith this one is right up my alley. I really want to do more leather work. It is one of the MOST rewarding hobbies I have ever had. It also seems a bit of a natural. The first holster I made from a kit I bought at hobby lobby sold at a school auction for $155! If you are thinking about taking up leather work do it! The tools are not that much in fact the weaver 2.0 kit has most of what you will need for under $200. I make double that at one craft show with just my keychains.

I am making my first quiver.. except I’m doing a semi flat oval bottom and slight rounded top. I can just incorporate the thicker bottom gluing the added piece in the same shape. I am also experimenting with stamping and easing into it. I am also using my stitch Grover to make long diagonal lines with a small non important punch inside each diamond. Where the lines intersect, I will put in a copper domed spot. The quiver will have a wider shoulder strap and then taper to the 1” strap with buckle. I am also doing Copper rivets instead of the Chicago screws but I have a blacksmith anvil to get those rivets set. I know this will make this a piece that won’t come apart easily but I don’t plan on it. Using your pattern I’m slightly altering it. Thanks for the tips

I had an old edge-stitched nail box for roof workers. It was a complete leather box with sharp corners AND A SPACER INSIDE. It separated the box into two compartments. It must have been sewed inside using some realy obscure delayed stitching. Also leather was like 10 mm thick. Solid work.

Chuck, I've been doing a little watermolding myself based upon your instructions. Q: if one chooses to line the bottom of the quiver with soft chrome tan, can you still water form it, given that the bulk of the piece is still veg-tan? Say, glue the chrome on what will be the inside of the quiver bottom first. Then form the lined veg-tan around the circular shape...will that work? I am kinda on a lining theme right now. Thanks for the videos.

Chuck, I have watched this video many times for reference, I am building one of these quivers myself with some personal variations. One thing I can figure out completely...Is this quiver meant as a belt quiver, a back quiver, or a belt -waist quiver with an over the shoulder harness? I don't think you mention this at all in the video, and the strapping seems too short for over the shoulder, but oriented wrong for a belt style attachment. Can you clarify for me please. I really like your videos, learned a lot and actually crafting some myself. Thanks, keep filming.

For anyone making this, the spine pattern on the website link is wrong! 18" will only fit 9 holes plus the turn over, it has to be 19 3/4" I cut it and luckily tried it on the body and couldn'twork out how I had one hole short, luckily I haven't cut the smaller billet yet, so I'm going to cut that longer and put an extra set of holes in and hope it balances ok 🤞😂

That back quiver is like a tube too thick mate > when you bend forward your arrows are going to rattle and even fall out. Have a look at Howard Hill videos his back quiver was soft leather > conforms to his back preventing the arrows from falling out ! My vintage Fred Bear back quiver is entirely made from 5oz ( 2mm) leather, with a piece double over each end !
