People that defend new country need to understand just one thing. When Hank wrote this song, people making the then new country music, were actually country. In this decade many country singers' background aren't country and many singers are more of the pop star variety. I've completely lost faith in new country.

Love this song!!! It came out in my heyday, when I was just a young buck, and a rebel. Now that I'm an old stag, and still a rebel, I still love it. But now that I am old enough to look back on this song, I can appreciate min. 1:32 where Hank tips his hat to the old stuff, and Minnie Pearl, pushes him out of the way to declare that "we like some of the new".

Love me some good old country music! The Hanks are great singers. Sure wish "new country music" sound as good as Young Country. This song is not complimenting any of the so-called new country singers, in 2018. They are not as talented and they don't know what real country music sounds like. A few exceptions like Erick Paslay's, She Don't Love You and Luke Bryan's ROLLERCOASTER, will get me to listen to so called "new country." Love Jason Isbell but he is in a masterclass by himself, anyway. Almost did not even give Zac Brown Band a chance, until I heard COLDER WEATHER. Good song! At least on RU-vid, we can hear a song, before we run out and buy a new CD. People like Rodney Crowell have been around for a while, but they can still surprise us, with great new songs, like IT AINT OVER YET. That's a new song and it's really good! The music industry idiots, don't play that song on my radio, but I have the CD and I hear great country music songs, every time I scroll through RU-vid! "What happened to good old country music?"
