WATCH AS HANS ZIMMER AND A TALENTED GROUP OF ARTISTS BRING THE MUSICAL SOUNDS OF ARRAKIS TO LIFE IN THIS LIVE PERFORMANCE OF DUNE’S ACADEMY® AWARD-NOMINATED SCORE.
@@user-ve5ln5le9yIt’s getting best sound design for sure. Best cinematography. Best story. It will 100% get best score. When paul first rides the worm i swear i felt like i was flying. literally flying. that is what movies are all about. those moments. if a movie can make you feel like that, it deserves any and every award.
I totally agree !! He is something else !!!! What a natural talent & ‘old soul!” I keep saying that since CMBYN, and “Hot Summer Nights” - have you seen him in “The King” on Netflix, and “Beautiful Boy!” - he was totally robbed again of Oscars right there 🥺😕😟 He is the best & sweetest!! I had the epic pleasure of finally meeting him personally twice for a bit - at the Premier for “Wonka” (also great movie 🎥!) 🏆 & for “Dune -Part 2” - he really is alwaayyss the SWEETEST & all to his fans & everybody! It’s insane! He truly is from another planet 🪐 ⚡️💫🖤🤍
That woman’s voice is so powerful, pretty clear but with just the right amount of grit to show the aggression. It’s both beautiful and terrifying at the same time.
Her voice is actually my least favorite aspect of this performance. I love the vocalizations in the soundtrack, but whatever filter they’re applying live makes it sound more like she’s lip syncing to a backing track. It doesn’t sound organic to the stage.
Dune probably has the most unique and recognisable soundtrack of any blockbuster in the last two decades. It feels both futuristic and ancient at the same time. You can tell there's a rich tapestry of history lying behind it. I can easily see it entering the limited pantheon of revered cinematic soundtracks alongside Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Jurrasic Park, etc.
last two decades is a bit wild, there's been so many amazing soundtracks even just going back last year to Oppenheimer was also amazingly unique and creative. All the current stars have been producing banger soundtracks for the last 2 decades, most of them with their own creative or unique twist that you can delve into!
I have seen this live, and I assure you, when she opens her mouth, the soundwaves break through every cell in my body. Through the bones and soul. Shivers!
I try and play up the “cool guy” personality, doing all that “puppies are kinda cute I guess” “star wars was like decent” to seem edgy and cool so it’s tough for me to geek out over stuff and admit that it’s actually impacting me, and I tried to hold onto that mentality through watching part 2. But when Jessica drank the water of life and fetus Alia Atreides opened her eyes, mixed with Hans Zimmer going absolutely bananas on the soundtrack, I kinda just accepted that this movie is too good for me to try and put on that “ehh it was alright I guess” mentality. I had to keep reminding myself throughout that “no, you are enjoying this a lot, it is moving you emotionally, stop trying to dismiss that and let yourself enjoy it to the fullest extent possible” and as much as I feel like a dweeb for being so newly passionate about some sci-fi flick, THIS FUCCIN MOVIE ABSOLUTELY SLAPS! I’m a big anti-Hollywood doofus, but credit where credits due, Hollywood finally hit one out of the park.
@@lukekelchner5471damn man. you got some serious issues, but i couldn’t agree more. absolute masterpiece. if the third movie improves upon the second, as much as the second did the first, then we are looking at an inarguable ‘greatest franchise of all time’. INARGUABLE. in 20 years, Paul Mu’audib Atreides will be a name more known than Harry Potter, Gandolf, Ned Stark, Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and Frodo Baggins all combined.
@@ImNeoFr oh I know it baby!! Actively making an effort to be more honest with myself and again as much as it displeases the “cool guy” in me to admit it, dune, a freaking sci-fi movie of all things, has kinda legitimately helped in that realm! It’ll be something I hopefully get to share with my future kids and grandkids:)
I saw it in Imax as well, there were instances where the soundtrack mixing was a little too overpowering overriding some the dialogue in some cases tbh
@@yannlebail968It looks like she wasn't. There were several times she is facing away from the mic and changing distance and it sounded the same. Could have been live for the people there and just not for the video.
