She ruined her own life. It’s hard to feel sorry for her when she put herself in that situation and escalated it to such an extreme point

Essentially her defense was, "I chased a man, approached him aggressively with a gun, and for some strange reason he didn't like that, so he shot himself while I was trying to help him turn himself in to the police, case close....can I go home now?"

I am deeply heartbroken for the gentleman and his family. There are no words to describe how disgusting her actions were. Sincere Condolences to the family.

Imagine being that young and spending a vast portion of your life in prison, because you didn't let LE do their job. Way to throw your life away

Just because you carry a gun doesn’t mean you have the right to kill anyone. Now, she’ll grow old in prison.

All the years she was out on bond, she should have been taking self defense classes prepping for her prison term instead of eating twinkies all day long.

No apology no sign of remorse. No parole should’ve been offered.

A life gone, family destroyed because a stranger took it into her hands to take a life of an unarmed man who she chased to his death. She also hurt her own family, but they still get to see her and live with her again, unlike Mr.Herring or his family. Heartbreaking All around.

Best news ever! There is something to be said for *staying in your lane and minding your own business.* She did this to herself and created life-long grief for the family of Mr. Herring. It would be very offensive for her attorney to file an appeal or ask for another trial. This should be done right here. Let her serve her 43 years (and hopefully more) and allow Mr. Herring's family to move on.

I LOVE seeing them go from their regular clothes during the trial, to state green/yellow/pink/orange, during sentencing. 😂👍🏾

I'm glad to finally hear the word consecutively in a sentencing hearing. It angers me so much when a hardcore criminal gets concurrent sentences which means some of the crimes didn't even count or had a consequence.

She chased him down, crashed into him, pulls out a gun while he's in the car in his seatbelt, fired the gun into him. How was her life in danger?

The reason she didn't take the deal is because she didn't think she did anything wrong but you see you did

If she didn't have a gun, she would not be going to jail. It's that simple. She brought this all on herself. Why she felt it was HER place to step in and act as the police is a mystery to me. It's sad that she got so caught up in this situation that she took a man's life. And ruined hers. So many lives ruined.

The parole board might bring up that she never apologized to the family or showed any remorse in court during the trial. The little things do count, even though she guilty as hell.

25 years old, decided she had the privilege to be judge, jury, and executioner. I am sure she expected to get a thank you. Now she is going to spend the next 43 years in prison. No chance to have a career, raise a family, or enjoy any of life's great pleasures. All because you had to be a self centered Karen. I hope it was worth it.

Being licensed and posessing a gun carries huge responsibility. She was told to let authorities handle it. Idk why that so hard to do. Now she has to pay for being irresponsible and not following instructions.

Only took a few years, but justice was served AMEN. SAVE THEM CROCODILE TEARS. She really thought she could kill an innocent man and get away with it. Entitlement was strong with this one. I'm glad to know that as a black man, I am a bit safer with someone like her being off the street. Disgusting, I say.

She was speaking very foul and disrespectful, not once asking if he were okay, even though she was trying to be a hero, end up zero for truck driver he didn't even take the stand. I only wish Mr. Herring had a weapon and fired back as far as pulling her in the car; she is entirely too big to even budge. She have her family and friends fooled with those lies I respected her neighbor for getting up there and saying it was wrong what she did . Had this young lady waited and followed the instructions of the dispatcher, she would be free today. But her anger got the best of her costing her her freedom. Hannah Payne got life in prison. 30 years is a life term in Georgia. Those who committed serious violent felonies on or after July 1, 2006, must serve 30 years before being eligible for parole. Life in prison is mandatory for murder in Georgia. She got 30 years plus 13 years. That is 43 years. She will be eligible for parole when she is 68 if she does the 30 + 8+ 5.

This woman displayed no remorse for the life she had taken nor emotional damage she's caused. Her few tears that escaped were because of the predicament she now finds herself in. The judge gave her Life with parole meaning she will have the ability to return home again. An opportunity her victim will never have. Natural Life should have been given but the state showed something she refused to show her victim. Compassion when it came to her life.

They didn’t explain what life with the possibility is parole means, time wise. She has to serve 30 years before she’s eligible for parole. However, since she has 8 additional years consecutive to the life sentence, she has to serve 38 years before she’s eligible for parole, which puts her at 63 years old by then.

When keeping it real goes horribly wrong. I think she was being overzealous and entitled. I think this judgment was very fair. Congrats to the jury, the judge and the prosecutors. Oh and witnesses too.

us ex cons have a saying for this "the judge is running it wild" whenever you hear consecutive it aint good i.e. the time you get is stacked meaning you do a sentence then immediately after you start your any other sentences its very brutal

I don't know if she was scared or racist, but that man did not have a weapon. She learned a lesson.

It's really sad because she was a young girl carrying a gun that probably shouldn't have been carrying a gun because somehow she mistook that as giving her all power. She stepped in where she had no business stepping in and she pulled a gun when she had no business pulling it. She was told four times to back off and leave it alone and refused to do so. It's just a sad situation that should have never happened but the bad part is it did.

She just thought “there’s no way anyone would have problem with this since her victim was black”. In Georgia. Still, people had to force this murder to go to trial.

I'm not sure why she thought being disrespectful and cutting off the prosecutor with "from my perspective" was gonna win her votes from the jury is beyond me. I just came off jury duty 12/14/23, and I would have found her guilty, also. In my case, there was lack of credible and common sense evidence to reach a guilty verdict; nothing where a, b, plus c = the crime of 3rd degree rape was proved BARD. Here, the videos, witnesses, police interviews and 911 calls provided enough reasonable evidence to arrive at a guilty verdict. The verdict should have nothing to do with race, passion, or liking the defendant; it's based primarily on the evidence.
