Great video. First time seeing a video about Hanna Barbera collections. Thought I was all alone. I got a video of my collection attached to my RU-vid account (if you're interested). Started collecting Hanna Barbera DVD in 2004 - when it all started. My love for Hanna Barbera started in 1968. I live in Canada. In the late sixties - there was no cable, only two Candian channels (CBC & CTV). The above chennals seldom aired cartoons. Things changed for me when my family move to a city close the USA border. WOW! Three US channels (ABC, NBC, and CBS). I was in five year old heaven with all Saturday morning cartoons. I was hooked. Regards
Thank you Brent. There are more than a few HB fans out there, but it’s always nice to talk to a like minded fan. I just checked out your video. Nice collection you have too! I also saw a Beatles record. Seems we have that in common too 😃 Thank you for the comment.
Great collection you have many more then I do thanks for Sharing. Wish they would release The Fantastic Four from 1967 it is in the Vaults of Universal I hear.
Korg 70,000 BC, scared the * out of me as a nine year old, but I loved Valley of the Dinosaurs. I 'd hardly say they had the same vibe. Korg was creepily realistic. The were on Aussie tv around 1975.
Hello friend ..I too am a big fan of HB.. have some of these dvds ..But in my country Brazil not all were released.. some we watch on youtube..good old memories good shows
#HB I love it! I'm a big fan of 80's cartoons but 70's shows , especially HB is my childhood. I was up every Saturday morning to watch these classic shows!
Awesome Hanna Berbera And Scooby- Doo Collection, All Those Cartoons Bring Back A Lot Of Memories Has A kid When I Watch Them On Saturday mornings, Awesome Awesome Video My Friend 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for showing off your collection. I like how you have almost all of the dvds out there. Gonna be helpful for me since I’m collecting these myself
Thanks for showing the Hanna Barbera collection, many favourites here like "The Funky Phantom" "The Hair Bear Bunch" "Hong Kong Phooey" & the original Scooby Doo were the ones i never missed, great memories.
I really enjoyed this video Todd. Hanna-Barbera rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You and I will always be Hanna-Barbera fans forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fantastic collection and vid again Todd some of my favorite cartoons as a kid still have some on VHS of my favorites really awesome Scooby Doo collection they are my favorite cartoons as a kid
Very good collection In my opinion Hanna barbera cartoons can be very hit or miss especially since a lot of them recycle ideas without having any interesting concepts to stand out (but there are some that pull it off though) and sometimes the humor can be pretty cheap I will say this though they do have plenty of classics such as the flinstones the jetsons yogi bear huckleberry hound top cat the 60s fantastic four and wait til your father gets home (a show that wb wants to forget existed) they were even responsible for producing some of Cartoon Networks original programming such as dexters lab Johnny bravo cow and chicken I am weasel and the powerpuff girls
Yes I agree they can be hit and miss. More hits than misses by far though. I don’t really care for the Jetsons or Flintstones. I doubt I’ll ever add those to the collection unless they are gifted to me.
Hey Todd E. Walnuts. Again I really appreciate the shout out. I actually want to say that there's another Hanna-Barbera DVD that I highly recommend you pick up and that title is Challenge of the Gobots The Original Miniseries along with Challenge of the Gobots Volumes One and Volume Two as well. Also I highly recommend that you add Mister T The Complete First Season to your Hanna-Barbera DVD collection. It includes 13 episodes on 2 disks. You won't be disappointed.
This is an awesome collection! I just started collecting HB releases. I am a big Cartoon Network fan but I love me some old classic cartoons. It will take me a while but soon enough I hope to get most if not all of these releases.
Hey, thanks for checking this out. It’s a really fun subject to collect. Luckily they have started re-releasing some of these on Blu Ray. Good luck in your search to collect these. It’s a fun hobby.
Hanna Barbera is amazing and never gets old. For me it is kinda hard to buy them because they are so expensive, at least some of them. Do you also want to add the Jackson Five Hanna Barbera cartoon to the collection? I think i want to buy that one :)
Excellent video Todd my friend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way thanks for the shoutout. Really appreciate it. I highly recommend that you add Mister T The Complete First Season to your DVD collection. It's 13 episodes on a 2-disc set!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You certainly have inspired me to start my own Hanna-Barbera DVD collection!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
#hannabarbera That's a fantastic collection mate, I really struggling to get hold of hanna barbera releases in the UK as not everything is available. Thurdarr the barbarian is also my favourite too.
I used to love #hannabarbera growing up, especially Scoob which you have a great collection of. Much prefer that over Disney tbh. The only Disney I liked growing up was the magical world of Disney TV movies because my parents would let me stay up late to watch them. Modern Disney sucks imho.
