This is the greatest score, I don’t care that it’s a “kids” movie. It will always be a favorite and the older I get the more meaning I see behind the whole film.
I can't believe this is the only Oscar he's gotten for a score but man is it deserved! This is one of the best things I've ever heard, gives me chills everytime!
Seeing this unspectacular Oppenheimer score getting an Oscar and Zimmer only having 1 of them is a complete disaster, even if you should not compare etc pp. The amount of epochal songs written by Hans Zimmer and their presence in the minds of millions of people can't be expressed in Oscars.
0:10 sunrise of the music in the kingdom 0:44 harmonic change and "new dawn" 0:57 harmonic change to a minor key, beautiful melancholic melody 01:19 one of the main themes, sadness and strength 01:55 the dawn (sunrise) theme appears again 02:50 stampede, awsome performance, very difficult for live orchestra 04:04 this sub theme of the stampede is growing, it is one of the ones I like the most, how it makes a crescendo 05:02 very sad theme, Simba realizes his father's death 05:41 this melody is equal to a section of Mozart's Ave Verum Corpus. Really emotional 06:15 choir and principal melody are really outstanding 06:48 powerful music that reminds us of king Mufasa. World peace achieved! 07:48 tribal music, beautiful! 08:20 circle of life (the percussions make it sound too pop) Good performance!
It's my top 1 Disney fave 🦁👑 the music reminds me of my childhood.. I even played the soundtrack from start to finish on a cassette tape in my dad's car and home stereo before, and I watched the movie many many times, I even rewind the VHS tape again and again. Nostalgic 😁
Just got here by mistake only to find one of the most emotional set of interpretation of well known pieces. What an amazing group of musicians! BIG subscribe!
6:16 Mufasa : Como rey lo que me lleno de orgullo es tenerte como hijo Simba : padre no me dejes Mufasa : nunca lo hice y nunca lo hare. Recuerda quien eres
This spoiled me for the orchestra performance that premiered this year in the US. You're unbeatable. I swear I can tell who in the orchestra grew up with this movie just by their faces x)
I had it on video I would watch it 100 times a day I love the Lion King I had the soundtrack on cd now I have the movie on DVD and I watch it a lot even my boyfriend watches it with me
This is superb listening to everyone’s ears!! Bravo to all in their many days n nights of practice , it truly is unbelievable . Now I know what the word masterpiece means 😉
I can't believe it. How are they doing all these orchestras with theses classics Disney movies. Aladdin, The Lion king. The little mermaid. The Lion king is 30 years old.
Is there anyone else that is overwhelmed by the beauty human beings are capable of creating and performing harmoniously all together? This kind of performance only justifies our presence on earth ... And it is devastating that we can't be together to protect it the way humans can be together in an orchestra.
When Disney had the ability to change your whole perspective on life. I'm grateful to them for their commitment to this film in particular. I must have watched it over a hundred times on VHS after school when I was a kid in the 90's. I'm disappointed in how Disney strayed from truly GREAT works like this to superficial movies later on. I haven't seen anything as touching as The Lion King since its initial release. Maybe Alladin came close second. But all their modern stuff is not GREAT as TLK.
and most remarkable: The Lion King was Disney's B-production at that time while the A-team was working on Pocahontas and The Lion King was meant to be a gap filler for the audience while the next supposed blockbuster was underway😉
@@FFOC I can't believe it... That touching score by Hans Zimmer. It's heaven translated into music. The sincerity of the characters. The brilliant animation. The world class talent of the voice actors. The ingenuity of the storyline. Are you really telling me they thought this was a second class production? Wow. I personally think it may be one of the best movies Disney EVER produced. Maybe No. 1. But that's just how I feel about the Lion King. Others may disagree.
As you mentioned Pocahontas, I enjoyed one song from that movie: "Colours of the Wind". It was another great Disney song that really was both beautiful and carried a powerful message about how we should see natives in relation to the environment. I was a youth still in Apartheid South Africa at the time. So that song touched a nerve I didn't even know existed. I was very young, remember. But the Lion King hit MUCH closer to home as a South African boy at the time. Words cannot express how much I admire that film and especially the music. It's familiar, yet magical. It was and is the greatest Disney film I've ever seen.
@@johann.9271 they weren't banking on movies with talking animals back then and even expected it to fail, which makes that movie even more special, and the remake with years of production and millions spent on it doesn't even come close.
Excellent interpretation! very emotional!! :) It is possible if you could share the orchestra sheet music with me, it is to be able to present it to my students, it would make them very happy, please, I have been looking for the sheet music for a long time. Cheers! from Chile
Thank you very much for your kind review🙏As for the score, it is rented material and subject of a rental agreement which allows the use only for the defined concert and forbids the performer to share the material, so I'm afraid we cant help you with this, sorry!
