What's interesting in this debate is that the opposition isn't even bothering to address the question or understand the issues. They are simply mocking the proponents. Still a long way to go in educating even the "brightest minds" it seems.

on 30th November 2023 - this house voted in favour of proposition "This house would go vegan". Proud to have witnessed this event live and have captured the results on camera. Doesn't matter what anyone (Katie, and her supporting opposition members, fan following) says now. So looking forward to a Vegan future. Eat plants! and plant Trees. Let all animals be.

False equivalency. Your basic premise is flawed if you think that eating meat is animal abuse. As mentioned in a previous video, our bodies have adapted to fish, milk, eggs, red meat. You cannot, overnight, systematically force entire swathes of people to upend thousands of years of deeply ingrained eating and nutritional habits. It is just objectively impossible. You are vegan. I am not. I respect your lifestyle choice, you obviously don't respect mine. That's ok. What's not okay is using obfuscation and conjecture to gaslight people into feeling guilty. Won't fly my friend.

These were just ad hominem attacks disguised as a low-quality "comedy" routine. In the end, she quickly made a bunch of false claims about veganism and left.

Agree, stereotype lark, the only thing I can take form her is that being open to change in society doesn't always, more often than not, come easy, and with climate related stresses pushing, the all or nothing head filled mind can easily draw us back into resistance and with an instinct to evade, deny and so grasp more tightly onto a collective sense of 'norm' and self proclaimed creature comforts. But I like what more was said at this debate. It's not so much about the, 'to be or not to be' vegan, it's more about trying, the pursuit of 'going' vegan, it's not perfect, but like much in life we can but try. Just try foods out, give it a go, the choice and quality can surely on get better with growth and well being on all accounts at the true heart of it. Hey, like you good old mentor would say, 'hey, just give it a go, don't like it, try something else'!

She refused to debunk any reasons in favor of going vegan. Veganism is not about people, it is about the animals. By not mentioning the animals, it sounds like she was making a strawman argument, but if everyone was vegan, then all the social problems she mentioned would be resolved over night. She also makes false claims about water and land use without providing any evidence. I did like her jokes, especially the one about Joey's RU-vid views 🤣

@@xsuploader I'm confused lol. Is Disha also considered a non debater because she introduced the opposition? I thought Hannah was apart of the debate because she was introduced as being on the side of the opposition.

The only thing by which we can talk about animals, is that of not torturing them. Otherwise, we cannot assign them other rights like humans, because it does not make sense.

@@nerdslikeus6690 Disha was president for this last event and in favour of proposition being Vegan herself, and Hannah who is going to be the next president (was in favour of opposition). Now, that the results are out and proposition has won, what Hannah said at duration 7:49 onwards, is what she has to deliver in the next term.

1) Couldn't speak without reading off a bunch of papers? 2) Bit of an odd defence to call your arguments "light-hearted" as if that means we shouldn't take them so seriously - what's she doing taking part then? Bit of a waste, surely? 3) "people hate vegans so you shouldn't go vegan~" - wow, I guess when abolitionism was unpopular we know what she'd have been saying 4) "going crop only would cause land issues~" - what does she thinks has to grow to feed all the animals that we breed to then eat...? Just dreadful

Next have a debate about whether or not slavery is ethical. That's how backwards you sound when you argue against Animal Liberation. You are literally arguing FOR violence and animal abuse not to mention the ecocide.

There I was thinking that in a debate, what’s on the table is a proposition to be debated, motions or arguments addressing the proposition expertly argued with sound evidence. Listening to the opposition I’d probably be mistaken to think that ad hominem and character attacks were on the table.

They had katie hopkins speaking, a right wing bigot that had nothing of substance to say, I felt embarrassed for her. She simply lied with almost every word she spoke. How was that a debate, sorry but the non vegan arguments were embarrassingly ignorant and relied on rhetoric, facts are clearly not important, and this reflects on the OU@@ryanv3015

Shoutout to all the decent people who stand up to the radical self-centred narcissistic control freaks who spend their life forcing everyone to conform to their ways and trying to set the rules. BEING VEGAN IS A CHOICE AND I REFUSE TO TAKE THAT CHOICE LIVE WITH IT!!. And another shoutout to recognise all the decent people who are vegan and don't spend their time bullying and controlling meat eaters just simply because there is a difference of opinion. Thank you to those good people for letting us meat and fish eaters get on with our lives even if you don't agree with our choices.

3:23 For transparency, maybe youtube should warn for videos with activism messages, about human robots, who give likes on command, so as not to create the illusion that someone supports them in large numbers, in relation to the likes that are given to dislike videos. And I'm glad they got rid of the bots. But everything is very strange.

Good points mentioned here. Brilliant you mentioning Little Joeys views on RU-vid 🤣 It’s true that people do mock vegans and can’t stand them and they are despised. Their comments on all the talks here on You Tube just proves the point. True that the environmental argument was too simplistic. Food security, land use, fertiliser use and most important of all is soil health. None of those mentioned. Shame you didn’t mention about the health benefits of whole food, local, seasonal and sustainable food. Would like to know what the voting was.

While it might make sense intuitively - after all, transport does lead to emissions - it is one of the most misguided pieces of advice.
