It's fairly common for high rated / titled players to coach people with collaborative games. I've seen it before on twitch as well, I don't think that many people realize this is a violation of fair play. Though, I doubt it matters for normal matches, since like Dlugy said, it only worses your ELO and stands as a way to instruct weaker players with the mistakes that they make. It's probably only a more notable issue because titled tuesday is a cash event.

I don’t know that he’s toast just yet. Nothing has been confirmed as of his recent (last 2-3 years) that he has been cheating. It certainly doesn’t look good for Hans. It would be sad if he has been cheating recently. Especially since he’s used his “get out of jail free” cards already. But if he has been cheating and is caught for a 3rd time, he gets what he deserves. I want to hope this is not the case. But I firmly believe he should be dealt with strictly if he has been cheating. This is absurd. Whether Hans cheated or not it's clear the type of people these two are. Everyone who's ever played in any sport or competition knows the type: slippery, shady, totally unscrupulous and insufferable. Will go kicking and screaming the whole way as they are found out, gasping at the audacity of their accuser, clutching their pearls and claiming the moral high ground, only to admit in the end that they simply "wanted it more" and were willing to "do whatever it takes" while, predictably, regretting nothing. They look down on all the poor saps who play by the rules. They are smart, tactical, big brain alpha chads who don't spare a seconds thought for how their actions might degrade the integrity of the game they are so hell bent on winning. I'm not in the chess world but I'll admit this drama is captivating. You only need to hear Hans' many accents to get a glimpse of his motivations. As someone who has coached kids in a sports and chess, the fact that Dlugy was willing to 1) violate the rules by having his kids provide moves during Titled Tuesday, and 2) throw said kids under the bus when he gets caught is troubling. As a parent, I would not want my kids anywhere near this guy as a coach. Frankly, I don't buy his whole story. You simply do not have time to have several kids provide moves in a 3+1 game. Regardless of whether Hans cheated on his game with Magnus, it's over. I don't think his career will ever recover from this. The reputation of cheater would always follow him now. More players would probably refuse to play with him, and tournaments might stop inviting him. And.. he kind of deserves it. He did it to himself. I don't care if he admits to cheating when he was younger. Countless other young players never cheated, never even thought of cheating. Just because you're young, doesn't mean you get a pass, especially in sports where fairness and sportsmanship are paramount, especially in chess where so many of the top players start as child prodigies. Hans wrecked himself. And although he's catching so much flak, kudos to Magnus for staking his legacy on exposing this huge problem.

The thing is. None of these are proof hand cheated in this situation. Is it likely? Maybe. But is it fair to convict someone without sufficient evidence? No. Even if they have done it before. The whole reason it’s like this, is this is Hans life, his career. And if we prevent him from playing and are wrong.. it’s quite the injustice. Also, the majority agreed with Magnus that Hans is cheating look at all the gms and chats that made them interview Hans, but his silence made it a but suspicious, why? Because he was unwilling to confirm until later. Which he has finally done affirming his stance, where even more people are believing Magnus.

If there are more than 2 games in which he did cheat he will also know them. If the cheating was more intense then he did lie but will nevertheless be able to remember in which tournaments he did cheat. All those who support Niemann, I think have not realized that this controversy can end chess as we know, because if Niemann wins the cheats will continue and will be more constant in high-level players, that is, the game will never would have credibility again and cheaters would feel in a safe space. The machines would have destroyed our beloved game. :(

I hope the student that was helping Dlugy cheat is Hans so badly! Not because I want him to get punished but because it will make the movie so much better that comes out of all of this! 😂 The storylines developing from this are just incredible.

this just gets crazier with every layer that's peeled back. now we learn that Niemann basically went to a school for cheaters. and yet I can still hear the Hans stans screeching "THIS ISN'T HARD EVIDENCE!!!"

This isn't hard evidence he cheated against Magnus. It just shows he has cheated, but not against Magnus. Organizers, some GMs and Magnus already knew all of this. And yet, Hans was still allowed to play tournaments. For him to get banned, there would need to exist real evidence he did cheat against Magnus. Or if they find out Hans has been underestimating his cheating history.

I am absolutely loving this - the "circumstantial evidence" just gets better and better, still no word from Hans. What a reach it is to trust the reigning chess world champion who has no history of cheating.

Id be curious to how sure Magnus is that Hans was cheating during that game in the sinqfield cup. I wonder what % chance Magnus thinks Hans was cheating. Im sure decently high, because he wouldn't throw Hans under the bus if he didn't think there wasn't a reasonable chance. At the same time I think if Magnus had won the game in a hard fought game or even had drawed he wouldn't have claimed Hans cheated. Maybe losing was good though since it made Magnus more aware of a serious issue. Having said that I don't know if he cheated, and if he did there needs to be proof. I don't think his career should be ruined at this level without proof.
@JakeLondonRivers
@JakeLondonRivers 2 года назад
@@billj4525 I mean honestly that game can go either way, psychologically it's very possible Magnus already had the heavy assumption of him cheating and self sabotage himself, which is another topic that I still think is unfair at that level to have to play a known cheater. However, I don't think cheating is as hard for great chess players as people think, simply knowing the positional rating of each move is more than enough.

@@JakeLondonRivers Magnus played a line that he never played before and he was considering not playing the tournament in the first place. I think he set a trap for Niemann. He purposefully designed an opening that was weird so that Niemann had to resort to his engine multiple times so that he could prove afterwards that Niemann played weird engine only moves.

At this point, I just want to know if Hans did cheat over the board, how did he manage to pull it off? Was it the boring shoe or some sort of ingenious stuff like plastic non metal semiconductor chipped earplugs or something? (I don't know if that could even be made) I do hope that there is some ingenuity in his OTB cheating if he did cheat that is.

There you go Hikaru, just practice your endgame for a year or so and you too can beat Magnus easy
@harnageaa
@harnageaa 2 года назад
usually hikaru ends in a 'bad' endgame position with magnus and manages to draw or something, rarely 'hikaru' gets a good endgame (usually wins even with magnus). So theorethically he has the practice, just magnus in middle game, transform the position for better endgame for him (even if he would lose the middle game, he would win in a better endgame position. And hikaru is known for saving bad positions. So in a way i'd say hikaru is close to magnus in endgame skill but fail at transforming the middle game into a better endgame for himself
