I'm so grateful that there are men like him involved in the GA legal system. I hear so many racist things out of so many people since I moved down here and this makes me feel like there is still hope for continuing improvement in the justice system. People like these murderers should never feel like they can do things like this without consequences because of race or their prior or current affiliation with law enforcement. Every person should be held to the same moral and legal standards no matter what.

This is the first time I am watching this part. It's like therapy in the cathartic result of this terrible crime.

I think justice was served, but swung a bit too far. The felony-murder rule makes a joke of the principle that punishment should be based on the crime committed. The life sentence of Bryan should be an obvious example to anyone not swept away by the rage of the moment. The trail also failed at due process as well, as I see it, because the charge of "malice murder" was not proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

if you haven't yet come across it, I highly recommend looking at least at the sentencing in the Chandler Halderson trial - that judge is equal in integrity, fairness, and sensitivity to this one. The opening statement by the prosecution is also absolutely masterful, if you're into that kind of thing :)

Arbery went for the gun, grabbed the gun, then Travis pulled the trigger. It was a fight on the gun by Arbery and Travis. Arbery was followed because of his repeated suspicious behavior in the neighborhood mainly at night, and would not constructively communicate.

This is most definitely an honorable judge

He is the epitome of professionalism and wisdom on the bench. He remained unbiased throughout the trial and let the jury reach their verdict bassed on all the evidence available then in sentencing he held each man to the letter of the law for each vedict they were found guilty of. What he didn't do was cripple the prosecution, he didn't suppress evidence, he didn't work for the defense. He was there to represent the law and I think he did a stellar job.

He was not hunted. He was not jogging. He was running away from house he broke into. I saw all evidence. Now all of sudden, evidence disappeared. Brilliant judge. Took everything into consideration and stayed professional throughout the entire trial. He would not let himself be silenced or pressured by white supremacy and their allies. He stood up for whats right and he refused to let the wrong element dictate the course of this trial. I wish there were more like him. To be honest I was skeptical at the start but he's made me a believer. Maybe this case could be the start we needed.

With all the additional evidence coming out in the Federal trial I hope that judge is able to do the same but won’t blame him if he absolutely loses it on them.

Judge is enjoying his time in the spotlight a little too much with his overly dramatic speech. He completely ignores the FACT that Arbery was clearly attempting the wrestle the shotgun out of McMichael's hands BEFORE he was shot. It shows a clear bias IMO. Virtue signaling from someone who should be completely neutral. I'm not saying the McMichaels didn't make some bad choices. I'm saying that this asshole shouldn't be sitting in a judges seat. Well, it confirms our could-be beautiful Justice System sometimes works as it should. In this case it worked. It didn’t matter that the victim was black, it didn’t matter that the defendants were white, it served Justice on equal terms. But…. What if they were rich? Would they have been found guilty and if they were would they have been given the proper sentence? Probably not. Except nobody is talking about the crimes and criminal activity of Ahmaud that day, the audacity to imply he was just out on a jog and minding his own business when he started punching Travis in the face and grabbing the gun that would end up ending his life. Just because those men are white and he was black does not negate his crimes that day or the fact that he was on parole for stealing prior to that. He has a lengthy record for a 25 yr old but somehow he is the 100% victim and that is ridiculous and false!!!

All of us are accountable except Ahmaud Arbery! Crime and a life of crime has always been detrimental to your health and Floyd, Brooks and Arbery are obviously not exceptions to those rules! How about we stop pretending these were good men, they were criminals and in the act of crime when they were killed. Constantly caseing potential crime targets and assault, allegedly using counterfeit money and resisting arrest and being drunk passed out at a Wendy's and then assaulting the 2 arresting officers and firing a taser at them are all crimes and they were all repeat offenders, not contributors to society. There were definately bad costly decisions made by the arresting individuals especially in the Floyd case even though Floyd was the biggest criminal of the three!
