Ive owned one for some time its a wonderful sword it does in fact and is supposed to have a developed back edge at the first 4" of the tip with a sort of stiletto profile this allows usage of some broadsword technique donald mcbane and george silver were fans of this pattern of blade the thick spine allows for advantages in countering something like a saber "beating" in parry this is a true cut and thrust implememt.
