I am really, relly glad you made a video about Hanhart. I never quite understood why they are so underrated, seeing how good they are at the price they're at. For someone who wants a Germanic pilot's watch and doesn't have IWC money, it seems an obvious pick. Great video, as per usual.
Yeah, that's the common thread with many German brands though... they're mostly small, therefore don't have IWC's marketing budget so they remain under the radar of the general public. They just focus on making quality pieces for the money and don't even brag about it!
It's only a matter of time. Their name is becoming bigger. Better quality then most high end watches with history and quality. They make watches of quality. Unpretentious, breitling rolex sell they're watches on the basis of branding and advertising. Hanhart sell on the basis of Quality only.
Great review. A highly underated watch brand. Love my 417 es. The hanhart team are fantatic....the whole package.. Watch.. Roll it comes with.. Little thank you extras.. I'll definitely be buying a hanhart again v soon
I heard from several places that they will be coming out with a smaller version of the 417 es, possibly even the original 39mm. WatchFinder & Co. also hinted at it in their video.... Didn't wanna mention it because it's hearsay but that would be awesome.
@@TOKKANTE.. I've heard same.. But on my wrist which isn't too big the new one fits perfect. The original 39 might be too small.. Which other reviewers have said.. Will see.. But for me.. Its the perfect size
True, I just bought a Longines LLD this weekend (great find, the NO DATE) and I was so concerned it would look huge on my wrist but in the end it looks just fine (I think) so a 39mm 417 might even look tiny!
@@TOKKANTE.. Great fine.. Cool watch.. And yeah.. Think the 39 of the 50 s 417 ( watches are different measurement wise by all manufacturers it seems) would definitely be too small even on my 7.5 inch wrist Enjoy the longine.. Look forward to a review of it
@@markbowman7240 Just brought it to the Longines Service centre over lunch today. They were super nice. Asked for a price on the Milanese mesh bracelet too so we'll see tomorrow what the estimate is on full service etc.
Great review Ben. An underrated brand making excellent vintage reissue watches. The red touches really pop. Thanks for reminding us of great German watchmaking
Under the order number 5100 54, around 5000 flyback chronographs were delivered from Hanhart as a reparations payment to the French Air Force, the L'Armee de l'Air, under the brand name VIXA Type 20 in the years 1954/55.
Oh thanks for the info, love these historical bits and even though I knew the Type XX was manufactured by several brands, and I might even have read about VIXA somewhere long ago, I did not know Hanhart was behind it. My dad was in the Armee de l'Air... but not back then!
I really like your review and already subscribed. I appreciate the details and insight you have for the watches you were talking about. Your video is not for entertainment but knowledge sharing and for collectors or enthusiasts who enjoy watches in general. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the sub! Yes, this is my style and personality, I'm not hyping anything or trying to be funny or turn it into a reality show, so these videos are just my takes and analysis of watches that I think represent good value!
Subscribed. Purchased a flieger chronograph reissue many years ago. VERY interested in the 417. That lamp is stunning! The reflection is simply beautiful!!!
Thanks for the sub! We are still waiting for that elusive 39mm 417 though... it was supposedly in the works but they have only released a new chocolate dial version since then. Oh, you're the second person who commented on the lamp, although I think the other viewer did not like it (the shade is from IKEA actually)!
I hear from several places that they quite possibly may/will come out with a smaller version of the 417 ES (maybe even the original 39mm). Even WatchFinder & Co. hinted at it (watch his video). I'm waiting for that!
@@nw9592 No, once again it's a limited edition that was probably already all sold out the minute it went on sale... Also, the dial is brown on this one if I am correct? Now that I got the IWC bronze, let's see if I get along with bronze before another one (my guts tell me I'd prefer the 417 in stainless).
I bet if German watch brands had the marketing communication budgets of BMW, Mercedes and Audi, they'd probably be much more "front of mind" in many people's purchase journeys...
Hi great review, im looking to buy a German watch and am torn between the 417 or the Sinn 105, they are both about the same price, which do you think are the better quality watch? Love you reviews.
Thanks for watching! Personally, in this case I would go with the 417 but it's mostly personal preferences. My reasons: it's a very well done reissue of a legendary watch, classic design (the Sinn is a much more modern design that somehow appeals less), very good finishing (the Sinn is bead blasted and I made a video on Sinn finishing and how I prefer their satinized finish), the movement which although also a Selitta is an appropriate classic hand-wound chrono with a longer power reserve (the Sinn also has a Selitta but a shorter power reserve if that matters), and overall versatility (the Sinn is sportier and may be less versatile depending what you do, how you plan to wear it). The Sinn is also built like a tank so no worries about that but in this particular case, I'd go for the Hanhard first. Also, you did not mention, but if you're considering the 105 UTC, be aware that it's not a true GMT if that matters to you.
@@TOKKANTE Hi, i have another question if i may, i am also looking at a Tutima watch but i'm finding it hard to find information on where and who make their cases and dials etc, do you know if they make their own watch parts or at least source all the parts from German watch makers? I wish companies were more transparent with things like this. Thank you
@@gregcarnall9097 You're right it's very hard to find info on Tutima. Even though they're very established, they also seem to be quite secretive and not widely available. In HK, there is no official AD and I have not been able to handle one yet, even though I have read very good reviews about their quality and case finishing for the price. I'm also interested in the M2 Seven Seas S blue dial in stainless steel and ceramic bezel, just disappointed about the tiny power reserve due to the movement used. You might have to dig the forums for this info!
@@lonewolfemcquade8133 Yes agree, but the issue is, what other 3rd party movement could they use that doesn't have one? I'm not sure there is one given their cost constraints, availability, etc. (or maybe they just didn't care but I bet they considered it)
@@TOKKANTE Hanhart should have modified the movement and took out the date wheel. That's what Aquastar did on the new Deepstar 2 and it's about the same price $2,200. I really love the Hanhart but I really don't like ghost date positions 😕 I rather have a date window then a no ghost date imop. I understand a ghost date on a sub 1k watch but a little over 2k it shouldn't have it
