Thank you Heidi! I love all the handmade products. I love your channel! I have made so many things over the past few years inspired by you. Yesterday got a killer bee-sting. I mean it hurt. After pulling the stinger, I ran to the plantain, chewed it up and plastered it on. Almost instant relief of the severe burning! Appreciate you!

Mullein is a biennial so will die after its second season. But you'll usually get so many seeds from the flower stalk that eventually you'll have more than you want. I cut the stalk once they were done flowering, love the flowers for ear aches and infections, so I can broadcast them where I want them to grow next year.

My mullein never made it….lots of things didn’t. I need to find a better way to get rid of those gnats! Will be doing research because I WANT veggies and herbs to grow!!!! I've learned that using 100 proof works well, it's 50% alcohol, 50% water, that will extract both alcohol and water soluble properties and you don't have to worry about doing a bunch of math to figure the amounts to take!

A lot of my plants and herbs the bugs ate up this year not many pollinators just bad bugs . But I do have many tinctures, extracts and dried herbs from other places. Thanks for sharing I didn’t realize you could use tequila . Do you use fresh herbs and dried for tinctures I’m still not sure some say not to use fresh
@reibersue4845
@reibersue4845 8 дней назад
You can use fresh or dried for alcohol infusions. For fresh plant just use a higher proof alcohol because the water in the plant material will dilute it. Only use dried with oil infusions. Water from fresh will make the oil go rancid quickly.

@@cookiewilcox5082 I dont know the exact definition of heirloom seeds. I do know that God allows plants to cross pollinate to create new varieties. I grew cucumbers last year. Straight 8s and pickling ones and saved seed. I planted my straight 8 seed and discovered I had a cross between the 2 and worked out great for me.
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 8 дней назад
@@cookiewilcox5082 I suggest doing some research on how heirloom seeds are created
@RainCountryHomestead
@RainCountryHomestead 8 дней назад
I went ahead and gathered some information for you but you can still do a deeper dive if you would like to learn: "Heirloom Seeds Heirloom seeds are passed down from generation to generation using open pollination. This means that the changes that have occurred in the development of heirloom plants are characteristics that have happened naturally over the course of time. To be considered an heirloom variety, the species of plant must be at least 40 years in the making. Over years and years of cultivation, heirloom plant varieties develop resistance to certain diseases and pests and learn to thrive in particular climates. Heirloom seeds can be purchased at nurseries and garden centers near you, but the best way to get your hands on heirloom seeds is through local seed exchanges. This way, you are getting heirloom cultivars that have become better suited to growing in your area. Heirloom seeds can be saved and planted year after year. They are never hybrids or GMO’s. Hybrids are crosses between different heirloom cultivars. GMO seeds are genetically modified in a laboratory for large scale production. Generally speaking, heirlooms have superior taste, quality, and hardiness when compared to all other seed types. Most often, heirloom seeds will have been grown under organic conditions, though this is not always" Above information collected from this page: www.gardeningchannel.com/heirloom-vs-organic-seeds-explained/

I still put them in a jar with vodka hoping to make a tincture but I don't know how it will be with whole roots rather than pieces. I even took them out after a week in the vodka and tried again to cut them with out luck. Have you tried this? Any ideas on if it's OK like this or just a waste of alcohol?

Thanks, Heidi, I appreciate your work! I have a few questions, I hope that's okay. I put away nastirtium, comfrey, and jewelweed last fall. The jewelweed says in glycerin, and I am not sure why, I have done it in oil in the past to make a salve. Is this usable? Do I have to strain and make a liquid to drink, is there any benefit? I know you don't use glycerin anymore, but I was watching an older video. Also, the nasturtium doesn't say what its in, what should it be in, please? Maybe my daughter will help me investigate, lol...the comfrey is in avocado oil, so, I think I can use your recipe with the beeswax pastilles, to make more salve?? Thanks so much!! It's been a crazy year, with another move, so, I am definitely late getting to these! Thank you for your help, God bless you.
