When I first heard that after Cube left NWA and then got with The Bomb Squad, I was very skeptical with what his subject matter was going to be. My mind was utterly blown when I heard Amerikka's Most Wanted. Still one of my favorite hip hop classic albums.
@blazesimpson8830
@blazesimpson8830 4 года назад
NWA was influenced by PE that's why Cube turned to the Bomb Squad to pick up production where Dre left off at that time.

@elijahstraight402

@@blazesimpson8830 Yes & No. Dre and Yella did follow much of the same format the Bomb Squad used as it pertains to sampling to create bangers for P.E. Thus, there's similarities with the instrumentation or breakbeats used on certain albums like Straight Outta Compton and Fear of A Black Planet. However, the Shockley Brothers and the Bomb Squad's technique was more or less an extension of what other producers before them like Marley Marl and DJ Pooh & Bobcat were already doing as far as incorporating multiple samples for one record at a time

Heard Cube left NWA at summer football practice in 1989; by time school was about to let out next year, we got this classic album. I knew the Bomb Squad produced it, but it was amazing that the tracks didn't have a Public Enemy feel, just like Hank was talking about. The only PE feel we got were those two cameos by Flav. #salute

OK..I really just came to listen to Hank break down his involvement. Not really wanting to overstate the obvious; this was a stone cold, Hip-Hop work of art. The combination of East meets West, the climate at that time IN the genre, and the fact that this was gonna be Cube's moment of sink, or prove you can swim..with the Orca's of Hip-Hop if you will. These guys killed it on so many levels, and at the same time created another sub-genre of the art form. Anyone who was expecting Cube to fail, was picking their jaws up off the floor after hearing "The Product". THAT shit is the whole package. Great album. I'm a Metal/Hard Rock/Bass player, but if I ever wanted to make a Hip-Hop album..the Bomb Squad would be my first choice. Pete Rock second...Peace.

I started listening to hip hop about 88-the Golden era. I was about 10 in 88-89. White kid who fell in love with hip hop, especially groups like PE, NWA, EPMD, etc. It incredible to hear Hank Shocklees take on the different regions sounds at the time in hip hop when they were making Anerikkas most. Ironically I just saw a video on Cube coming to NY to look for Sam Sever, who produced 3rd Bass Cactus album to produce his first album but the story was that he couldn’t find Sam Sever so he called up Def Jam for Bomb Squad. It must’ve been destiny because AMW is an all time classic even the Death Certificate is my fav Cube album. Incredible story-thank god I grew up during this era

It depends on where you lived when he left NWA. Being from LA, we knew the real reason he left and it was justified and we embraced his move. Eazy-E was garbage at this point and the NWA thing was getting old, we knew he didn't write his own shit (violation) and he was wack and basically NWA music caused more black men in Los Angeles (crips & bloods) to kill themselves because of this music, crack, politics, etc.

I always laugh when people go on about Cube's albums after Lethal Injection being classics! All those albums can't even compete with Amerikkka's and never will! Back when Hip Hop was exciting and not some beatless loop and some guy boring the ass off you with his lazy style of rapping zzzzzzz...