I watched Dune Part 2 on Friday 1st of March 2024 and I'm still resonating with everything, including the incredible music. I'm going to watch it again in 4DX in theatre. This movie is one in a decade. And the evening you spend in the theatre watching it is an evening you will remember for your whole life! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Update: I watched it again on March 8 and I'm going completely nuts, I've never been obsessed with a film like that before, it's perfection (yes, I know there are changes from the book, but I think they are for the better). I read the book 24 years ago and lost my copy a long time ago, so I'm going to re-purchase the complete saga and also the films on Bluray. This is one of those moments in my life that I'll remember forever. 'LONG LIVE THE FIGHTERS!!!' Can't wait for Dune Part 3! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@hasan1980hb Um, I freaking love LOTR, but Dune 2 is also a phenomenal movie. They're also vastly different types and genres of film that can be appreciated apart from each other instead of pitted against each other.
I was lucky enough to see Hans Zimmer performing this in Stuttgart. The whole arena erupted in cheers when he said he just won the BAFTA for Dune as he was preparing to play us Paul's Dream. I was completely blown away by the whole show. 3 hours of greatness! The best day of my life.
I was too young when LOTR trilogy was out to 'feel' the movie in the big screen. When I heard Dune and Dune 2 delivered the same unique liveliness in the big screen, I CANNOT MISSED IT AGAIN. IT WAS A BLESSING
I read the book. Watched the film. Decided to re-read the book and the only thing I had in my head while reading was that lady's powerful voice. Suits the whole atmosphere *SO WELL*
@@MayaVeniceThe audiobook is easy to get through, especially if you get one that has different readers throughout (to help with the different narrators).
I saw a version of Dune many years ago and the best part was Sting. I read a lot of science fiction books in the 80s, and they were exciting, with a lot of action, many unusual but believable beings, "special effects" that the imagination made real, very convincing galactic trips. Dune was a thick and boring book, even if it is a cult one. 🤷💖🇨🇱
It was too much visual and not enough story. I get that he wanted to set up a franchise (and there will be a lot more storyline to come) but he missed to get people into the storyline. I read the books so I know how good this franchise will be once the story picks up but the sole focus on visuals killed it for a lot of people sadly
@@trueblood712 disagree... he wanted to tell the story by immerging us in the Universe of Dune first, I think the story was very well told and very engaging. It's in the details.
This music somehow makes you imagine a far away hostile world, covered with eerie creatures and the authenticity of that worlds indigenous people. To capture the entire essence of a story with a score is nothing short of absolute genius. Hans zimmer is a musical genius and truly one of the biggest talents of our time.
Hans Zimmer has written a lot of brilliant scores in his life, but his music for Dune...is really something else man. It sounds so otherworldly yet so personal at the same time, and the entire three-album score is all the proof you need that Hans Zimmer is one of the greatest composers to have ever lived!
it's so cool to get to watch a classic in the making while it's just releasing and as an adult with a well formed mind and not as a kid or airing in the TV and hearing people telling me "how cool" it was or that I "had to be there" Well I'M THERE now! and it feels amazing
Saw a local performance from my cities orchestra of this song. And the lady that sang the song stole the show. Her voice was so powerful that it drowned out the rest of the instruments in a good way. That was the best live music performance I have ever witnessed truly breathtaking.
I'm still not over the fact that Denis Villeneuve didn't get an Oscar for making the "unfilmable" not only possible but also spectacular. The score, the cinematography, the visuals, the acting, and the flow of the story. Watching Dune in 3D was an experience that made me grateful for living with our technology right now
Damn that sounds like such a wonderful treat to see it in 3D. I thought pretty much everything about it was brilliant, Villeneuve and Zimmer and Skarsgård and all of them really seemed to have a deep respect for the source material and it made for a rare moment in the history of film and literature that was as flawless as it possibly could have been.
@@jevinday Dune Part 1 and Avatar 2 are probably the only live action films in the last 5 years that used 3D to its fullest potential. Dune created so much space between the foreground and the background, that it felt isolating and vast, two things that work heavily in favor of the film, if you know the contents of it.
Damn this is unreal. Hans seriously needs to start playing some of this at shows ngl it's insane to know this was all one live set instead of layered in posy production 🤯
He created the Gladiator score, which was then copied by practically every "swords & sandals" movie that followed. He created the Inception score, which has been imitated in practically every action movie trailer since then, and often in the movies themselves. Can't wait to see how many sci fi movie scores in the next decade wind up being a carbon copy of this one!
