I got hurt at work several years ago and was bleeding out in a hurry. The guy that stopped the bleeding, and made this typing possible, came from the WV coal mines. This song always reminds me of that. I'm a country boy but I couldn't help myself, thank God there was another one there.
I am not from your country, Brilliant song, the message translates here too, but what is a trotline I had a look online, is it basically a method for catching a catfish? Sounds fun.
@@ChrisInToonA trot line is basically a long paracord type rope with hooks hanging off of it every foot or so on swivels. You basically tie the rope off to a good tree on both sides of a river or a creek, then bait the hooks, and tie a good weight off in the middle of the rope and sink it in the river. Then you wait several hours and hope the trash fish, snakes, or turtles aren't eating all your bait before the good eating fish find it and get hooked on the trot line. We used to use little perch or crawfish for bait. That's one way to bait and set a trot line. Probably many ways to use one ..Like putting a big jug on the end of it that won't sink and tie an anchor off to the jug if you don't have a tree to use..
I am 42 Salvadorean 🇸🇻, raised in the US 🇺🇲and I have so much love and respect for good Americans that love and defend this way of life. God bless you all!
Oh, they are not only fixin' to get ready...they are 100% in process! I ain't going down easy...I say "MOLAN LABE" & "Deus-vult"...I'm pro-human and I'm not gonna lay down!
I would hope you support the 2A. When the Black Panthers started walking around with their AK47s (as was their gd right) suddenly the idea of "gun control" was born. Google it. The last thing the government wanted to see was a group of people they had previously oppressed with no problems suddenly exercising their rights in a serious way.
Oh lemme tell ya. The way things are goin.....Country folks will be the ones to survive. We'll be the ones carrying the flag for the future. The spirit that built this country.
@@evangraveley7625 Man..thats the truth. I quit 20 yr ago..and wish I wouldnt have ever drank the 1st one. I havent had fun since I quit though. Bout anybody hears this song one time..theyll want to hear it again..that is..if they ever had any mud on their boots.
In bidens America and as a result many other parts of the world, things are starkly similar to how they were at the time of the release of this song. If ever there was a time in the future from when this was released, that would coincide with the state of America and the world, it’s probably right now in 2024
My family was Daniel Boones best friend. He was a Massey. He ran with Daniel Boone. I swear to God. I have my whole family history right here. My Massey home place is at Slaughters Creek. I can find his name. Right now. We're big time hunters too. It's literally in our blood.

As a long time American I wonder why the republicans don’t want y’all here and the dems do because in my experience y’all vote on the absolute rational ends of things. Keep up the good work.
@@tommyd4325 You got alot of growing to do. The democrats have allowed 20 million new illegal immigrants into the USA since 2020 from over 100 countries in the world. Do you want to pay for that. Not only that but they are bringing in drugs which our killing our people. Fentanyl killed one of my best friends thats made in china and brought into america through the cartels on the southern border. Biden reversed all the immigration policy trump had established. How old are you? Im 34 years old and have the democrats destroy my this country my family faught and died for. You got alot of balls commenting on a hank williams jr song about America, wanting to bring people in here that werent born here. Good for the guy above who became a legal citizen, but for the millions of illegals that have recently come here. They need to go back to where they came from. You need to do your research and really look at all the facts, not comment based upon how you feel.
@@tommyd4325 The majority of Republicans don't want to completely shut down the border and stop good people from coming to chase the American dream. What we do want to do is stop the open border and slow the influx of human trafficking, drugs and people that are only coming here to do harm to our citizens and the American way of life. This individual came here legally and is just as much American as the rest of us. Way to go dude. We could use more people like you
And may God bless all Latinos who love this country and live good lives. I was a blond/blue redneck surfer when I grew up in So Cal. But 1/2 my best friends were latinos there. I found out they were good people, hard working and good family people !! Arriba !!
This song is just what my Grandpa instilled in me. The belief that you can do whatever you set your mind on. He served in WW2 and fought in the jungles of the Phillipines. Was a Deacon in his church. Could do anything, from creating patents, playing bass in his country band (The Peacemakers) to building his own boats to commercial fish when he retired. He taught me how to survive in this world and he meant the world to me. God bless him, he was a great man.
