I cannot wait to try this recipe, my brother hates caramel cake because the one's he has tried were all too sweet for him. And I have baked cakes using your recipes and his always enjoyed them and he sure will enjoy this recipe without a doubt❤
An alternative is to make buttercream and mix some caramel with it! Pipe a dam in between the layers and pour this caramel in the center, and do the final outer layer in buttercream (a drip decoration on top of the cake with thr caramel can also tie everything together beautifully)
I made this cake yesterday. It turned out decently. I would add in the future more moisture on cake layers, milk or syrup. For some reason, my caramel sauce started separating in the pan, and it was hard to tell whether it was done or not.
Ok girl! When you said "southern carmel" you got me! Being a black southerner I grew up on carmel ice done on the stovetop!❤ Next time try it in a cast-iron skillet. It's the best! Can't wait to try this.
Hey can I ask if the southern caramel is like Dulce de Leche? Coz Im looking for a lil shortcut 😅 it seems a lot of work to babysit a caramel cooking on stovetop like that. For those that aren’t nifty handed bakers it threw me off, I’ve burnt a few sugars on stovetop before 😂
@mencot89 Yes similar. It's VERY sweet and the same consistency. To me, it's very hard to make and get that spreading consistency. I've burned me, the skillet and the icing all at the same time before. I'll keep trying tho 😆
Your recipes are great! Thanks so much for sharing! Please may I know how long the caramel frosting can sit outside the fridge without going bad? 🙏🙏🙏🙏 Thanks in Anticipation. God bless you
Tried the cake! It wasn’t too sweet but I thought the caramel was too milky although I was scared I’d burn it so I probably didn’t let it brown enough towards the end. I did love the cake recipe on its own though and would make that again. So yummy and nostalgic! Thank you!
I tried your recipe and was very detailed in following your instructions. I also watched your "common baking mistakes" video (great tips). However my cake came out very dry. The only variation from the recipe was I used 9" pans instead of 8". My frosting also did not work out. It tasted great and not super sweet, but it never looked as smooth and creamy as yours. It took almost 2 and a half hours to reduce to the correct consistency, but had some residual oil from the butter that never incorporated into the frosting and really began to sepaarate even more as it cooled. I probably had about a quarter cup of oil that separated after letting it cool for 25 minutes. The frosting took on the constancy of actual carmel, and was impossible to spread on the cake with a knife. I ended up rolling some of it out to the desired thickness and and laying it on the cake like a sheet. I was able to smooth out some by adding more evaporated milk and reheating, it but even that quickly solidified when no longer heated. I have no Idea what I could have done to screw it up so bad.
I made my own sour cream, just using 3ingredient (cream, lemon juice & some milk) leave it for 24hours & ready to use.. got the recipe at yt bold baking channel

Thanks so much :D and yesss I've actually tried that before and it turned out great, you just want to make sure the caramel is firm so pop it into the fridge for a few hours before whipping it :)
I already liked before watching because I know it's a banger 🎉🎉🎉 Just finished watching and I'm going to try this out. But would like to ask is there an alternative for sour cream

Heya! So so happy to hear you loved the eggless vanilla cake recipe :D unfortunately I haven't tried an egg substitute for this recipe so can't recommend anything at this stage sorry :(
Hi MK!!! I hope you reply, I am 14 and I really love baking I started baking when I was 11 I really want to start selling your cake and I was thinking I could make a combined cake and your coffee cake as a first layer then caramel cake, and repeat those two layers again and for the frosting I could do the whipped white chocolate ganache frosting and between the cake layers I could do the caramel frosting from this video please let me know if anyone likes this combo then I will hopefully try this.
Hii! :D That combination sounds INCREDIBLE! I think those flavours work really well together :) I would recommend trying it out and see how it tastes :D

Hey! The entire recipe is absolutely amazing , but can we substitute sour cream with anything else ? We don’t get sour cream in the place where I live ..?😅
Ohhh que rico😊, graciasss 💖. 👏 👏 Maravilloso. Puedo hacer esta tarta con tu biscocho de mantequilla? O sería demasiado.??..Tengo que hacer un biscocho para este sábado 😮
You're welcome! :D Yes you can use another base cake recipe too, though the brown sugar in the cake layers for this recipe add an extra hint of caramel :)
Assalaamualaykum Maryam... Hope you can help me... I want to know if a cake recipe calls for 4 Xlarge eggs but I have Jumbo eggs will I still use the same amount of eggs or less.?
Wassalaam! :) I would weigh out the eggs to match the size of the large eggs, e.g. 1 large egg is about 62g, whereas a jumbo egg is around 68g. For 4 large eggs you want around 248g :) hope that helps!
slms , I wanted to try your pineapple cake but I cannot get the pineapple in juice any suggestion was think of removing the syrup and then adding juice do you think it will work jzk
