Same! I loved Nanette, but I think I love Douglas even more. Douglas is a different style than Nanette, more like classic standup, so even if you weren't a big fan of Nanette, you will probably like Douglas anyway. It just shows that she is not a one-trick pony and is able to craft a show with a very different feel.

As soon as this clip is done I'm going to look for it. Just discovered her yesterday and already she's one of my favorite comedians. I watched both Nanette and Douglas this morning when I got home from work. And have been preparing supper while listening to numerous videos of her stand up and interviews here on YT.

Like a feeling when you lived in your childhood in a little town in the middle of nowhere and there was a little neighbour girl that noone cared about, and only you had a childhood crush on her. And you were sad like "But wait! Why does noone around notices how lovely she is?! Is it me who's weird in finding her lovely?! Should I be quiet about loving her?..." And now suddenly she becomes like an international superstar for exactly the character traits you had a crush on her years ago.

my dude Yes, you are exactly what I'm talking about. Mainstream US comedy has to be basic so average fkheads like yourself can understand it. It's interesting to watch US people in Australia, not understanding our subtle mockery. It goes over your heads. But yes, blame it on her being a fat, lesbian (and 'women aren't funny' etc), to make yourself feel better/smarter. FYI there are a lot of Aussie dudes who don't like Hannah also - they liked her better when she just did basic jokes about being an ugly lesbian. Basicness is not limited to the US.

If this lady is funny it really isn’t coming through in this medium. Maybe it’s the bad acoustics in her apartment or a subtle British humor thing but I feel like I’m eavesdropping accidentally on a private conversation at a posh cafe where the tables are too close together - another pre-Corona phenomenon not likely to recur... The only thing I really enjoyed here was the Amazon knockoff brand briefcase in the background and Jimmy’s closing virtual hug. 🤗