@@chareeshlingala423 huh tenet isnt a zimmer rip off what are you saying. That composer brought plenty of unique things to that film. The hip hop elements. The prominent sidechain effect, the reverse orchestra, the tuned vocal as a part of the score.Hans hasnt done that before.
@@Obsonaudio People don't catch that it isn't live. At 1:47 the singer is over a foot away from the mic and facing Zimmer to her side but there's no drop off in sound as there would be in a live performance.
I see Tina on Electric Cello again! Love that she’s still working closely with Hans on soundtracks. Her collaboration with him on Wonder Woman’s theme really brought it to another level.
I know its not what she says but i first heard. "Go on, don't give up!" and now can't unhear it but it gives me strength when i hear it so Thanks Mr.Zimmer.💯🔥
Having had the privilege of seeing him live, I can just say the CHILLS, man, the chills. They have you right on the first beat of the drums. Not only are the musicians individually so talented but them as a whole ensemble playing together with such chemistry is just something else entirely. Hans Zimmer is a real genius, living LEGEND.
Most powerful damn music I've ever heard Ears nearly burst in the theaters but it was so damn good... It's exactly the kind of music I envisioned reading Dune
I went to the theatre alone during lockdown. I had the whole theatre room to myself. The entire room was shaking with this breathtaking soundtrack. It was incredible.
I saw this live in Manchester a few hours ago and it was unbelievable. Her voice and presence on stage accompanied by Hans and the amazing orchestra was just another level of genius
@@danielalbin1998 I had no idea either but looking into it, according to Zimmer it's a completely made-up language/chant used to show strength of the female characters throughout the story
0:29 It's like she was chanting a spell in the form of music. Anyone who hears it is caught in it's magic and now can't stop listening. Absolutely amazing, all of them.
I absolutely love this sound I legit just watched dune 1 almost 2 weeks ago going in with i mean 0 Knowledge whatsoever 😳 but I had seen part 2 on Friday and all I hear is this lady singing and I love it sm 😂😂❤
A masterpiece that no one can hum too..... Love Hans Zimmer but this soundtrack was a disappointment with nonexistent melodies. Masterpieces are timeless because a child can sing it and there's instant recognition. Dune soundtrack was just a bunch of noise
@@saucemagic it's meant to be alien like because he's subverting the European orchestra trope in Sci-fi movies. Look up his commentary about how he did it this way, just search hans Zimmer Vanity Fair Dune
Hans Zimmer is a massive fan of the book which is the main reason why he chose to compose this instead of Tenet. So having him to make the music for Dune was absolutely brilliant. His score is really just as good as the film
@@TheRockinBK well I feel like Ludwig Gorranson managed to make the Tenet score feel so Hans Zimmery. If I didn't know who Gorrason is, I would just assumed that it's Zimmer who is because it does feel like Zimmer put his hands all over the screen with his music
@@4deleDaz33m I think Ludwig did an absolutely spectacular job in Tenet & I do agree you can still feel Zimmer’s presence in it but I would have liked to see what crazy innovations Hans would’ve done with the idea of inverted music.. but oh well, hopefully we’ll still see a Zimmer-Nolan reunion in the future!
@@fernhausluv44 I disagree, the more I watch Tenet the more I realize what an insanely intricate & meticulous puzzle it is. Plus It keeps you on your toes with its intensity. I don’t think there’s any other director than Nolan with the mental capacity to pull off such a project.
Tbh I remembered how blown away I was at seeing part 1. It was so good I could barely stop thinking about it. Just watched part 2 few days ago and then looking back to this song, Hans Zimmer has really thrown it out of the park this time! It was only now that I realized that they've done some pretty noble work in the soundtrrack and sound design. What a great time to be alive!
Who in the world thinks "I'm gonna use an electric clarinet to bring this world to life." Zimmer is on a whole other level, he's a genius. Frank Herbert is proud!
I had the honor of seeing a Hans Zimmer concert a few days ago in Paris and they performed this soundtrack too. This woman's voice gave me chills during the whole performance. She and the whole band were absolutely amazing. Also Tina Guo (cello) is amazing ❤
