Just depends where you live! We get different waves of southern workers. All our guys here in WV are “white guys”. Have had 2-3 houses hung and finished by Mexicans. Usually only if the homeowner finds them or knows someone who runs them.

I'm almost 50. In my youngers years, I was. D-1 athlete, played in the CFL (never made it to the league), and I still compete I'm track to this day. I'm a great shape still able to fit in my college track uniform. Well, my father In law has done this work all his life. I'm good now, but let me tell you. When I started working with him doing, I was TIRED as hell. My hands were all cramped and swollen. Neck all stiff. Shoulders all sore to be damned. My back just wanted to leave my body at the job site and go on home. It was a new profound respect for carpentry. Props to any dudes (or ladies) that get down with this. You can work out all your life. Do this one day, one FULL day, and you'll realize the real deal!!!!

Hi and Hello. I gather people for a good cause: I wanna provide people with Links leading to bad or toxic people. Mobber, Racists, Sexists, Bullies, more. I got the Links and i need help with reporting them. RU-vid is in a bad state and i think you heard of that. Many complain about it, its strike-system and its CEO: Susan. But... I mean... complaining about the State of the world is nice and dandy, but... how about acting? Doing something? So i made a Wiki where i store Links for all to use. Yeah, unorthodox, i know, but whatever. Its my Try to help. You can at least pre-emptive 'block user' regarding the Racists and all those, but you can also do one thing more and report them. You surely know what a mess youtube is, so? What do you think about all this? I mean, its a good cause, improving the internet and the world, and it costs no money, just time. Nice or not? I'm sure this comment didnt made it all clear, but point is, i wanna act and help others to act, not just complain. If somethings not clear, ask Questions; that normally helps with confusion.

Dez Nutz drywall hangers develop hear issues at a higher rate than others in the trades. It's the overhead work causes the heart to work harder to get blood to the arms which need it. That is truth that gentleman stated and you insulted for reasons only you know. Ask yourself why.

You guys make it look easy.. Great job..i did drywall for a few years.. Never seen the stilts used. I worked on a 5 man crew.. Mostly custom homes with vaulted ceilings and rounded archways..it was always nice to see the finished product.. They always laid the drywall stacks flat on the ground in the center of the rooms..we would pin up our sheets with nails first..then come back and screw it off..unless it was a garage lid with hat track on it.. Danger 1 it was 30 years ago ..but i guarantee the crew i was on was the best out of Sierra West Drywall in Rocklin Ca.. I was the noob but the rest were the best.. Matter of fact one of the guys from that crew is in charge of things now..we did mansions with libraries and 5/6 bathrooms and bowling alleys and Maids quarters... Something you probably never even done before? We used scaffolding and aluminum sawhoreses.. 😜
@danger1240
@danger1240 6 лет назад
Mike Oberholtzer actually I have done a couple houses with bowling alleys in the basement, in fact I even boarded a bowling alley! Schools, hospitals, malls, and giant mansions with indoor pools and massive screening rooms , I live on the west coast and vaulted ceilings, arches, huge open concept areas are in just about every west coast contemporary house. Wow maids quarters isn't that special, well no not really I mean, it is just a little suite tacked on to the main, like just about every house in an urban area these days, though admittedly mostly used for a rental not a maid. Lots of standard 8-10' ceilings in all those examples. Great for stilt work I mean why climb up and down a bench all day burning out your legs? Couple guys on stilts will get the job done way WAY faster than a couple guys with benches. FYI they are really easy to walk on after you let go and just trust yourself on them. I do stairwells solo on my stilts either walking on a plank or doing the splits over them no wasted time building a scaff .That's just hanging board though , a mudder without stilts is even worse. My 20 some odd year old stilts with no padding left on the legs that cost me a couple bills back in the 90's has most likely made me a hundred grand, or more probably over the years just in time saved. True they Didn't really do my back any favours but what does in this trade?
@TheMjobie67
@TheMjobie67 6 лет назад
Danger 1 ok you got me on all that..basically i didnt see or here of stilts when i did drywall.. A whole 2 years or so..lol anyways like i said that was 30 years ago..i believe at that time we were doing it the fastest way possible... The quicker the job was done ..the more money the crew split. After they paid me my hourly rate..lol

I charged by the board, starting at 6 for straight 8’ houses and up depending on height of ceilings, number of stairways, skylights make a difference in pay...I have charged 12$ a bd...good money but it’ll make you old and worn out after 8-10 yrs

@@davidleeosbourne2727 Hi and Hello.

My best time was 2 days on a 220 board house with just a 2 man crew ( me and my 20 year hanging partner). I hung for 30 years, I’ve been retired now for 10 years. Are they paying any extra for the 54” board now. I used to get into it with contractors saying “ it’s not that much more work” I say bullshit, an extra buck a board isn’t a lot more money either. You can’t screw the ceilings from the floor, and it’s extra screws in every board. One reason I retired. Was over companies not paying double for high work anymore All the immigrants brought the pay down. That and 30 years is a lot of Sheetrock. You’ll get arthritis in your back after awhile. Take my advice, find a different trade BEFORE your back gets like mine.

the best thing for me about watching that was the cordless tools when i was hanging full time, i always tripped over the cords everywhere drove me crazy, after 43 years i dont hang anything big just repairs and small stuff but i love my cordless :-) great work guys

I feel the same way . What's even worse is seeing roofers with corded tools . They're already dragging around ropes then add some cords to the mix and you get situations where someone starts walking across the roof and their rope is pulling tools out of peoples hands .

This is one of the jobs my father would have me help with. We are both 6'6 so he wouldn't have to rent the stand that helps you do the ceiling work if i was there because we can both easily reach a standard ceiling height. Once you get into a groove it really goes fast. I had no problem hanging the sheetrock but i f'ing hated the mud work.

Hang plastic behind sheetrock on any house in Florida and i'll show you what extreme mold looks like 5 years later, you can't tell these yankee snowbirds a damn thing here in Florida they demand plastic sheathing behind the sheetrock while the only code is a vapor barrier on the outside sheathing. Prevent the moisture there outside and there's no need to fight that bullshit plastic taped or buttel taped to every top plate and corner that you have to cut back and out of the way any damn way!

I know many hangers that screw faster then the collated attachments for the cordless dewalt ... maybe the ones that attach to the corded drywall gun on a demising wall but if you miss you can’t pull the screws from the lid.
@chekurshi

Hilti with collated attachment (we call them auto heads here) is amazing. Got the cordless model a year ago, will never turn back. I always preferred the Hilti over the Dewalts for drywall guns though, just feel better to me. Didn't really like the Dewalt cordless.. but I probably didn't give it a fair enough shot. Use dewalt everything else though interestingly.
