My grandmother told me about this show when it was still on the air. She always liked Colmes, but I never watched the show as I wasn't into politics at the time. Ironically, both she AND Mr. Colmes died in 2017. And I didn't even KNOW Colmes had passed until TheYoungTurks referred to him as "the late Alan Colmes." I immediately looked up Hannity & Colmes and saw a clip of their last episode. It was heartwarming. Only seeing a few short clips of him over the last half hour or so, I immediately got the sense that Alan was a good hearted man. And to hear Hannity speak so highly of him was a great breath of fresh air.
I couldnt believe it when I heard the news, he'll be greatly missed. Shows you just never know how many days you have left on this Earth to leave your mark. I'm conservative but enjoyed him giving his liberal side of things. A Ying to Hannity's Yang.
He did a book on Liberal comedy.....you should check it out if you get a chance seen that book at a library in St Louis he was a funny guy just heard about him passing......duh i know it's late but been so busy doing my stuff and was not looking a much TV........this is so sad what a a class act. Colmes was a classic. One of a kind. Loved their show. Sean and Hannity is what Really "Got me going" in "Hearing" political messages- back when I could care LESS about politics.
He was a classic “old school” Liberal like my Mom was. She adored Colmes and both were good people. I lean conservative but value people like him because they were honest, funny and could disagree without being disagreeable. He is missed.
Wow, Shawn was really shaken. They were a dynamic duo indeed. Really miss that show. Great words from Shawn, they meant a lot to Allan's wife and family. R.I.P. Allen Combs

Was not aware that Mr. Colmes had passed. At the time the only rational talking head at Fox. Listening to Hannity talk about his friend makes him seem almost human. Reading some of these posts just clarifies my original impression of the Fox/Hannity cesspool.
I think there were far more kind sentiments expressed than not. Out of the 21,000 views and the .3% actually commenting, and only a handful of jerks making disgusting remarks, hardly a cesspool makes. I reject your broad brush disparaging comment about Fox viewers based on science. (And I also would put an asterisk by the "cesspool" comments, because I think there is a strong likelihood they are posted by someone on the left.)
I am neither a Conservative nor a Liberal, and have never agreed with Sean Hannity on anything -- until now. Alan Colmes was a class act. My heart goes out to Alan's wife, and also to you, Sean, for the loss of your friend.
They don't make this kinda show anymore. You don't get the other side of the argument. Not on Fox, not MSNBC....or anywhere, really. Because no one wants to think. They want to be told and reassured that what already believe is correct. They don't want to be challenged, they want to think critically, they just want a yes-man.
Colmes was the only thing that made Hannity tolerable. Once Colmes left the show, the entire world got to see exactly how much of a shmuck Hannity is. He couldn’t ever take over the network, despite O’Reilly, Beck, AND Carlson getting fired. 😂🤦♂️

didn't he have his own show on NPR? his voice sounds familiar. anytime callers said something positive about Bernie at the time Hillary was running, he'd act rudely by interrupting them, lowering the caller's volume on their end so you could hear his voice over theirs...and if people gave trump a chance he'd criticize them as well and cut them off.
One thing Alan was, loyal to the democratic party. He would defend the stupidest of situations and never flinch. He got to see a republican elected too.