Amazing video. Incredible number of one shot shows that Hanna Barbera produced in the 70's and 80's picking up on whatever trend was popular. Notice that you don't have that many sixties HB series such as Flintstones, Jetsons, Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, Top Cat ("his close personal friends get to call him T.C.") and others. Not your cup of java? Also, do you have any interest in the Adult Swim versions of Space Ghost (Coast to Coast), Harvey Birdman (Attorney at Law) and Spacelab 2020?
Cool collection man and some classics too that I used to love as a kid growing up. They made a horror movie based on The Banana Splits in 2019, have you seen it?
Hey Todd. I'm considering picking up some of these Hanna-Barbera DVD releases but at the same time there are some Disney DVD releases that I need to pick up too. I'm kind of torn between the 2 Disney/Hanna-Barbera.
It came out as a television series in 1969. Before that it was shown as short clips before and during intermissions only at movie theaters. If you google info, make sure you get the full story.
Hi Todd I heard on one of the utube channels that Warner Archive Shop is closing. Do you know if this is true and will they still be putting the old Hanna Barbara cartoons out on dvd or do you think i should buy them before they close.
I haven’t heard that, but there really isn’t a need to hurry. You can still buy the classics on eBay or Amazon. The have just started releasing movies on Blu Ray, not sure why they’d close shop.
I met this individual a few years ago those father worked for HB during the 70s I believe. He has now passed away I will ask someone what his name was.
Hi Todd. I was wondering if you had any suggestions on which Hanna-Barbera DVD releases that I should add to my animated DVD collection. I'm considering picking up Moby Dick And The Mighty Mightor along with The Herculoids. But at the same time there are 2 Disney shows that were part of The Disney Afternoon block that I also want to pick up Darkwing Duck and Goof Troop. Which DVD releases should I add to my DVD collection next? Disney or Hanna-Barbera?
Hi D-Man, good to hear from you friend. I hope you are having a wonderful Memorial Weekend. Those two HB titles you mentioned are very worthy of a purchase (Mighty Mightor, The Herculoids). If you don’t already have Thundarr the Barbarian, you can get that on Blu Ray now. It’s excellent. I love those Disney shows you mentioned also. It’s a tough call to make because they are all a lot of fun. Another suggestion is Disney’s The Black Cauldron which is now available on Blu Ray for the first time.
It seems like you do not have Wacky Races, Flintstones, Jetsons, Pebbles & Bamm- Bamm, Ruff & Reddy, Yogi Bear, Galaxy Goof-Ups, Huckleberry Hound, The Smurfs, Quickdraw McGraw, Top Cat, Captain Caveman, The New Shmoo, Laff-a-Lympics, Daterdly and Mutley, Harlem Globetrotters, Touche' Turtle & Dum-Dum, The Great Grape ape, or any of the DC Comics universe Hannah Barbera licensed properties like Super Friends and Galatic Guardians. #hannah-barbera
A quick google search may provide an answer because I’m not 100% sure, but so far Birdman and the Galaxy Trio is the only Blu one I’m aware of. Thunder the Barbarian is soon to be released. I don’t really consider Scooby Doo as a pure HB cartoon because it’s a separate entity, but there are a few Scooby Doo Blu Rays. EDIT: it looks like the Jetsons have a 3 disc Blu Ray release.
I really wish they did Scooby Doo crossover movies with The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Jonny Quest, and Yogi Bear. But I don't think we'll ever get to see one. Or another Scooby Doo show and movie ever again. No thanks to HBO MAX and that atrocious Velma series. No, I never watched that show, and I never plan to either. I have THREE FULL REASONS of why I won't watch it. #1: WHERE THE ABSOLUTE HECK IS SCOOBY?? Scooby doesn't even exist in that world. Scooby has basically been the star of the franchise since 1969! I'm sorry, I understand it's a spin-off, but no Scooby, it ain't getting my views. #2: It misses the point of Scooby Doo. Basically, the friendship point. HBO made the gang HATE each other. Last time I checked, they were all friends. And #3. I'm worried that we have actually seen the end of Scooby Doo forever. There goes my dream Scooby Doo crossover movies. So, after all I've said, yeah. Thanks a lot, HBO!! Also, we don't need a second season of that Velma spin-off. Whoever thought that was a good idea needs to take some notes from ACTUAL Scooby Doo shows and movies. I'm done. I can't stand talking about that Velma show. It's the only Scooby Doo show that I don't like. Scratch that!! It's the only show that has Scooby Doo characters in it that I don't like even if I haven't seen it in its entirety. But I don't care!! If HBO is gonna make a spin-off of a Hanna-Barbera cartoon, they could at least make an actual GOOD one!! Yeesh. Anywho. I'm done ranting. Just wanted to spill out my true feelings towards that spin-off, THAT SHALL NOT BE NAMED. Is it even fair to call that a spin-off?? I don't think so. But like I said, I'm done ranting. Just needed to spill out my true feelings and honest opinion.
