@@cupcakeman3454 Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! LG has had "class leading stereo recording and Quad Dac/Amp" Headphone jack for a while now. Yes, and before Samsung went to 18/9+, thin bezels, hdr, back finger print readers, dual cameras on the Galaxy S8, Note 8 and those that followed LG led the industry that way with the LG G6 and V30. Along with the ultra wide angle and dual and triple camera front and rear setups everyone is doing now. ANd pro camera, video, sound modes specifically made for creative vloggers, over the totally automatic but great auto modes of apple, samsung and google. Including Huawei, Samsung, and even Sony. LG was even was the first with a curved OLED display in a phone, not to mention they had the first all touch smart phone in prototype form "The LG Prada" which was winning awards six months before the iPhone debut. The Prada had downloadable apps, something the first iPhone did not have. The iPhone though was the first with multitouch, , which was huge in a phone and had a much better screen and apps, and was a much much better phone. When Samsung was rumored to copy Apple and get rid of the sd card and headphone jack, Samsung actually got rid of the SD card, and removable battery on all their Galaxy and Galaxy Note line, and it blew up in their face, customers complained big time and the note caught fire, and they learned their lesson not to copy Apple. Especially with all the apple lawsuits against them, even for making a rectangular phone. Samsung got smart and they brought the sd card back, but not the removable battery which LG saved for another 2 years. That's why their is no notch on Samsung's phone , LG had the notch already with the 2015 LG V10 and 2016 V20, it was to the top left side on the "faux" second screen. Before Sharp, Essential, and Apple. LG simply gets no respect for all they have done to move the smartphone world forward. Make no mistake they do not have the software engineers that apple and samsung have, or money, market share, and many of their features are gimmicky, unrefined and lack polish, and they don' develop them as much as they can, and they have terrible slow system updates, bad UI skins, and lots of bloatware, and in the past bootloop problems. The mobile business is a money loser for LG, with their smartphones, but they stay in it, because they make money on the screens, batteries, and other mobile things they sell to Apple and other vendors. Which would be hard to do without a mobile phone presence in the marketplace. LG is very innovative, they try new things first, rarely copy, but do sometimes like everyone, but they virtually never get credit for what they have done. That goes to apple and samsung usually Plus they are famous for their quad dac and stereo recording, it is one of the few unique features they still lead the industry in, now that everyone's Flagship, for the most part, has gone ultra wide and has holes and notches blocking content in the screen.(cept Sony, Nokia) I would say that a lot if not most of their flagship sales are because of their audio features and headphone jack and pro manual modes in video photo and audio, and their lower prices after a few months in the market compared to apple and samsung. Rant over.
*TL;DR: LG ROCKS* Honestly, in my opinion LG is the best smartphone brand right now (even though OnePlus gets close). Here's why: - Their dual-camera-setup is by far the one that makes the most sense, having a super wide angle lense that can capture really impressive shots instead of some weird extra depth-camera for portrait mode (yes, I know that the S10 and others feature a super wide angle lense as well, but LG kind of invented it back when they launched the G5) - THEY KEEP THE HEADPHONE JACK, THANK YOU SO MUCH LG
Most people when they see lg think it's cheap or they have horrible phones that's why they dont market hard enough and bc they need some features that stand out more than just a wide angle camera etc but i love lg and i prefer an lg phone or android still over apple .!!!
Probably the best review I've seen for the phone so far.. most other reviewers don't give as much effort in their LG reviews.. kudos to you my good sir.. I also just ordered my g8 today.. can't wait till it gets here
Best preview on this phone so far. Other previewers did not take the time to test the features and just dismissed the entire phone and disrespected it because it was not apple or samsung or they did not have the time.
that hand scan and the gestures are useful for when your phone is on the table and instead of picking it up for fingerprint scanner just show your hand. It's not that fast but its good to have
Oh look a manufacturer that is doing something different, let me just complain that it's not like an iPhone and a Samsung. Then later on whine why all phones look the same.
Lol u said it mate. LG is always trying new stuff on their phones. They basically bring out fresh ideas that get perfected by other companies later on. N yet, they always get bashed by people for not following the norm. I got a V30 and while it's not the best device out there, its half decent. Does everything that I need it to do, n does so pretty well. I will keep buying LG phones as long as they keep that sweet quad Dac. N all the new innovations r always welcome.
It will probably cost 800-900 € and about 100-150 cheaper than the V50 I bet. that's the problem with LG. Aside from that, this phone looks really good, with great cameras, well-rounded and with a 3500mAh battery, it comes closer to modern flagships. But regardless of that, I bet it still has good battery life. I owned a V30 and now own a V35 and with the battery on that I could do around 5-8 hours of Screen-On-Time on the daily. Then there's the little quirks of the UI. It's funny how I ended up loving the UIs that everyone hates/dislikes the most. To me LG UX and EMUI are some of the most practical, if not the most practical, user interfaces out there.
I've had an LG G2 for a long time, but been having trouble with the short battery life and it turning off for no apparent reason lately, so I just upgraded to this phone. Can't wait to get it!
