From what I could see you have an OS 61 FX, which is one of the best 2 stroke engines available. I have 3 of them and love them all. When you did the vertical test on the engine and it sagged it looked like you leaned it out more. If you did you went the wrong direction and you should have richened the high end needle valve. As far as the idle mixture goes, a good way to start that mixture adjustment is to open the idle mixture maybe a couple of turns so you know it's good an rich. Then advance the throttle about a 1/4 open and then start leaning the idle mixture until you get a good solid 2 stroke sound. But you are not finished here yet. Bring the engine down to the desired rpm and let it idle there for 15 to 20 seconds, then advance the throttle open to full. if the engine spits a sputters it's still too rich. If you advance the throttle to full open and it stalls or likes run out of fuel it's too lean. Make small adjustments in this process until you satisfy the engine. This engine is a real powerhouse and they run best on a 13 x 6 APC prop and they are the most reliable engines available. Enjoy that setup you have, it's a good combo. I hope this helps. Cheers Larry. Might take a look at OS. I know they always made the best Nitro engines. In fact my very first Nitro engine I had back in 1990 was an OS Max .15 on a control line model 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing the maiden Tim. Glad it went well. It's absolutely none of my business but in my experience I would ditch that second hand engine you got from wherever, and replace it with a brand new unit. Just some suggests: Glow 2 stroke = OS 46 or 55. Four stroke Glow = Saito 82. Petrol 2 stroke NGH GT9 Pro or Evo 10cc GX. Petrol 4 stroke = Saito FG14C. After all the effort you have put into the build it would be a shame for a poor engine to dead stick and damage it. As I say, just my two penneth. I'm putting together the same model as you and mine's having the Saito FG14C.
Great video You are simply trying to change the pitch of the airplane too quickly, which induces a stall. Generally, the airplane will tend to roll in the opposite direction the motor is turning (to the left) due to torque. A stalled wing offers very little wind resistance.
@@tdogrc yes it's a power stall at the top of the loop ,nice model failing to pick up from idol is often caused by too rich a mix on the lower end needle