I can honestly say that the man sings great stories about being from the south. I've seen him in concert in stadiums and at the river front of the Ohio and it's always a great show. Even though his music and his father's sound different I'm sure that he's proud of the hard work and sacrifices that jr. has made the legend that he is in country music.
Shoot, every time I hear this song, I feel a little more badass! I don't think you can get any more American that this song. Grew up listening to Hank and I'll die listening to Hank.
Canadian here commenting from the east coast in Nova Scotia, I’m 23 and university educated, but I grew up with my father & mother who came from blue collar small coal mining and industry towns; it’s hard to find friends who are educated and looking forward who also remember the messages of songs such as this. I listen to newer pop and rap etc., but I’ll always find true solace in guys like Hank Williams Sr & Jr., Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, and many others. There is no brand or label to put on music like this other than that it speaks truthfully about the North American underbelly. I will continue to be as gracious as I can be to anyone I meet, and try to provide for myself where and when I can. God bless everyone listening, and that’s coming from a non-religious person.
I'm 56, I still remember when Hank released this song. I was in the Army at that time, and my buddies then understood all the shit I had been telling them about my childhood from Texas 😂!
Country don't have a race or color. Country folks are honest, hard-working people who love this country, and don't care about what those who don't think.
I've never been to the US, but when I listen to this song, it makes we wanna go there and visit real America, the South and rural areas where people have stories to tell and songs to sing. Real people.
Can I ask, where you born in Africa? If not, why not just say American. It would be like me saying I'm, Danish, Irish, Scottish, English, Australian. Sounds stupid. Anyway, most successful African American is Elon musk.
Amen! Brother. I'm from a small town in Indiana living in Colorado Springs now. People thinks it's crazy i can fix cars, do electrical work, and plumbing. What's crazy to me is how many people can't do even the basics
@@kwebb4078bn yes sir. Some will never understand the upbringing that we have. Nor will they understand that to be country means we fend for ourselves, and not rely on other's to do things we can either do, or learn to do. I don't blame you for not responding to them
Why do you think that? RU-vid and MSM will have deleted this . ... BTW, I wish you were right but even yesterdays news was deleted from people who did not agree .. AKA COMPLY.
@@obamapox8185 It's been on that track for over 40 years and some people are just now realizing it. And, yes many will never see it... until it's too late to be repaired, which is coming very soon. We've been trying to tell people but they've been calling us names and silencing our voices to try to discredit us. Turns out we were right all along.
I work for a welding supply company..am am floored how these country boys can rip out an engine, weld on new doors, fix some tractor, grow their own weed... Hank Jr was so right
I remember this song from a young age, living in a house trailer on a farm in north Ga. as the son of a 70's USMC Vet.along with a 50's Army Uncle and a Grandpa born in 1910, learned a-lot from them and other family... We did the best we could and still do the best we can... Learned a-lot and still do; We Will Survive. Praise to the Mighty Name of Jesus!
I live in the west of Ireland now...but I weep for the USA..a place where I worked and travelled and played many years ago. This song pictures the USA that I remember and loved...God bless Y,all.
Country Folks are a Country of Folks where ones Color Creed & Nationality are Meaningless if one is a dedicated Folk of the Country its how the Country of Folks Will Survive
Don't bring your blue attitude!!! you left for a reason!! Don't repeat your mistakes in red states. has nothing to do with who is in office but how we live.
@@thomasgirty6397 I'm a republican through and through. Dems only win NY because of the NYC having more illegals than legal voters and get much more electorals. Go outside the city limits and they're mostly red and rednecks who know how to live.
These lyrics ring true. We are losing true country folk daily. Hard working self reliant people, who aren’t afraid of hard work, getting dirty, have manners, have common sense, love our country, our history, make sacrifices, have grit, Etc. We are losing true MEN. Our country is in trouble.
Amen! Tennessee gal here. My grandma and grandpa could do absolutely anything. Taught my mama how to survive, be a real lady and mama. My daddy had a 6th grade education and was one of the smartest men I’ve ever known and was self made. Mountain people can survive!!
Mama had a 7th grade and Daddy a 9th grade education.Mama could keep books penciled no calculator for $$$$$$ and Daddy read ag magazines with high reading comprehension.
