I scored an incredibly rare signed book. Amazon link for the book: The Art of Hanna-Barbera: Fifty Years of Creativity a.co/d/iUR6swB Disclaimer: your book may not be like mine. The gamble is completely up to you.
Alex Toth IS the art of Hanna-Barbera. Great documentary on him included with the Space Ghost DVD. He designed most of their popular super hero characters.
I have banana splits, hair bear bunch, scooby doo, hong kong phooey and penelope pitstop. i love atom ant, drac pack, secret squirrel, captain caveman, the smurfs, dastardly and mutley, walley gator and many others that I'd like to own. I got a blu ray of hanna barbara anniversary recently. Thankyou for sharing your collection 😊
I picked up that HB book several years back and thoroughly enjoyed every page of it. I agree with you when you're looking thru the "Super-Heroes" chapter and say this was when cartoons were the best...I've always felt that way and watching those classic HB super-hero cartoons catapulted me into collecting comics from the late 60's right up to today. Great DVD collection too BTW. I have several of the HB 60s super-hero DVDs myself and still enjoy watching them when I get the chance. Fun stuff and fun video, sir!
@@ToddEWalnuts Thanks Todd! I usually do livestreams now moreso than just canned videos then uploading them. I do a livestream every Sat. AM with Shannon called "Comic Book Memories at 10AM so if you get the chance check it out and thanks for the sub!
Hi Todd, Just watched your latest post. Wow, the book, what a wonderful find. So very pleased for you, because l know how much you appreciate the book. It could not have gone to a more deserving collector. By the way, what an awesome piece it is, incredible. It brought back loads of wonderful memories for us. Loved the post mate 👍
Wow I didn't know Hannah Barbera had so many cartoons! I have seen some but others I don't remember. I loved Thundarr when I was a kid. I always thought Birdman was a copy of Hawkman but I didn't care. I've heard about the Dragon's Lair cartoon but have never seen it and I want to really bad. Korg? I saw a live action series as a kid about cavemen dubbed in Spanish and showed daily situations in the stone age. At the end the narrator said something like "besides some bones and tools primitive didn't leave anything behind". Is this that series? That book is awesome! I'm planning on getting 2 about MOTU but I never do it. Great cartoon collection and cool video Todd!👉😃👈
I don’t remember Korg being in Spanish, but they may have had a Spanish show that you described. Korg was a Saturday morning kids type of a show about Neanderthals of the ice age. It was pretty good but I doubt many people will remember it these days.
@@hectormontalvo5565 it could be that you’re right. I don’t remember that particular dialogue but it has been awhile since I’ve watched it. I do remember Burgess Meredith narrating the show which gave it an even more adventurous feel to it.
32:00 Hey, Todd; you have an amazing Hanna-Barbera DVD and Blu-ray collection (a number of sets of which I have in my collection too) and the icing on the cake is that 'The Art of Hanna-Barbera' book by Ted Sennett signed will Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera for Gordon Hunt. Over the past 30 or more years, I have collected at least 40 books about animation (particularly since I have worked in the animation industry in Canada); mostly Disney animation art books, instructional books released in the 70's and 80's, and one book about Hanna-Barbera animation art (the one with the simulated animation cel on the front cover), but NOT this 'The Art of Hanna-Barbera' book as far as I remember, so as luck would have it, I just ordered one in very good condition from an Amazon seller and he included a photo of the Bill Hanna and Joe Barbera signatures, but this book I ordered was supposedly signed to a "Brad Cornelius", so I'll find out soon enough if the book is authentic with those autographs. In any case, I'll be glad to have it in my collection, with or without the signatures. A great video as always, Todd. All the best! :)
@@ToddEWalnuts Thanks, Todd. I've worked in various capacities in the animation industry on some minor features, but mostly TV animated series as a prop designer (designing any objects used by the characters from handkerchiefs to blow their nose to Vietnam War-era Huey helicopters for them to fly). Many years ago, I was a character designer (rotation designs of existing characters mostly for animator reference) and an assistant animator on 'All Dogs Go To Heaven 2' and in fact, I received two screen credits for that movie when I once worked for Phoenix Animation, a long-gone animation studio located in Toronto. Aside from designing props for many Nelvana Ltd. animated TV series like 'Sam & Max', 'George Shrinks', 'Bob & Margaret', 'Tales from the Cryptkeeper: Season 2', etc. More recently, I did scene setup work for 'Mysticons' and 'Corn & Peg' where I added the digitally painted backgrounds to scenes and then the correctly scaled digital 2D characters and props for scenes sent to the animators to work their magic. So, if you see "Jon Hammond" in the credits of 'All Dogs Go To Heaven 2' or 'Mysticons', etc, that's yours truly. I'm also listed on IMDB which cracks me up. :)
@@TorontoJon I remember you telling me some of your past work history, but not as much in depth as this comment. That’s really cool, and don’t sell yourself short man. You do deserve to have an IMDb page!
Good eye. I don’t have the Flintstones or the Jetsons, at least not yet. I was not really the biggest fan but I’m sure at some point I’ll grab them. There’s a few more I need too. Thanks for watching.
Hey Todd!!!!!!!!!!! I highly recommend that you purchase Jonny Quest vs. The Cyber Insects along with Jonny's Golden Quest and the other DVD releases of The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest too!!!!!!!!!
Hey Todd!!!!!!!!! I have plans to purchase some DVD titles that are part of The Hanna-Barbera Diamond Collection such as Wacky Races The Complete Series along with Dastardly & Muttley In Their Flying Machines The Complete Series and also The Perils of Penelope Pitstop The Complete Series too. Paul Winchell was definitely popular as a veteran animated cartoon voice actor in my opinion!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fun Fact both Dick Dastardly and Gargamel the villain from the Smurfs were both voiced by the legendary voice actor Paul Winchell. Isn't that incredible?
So you didn't like The Smurfs? Do you remember or heard the story of how The Smurfs got so famous? I remember the story was that Peyo sold his soul to the devil in order for The Smurfs to be successful!🤔
I think because at the time the Smurfs came out I was watching MOTU, GI Joe, Transformers, and shows like that. I just couldn’t get into Smurfs. I did try though.
@@ToddEWalnuts I misspoke. Yes it's not Lenticular, that's the wrong word. It's see-through in that when you open there's a different picture. I'm not sure what that's called. Opaque?