LG is the real underdog compared to Apple and Samsung. I am proud to use LG. Stop being sheep and lead your own way. LG has done this with touchless technology.
galaxy s10 is great, but i can 100% see the hand ID becoming even more useful. air gestures were actually a thing since the s6 series (or somewhere around there, i had it one my s6 active believe it or not, i could scroll through screen by swiping up or down or across "pages" etc...) so im sure with this level of tech, you will be able to control far more, far easier. I love LG phones.
I just got this phone today. Along side of my wife's s10 plus. This phone is superior to the Samsung. Dont believe the negative reviews, its an awesome phone
I've had Samsung for years. My current phone is the S7 Edge that I've had for over three years now. I've been curious about LG phones... One thing I miss and am irked that Samsung got rid of is the hands free, Jedi stuff that was on the S4. The LG G8 might just be my next phone.
LG sticking to same twin camera config that was released on G5. Expected much more in camera department considering processing power of snap 855. I'm LG fan but G8 is expected to have same fate like earlier G7. May survive the competition if released at 650 USD.
cant wait to get this phone for 3-400 next year. and this isnt a criticism, lg phones just depreciate so steeply that theyre never worth buying on release
I want to get this phone is great. It has neat fetures that I can see using. Is great to be able to open the phone without using the hands. LG so underrated love my LG G7 thingq.
Hand gestures are not finely tuned and needs more features and app support ,LG should work on it and pass updates for this with more gesture s sensing techniques .
Haven't had an Android phone in years and immediately chose LG VS Samsung when choosing this year. The G8 has a headphone jack, the same processor, rear fingerprint reader, and a price significantly cheaper than the new Galaxy device. Seemed like a no brainer to me. Yeah it's got a little less RAM than the Galaxy S10 but who really needs to have more than that?
I'm watching this on a g7 looks like I'm not missing much apart from the bigger battery, ram and oled display. g7 is really cheap right now its a power house on par with the high ends only 10 months old too
@@geroton6776 well the battery is 500mah more then g7 at 3000mah not drastic the ram is 2gb more then g7 4gb only major difference is camera and oled display that's not saying ips display is bad either. Plus thing is g8 will be 400$ in 60days of releasing due to bad marketing.
It’s called Kinect Xbox created that many many years ago. Seems easier to just touch the phone and it should be water proof enough for bathtub use. If the Kinect feature is the focus not good
This phone , since it's an upgrade to G7 which is a fantastic one, looking really promising n with a beautiful design! I like pretty much the fact that LG has kept the Headphones port n Notification led, as well, instead of Samsung bad move to remove them. Good job by LG!
The only downside for me is lack of software update. Hopefully, it can help you guys to decide... My v40 still stuck in december 2018 security patches..
This is a very good phone. It's display is the only rival to the s10plus. If your on T-mobile the price is 620.00. Excellent price for what's offered. The perfect phone for audiophile fans. The 32bit DAC is best in class. A very good offering by LG!
Extreme security, fingerprint is the most efficient & fastest, face unlock is great for when your going pick t the phone up to your face anyway & hand vein unlock for unlocking without picking up & vein humoglobin for extremely secure sensitive stuff, but most of all it looks like essential & iPhone x put together I will buy over the G10, plus sound & pics are the best.
LG cell phones are very nice but this phone is even far better than all iPhones software wise this has the advance software than any other mobile phones but one thing if this phone has three slots for dual sims and for the micro SD card that will be far better because most of the people want three different slots because they want to use them simultaneously all the times expect that this phone is awesome. Keep it up LG engineers. I wish you all the best.
I will get g8 or V50s of LG. It has to be LG because of quad DAC. And other features are as same as Galaxy models. But LG phones have more reasonable price. Good for me.
No one ever seems to mention the Quad DAC, or even test the headphone jack quality. It's the reason I just bought the G8 ThinQ, upgrading from a V20. I guess audiophiles still don't come into consideration. Mine arrives tomorrow, can't wait to load my music onto it.
Overheating due to heavy usage with a lot occupied phone memory (50% or more). Best solution was normal use and everything kept in a memory card. I have g4 (608 serial number) since end of 2016 with no problem and i am completely satisfied till today👍😉
Yeah but you could just dab your hand on a towel so it doesn't drip, but your hand could still have water on it which would get on the screen if you used it with your finger.
What I want to say is that it is very difficult to make these interactions. If you wipe your hand on the towel, it is best to wipe dry enough to touch the screen. The phones are already waterproof and there have smart assistants. The Galaxy S4 tried to do this a lot of time and in the end it becomes just a feature that is not used in practice.
G6 owner here... Im due an upgrade in the next couple of months. Im not sure if im sold on this, or to go for a Huawei or mayby samsung s10. Hand gesture to me is something of a gimmick that I dont think I would ever use. It seems to me other phones of this generation have better specs. Decions decions
Right now im stuck with a 2 year old lg stylo 2 that has: 1. A completely shattered screen with a large piece missing on the bottom 2. Heating problems, especially during summer 3. And another problem with the phone freezing for a few seconds at random moments 4. And the battery dies too fast but thats to be expected from a 2 year old phone So to look at this phone makes me sad
Great phone but I feel like idiot when weaving the hand over phone, specialy when my gestures are not picked up in first place. Even if I ever get lg g8 I will never use those gestures and....it doesnt impresses me honestly