I‘m a 80 year old SF resident but my heart is basically country. This week I cast a vote for a good ol‘ boy since I‘m proud to be an American. God bless the red white & blue. 🤣🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
Reminds me of my dad. He was a hunter and a fisherman. He lost his life due to cancer over 20 years ago. I miss him so much. He was my step dad, but I never seen it that way. Best dad in the world. Miss you, dad!! Hope to see you soon. Love you. ❤
As a Western Canadian this song has become my anthem especially after Trudeau tried to starve out the truckers and make them run. When a friend said he didn't know if he should go to Ottawa and be with the truckers I tried to repeat what William Wallace said in Braveheart. "We will all regret not going and on our deathbeds we will wish we could go back and be with them and stand against Tyranny. God Bless America
@Nathan D wrong you live off in the sticks you can work on your truck you hunt can farm and are respectful he also used to live in cullman al which s 15 miles from me
This song is so timely. The difference between folks in the country and folks in the city, generally, include values, faith, self reliance and community. While there are exceptions on each side, I’ll take my chances in the country any day.
Hank jr is way better than his father ever could've been as far as music goes. Love em both but gotta go with jr on this one. No hate for the godfather of country though so be nice
My 8 year old son loves this song the first time he heard it he was hooked. It just tells me I’m raising him right in this confused and twisted world. ✝️🇺🇸💪
I miss living like this. May this song ring STRONG to REAL Americans. If you are reading this, you are the last resistance to a change that will make you suffer.
Goosebumps!! I have never heard this song before today! wow, playin it on repeat! love the harmonica in the background, GREAT song, God bless you Hank Williams Jr! tfs Patara-big hugs.
Latina here, lived in the city my whole life. This song is something else!! This is what America is all about, let us live in peace!!! Cheers to you all!❤❤
American has a rebel heart and soul that craves freedom in every form. Long live our republic. Sister you can travel anywhere in this country, be respected, and loved for being a good person. Average every day Americans don't make everything a race issue, the politicians do. We need more hard patriots like you here. I pray for your safety and strength.
I moved to the country one year before this video was posted with no job. Money was tight but we did find a little house we could buy outright, just my wife and me and our dogs. It was a magical time. Eventually I quit trying to replace what I had and started playing fiddle again after 50 years.
@@kevintrevors3921 nice! Yes it's very country. The Canadians call us the cold water cowboys lol. We are very patriotic people even tho we are Canadian we will always call ourselves Newfoundlanders.

English country boy here from Saddle Bow, Norfolk. Love this piece. My Grandad often spoke of our American cousins in the deep south. Many of them were stationed here during WW2, he would bring them them pheasant shooting and trouting on the Norfolk Broads. There were many a sad heart here when some perished on the beaches of Northern France. Thanks to the many thousands of Americans who laid down their lives to free my country.
Thank you it is great to see good ole boys from all over the world and also my grandpa was one of those men on the beach, so from him to me to you thank you for that!! God bless you and one day you might live out your dream in America!
Peace or war to the evil ones in power. They will not stop till we are all on our knees and I rather die on my feet. But yes not sure who u are but it's a badass song and I'm pissed as we should all be. CPK
I was born and raised in Arizona as a country/city boy. I've pretty much lived all of this great tune except I never lost a friend to a switchblade knife. But I tell ya, if I had he would not be breathing anymore.
God Bless us all. Country People. I live in a city called Duluth, MN. It's not Duluth anymore, it's Detroit, Chicago, Milwaukee, Minneapolis... But I am a country girl, I walk down the street with my held high. They don't know what I have in my pocket. 2 inches over and 3 inches down ain't never going to. Country girl! downtown.. Almost 60!

This is the heart of America. Those who make it work Those who came before Who gave us this chance Those who assure our future Just because my grandfather's blood has been washed away by sand and time Doesn't mean I have forgotten what he fought for. How about you... Have you forgotten?
I'm a city guy from Argentina, and you can't imagine how much this song brings a tear into my eye. It gives me strength to tolerate all this madness in todays society. Everything is in the shitter right now, but I stand firm on my roots and beliefs. This song is an anthem.
