Well presented Jason, and well piped too!! My mother made the bag and bellows covers for all the new instruments my father made. He also refurbished and repaired many historic sets that were made by other makers, including Harrington, Taylor, Coyne, Kenna and more - So long as the sets reached his workshop, they had an excellent chance of survival; thankfully, many of these sets are played to-day.

Thank you Helena, I have heard some of the pipes that passed through your father's workshop and he certainly knew what he was doing. Hands full indeed!

I put together a practice set of my own that you could blow instead of using a bellows. It's the one that is in my profile picture. It worked beautifully. I hope to one day save up enough money to afford a bellows, so that I can play traditional cane reeds.

Ah great stuff, best to get a bellows as soon as you can, the moisture won’t do much good for the wood and learning to drive the air properly is tricky for getting started! All the best with your piping :)

@@sionrouse Do you know of any vendors who would make a bellows but is more affordable? I don't need anything fancy. I can play with synthetics because they don't hold moisture but I am limited on how long I can play.

@@dominiclapinta8537 hmm, my recommendation have recently closed shop, but if you can get a hold of a second hand set of Kelleher bellows that would be a great investment

Hi very nice video ! Thank you ! I recently had the privilege to inherit a Leo Rowesome fullset, so I began to learn how to play. My progression is going quite well because i've been playing Highland bagpipes for 20 years. I would love to exchange with you on how to adjust it at its best, and maybe how/where to find a good bass regulator reed wich I don't have so far. Keep on !

Excellent stuff! Those old sets aren’t easy to learn on, especially a full set. They have 10 times the maintenance of a modern set so be prepared for some issues. But when they’re working it’s incredible. Your experience with the highland pipes should help and see if there’s any good players or teachers near. Congratulations on the pipes!

@@sionrouse Thanks, I know some people who make pipes so I allready changed the bag wich was too old and leaky and the chanter which was broken and had no keys ! I'm on a journey of learning now :)

What are the names of the tunes you played at the end? Great video

The first one is Carolan’s Concerto, one that Leo recorded and is amongst his best. Second is O’Donnell’s March, another Leo one. He was a good man for the marches!
