Mike, Glad you were there to witness the crash and point out the impaired driver to the responding officers! We LEO’s appreciate the publics participation in public safety incidents (as witnesses) and their backing us up. God bless from Idaho!
GREAT JOB MIKE! Not surprising Mike was willing to help as needed and safely but persistently followed the subject until law enforcement arrived. Mr. Morgan chose the RIGHT THING TO DO!!!! He also had a video of the behavior of the subject who was operating the vehicle. That will help in prosecution, should that be something that is still done in PA. Keep it up Morgan family!!!
One never knows when life is up! 20 years ago today no one knew it was the last day of life. Make peace with your Maker and live loving one another! Looking forward to how that birch will look! I’m glad you are ok and safe!
After 32 years in the fire and EMS business I have to agree with Mr. Mike, seen way to many bad things from people that are impaired, driving or not. Thank you for taking the time to assist the first responders and for keeping yourself safe.
If you're installing a wood panel wall, birch makes a good accent border or inlay. My Granddad use to make furniture using oak and birch. Have a day as we remember the victims and families of 911.
Hello Mike and Outdoors with the Morgans (found you via Concrete with the Hauses! I know you got Tom going with his channel! 👍) You are NOT kidding when you say things can change in a minute! While driving my husband out of the parking lot after having eye surgery (he's in the passenger seat with his right eye patched) when, while making a legal left turn, we were (my husband's side!) crashed into two times by a car which then took off! My husband yells "follow them!" which I did for a few blocks into a driveway (I believe they switched drivers -- one apparently was an illegal) A bit of shenanigans with insurance and getting car repaired but all was okay than God! It could have been much worse but you are so right about things changing so rapidly! Happy to be a new subscriber!
I was wondering whatever happened to that Oak. Can’t wait to see the final product. Glad you are ok and able to help at the accident. Crazy how fast a day can change.
The root system on those birch trees make a lot of people cut them down just to get rid of the roots so they can mow. Beautiful white wood with brown streaks or flecks. Love the smell while sanding in the shop. I have mostly yellow “river” birch. Birch is a medium hard hardwood. Easy to cut on the mill. Easy to work in the shop. Baltic birch plywood is made of birch. All of the plies are birch. I love Baltic birch. Birch was going up in price about 15 yrs back. The hardwood suppliers were selling beech instead because it was cheap and stains out similar. Birch is great cabinet making wood because it match birch plywood of course.
Man I'm glad everyone is ok. I could tell in the clip when everyone is trying to get the guy to sit down that he was drunk or on something. I'm right there with you on not having any patience or sympathy for people like him.
Helpful tip: Try adding a yellow (or your choice of color) vertical stripe on the inside walls of the trailer bed to indicate center of axle(s). They are helpful to balance your load at a glance.
When I was in construction, we used birch wood paneling and solid stock in some trim. Built a grandfather's clock out of birch wood. I'm sure there's a lot of skilled wood workers that can share many other applications. Will be interesting to see how you use it. Success brother. 👍💪
I spent almost 28 yrs. dealing with vermin like that. I don't miss going to a home at three in the morning to tell a family that a son, daughter, father or mother won't be coming home due to a bad decision on someone's part. Thank you for stopping to see if you could render assistance Mike. In this day of "get the video" it's nice to see someone that will help.
Thank you for being a responsible citizen in your reaction to that incident, Mike. You set an example for us all to follow. You didn't take on the role of law enforcement, but you made their job easier. You might think about stripping the bark of that birch log to go as fire starter packs for some of your campfire-type bundles.
What a beautiful park. I was a volunteer fireman for close to 20 years and we seen guys and gals like that alot it is always good when nobody is was hurt.
Hi Mike I’m bob I live on the lower eastern shore of Maryland regarding the birch log years back we use a lot of birch plywood to make cabinets for kitchens with a natural finish they were beautiful and a lot of homes had them it was also used as natural finished trim n some high end furniture.keep up the great work love your channel
God Bless You Mike!! Life happens so quickly!! That is a beautiful park and I hope that birch log is a Beauty on the mill!! Have a wonderful weekend!! 😎
Thank goodness you were not in that crash. People are crazy nowadays. We had a similar issue with a young man on our private property. He had multiple calls on him through out the town. He ended up on our property and crashed into our power supply pole killing our power and destroying his girlfriends vehicle. Police had him down in front yard at gun point. His 3 yr old son crying in front seat with no child car seat or seat belt being used. He was arrested for property destruction and endangerment to the public. We never found out why this person was acting crazy. Our driveway gate was open, middle of the day on a Sunday. Unreal! Thanks for your videos - awesome content on your property, shop, equipment, family. So good. Brings a breath of fresh air to my day to watch your videos. Also, watching videos with the concrete crew you use, at their you tube channel!😀🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
And we wonder why we have to do drug testing for people that drive for a living. After 50 years in the transportation business, I have no tolerance for people that do drugs.
@@Bo88y22 Just relying on what Mike observed. In my years of transportation I have seen too many of these types of accidents which were caused by strung out drivers that should have never been allowed to drive anywhere with anything.
@@Bo88y22 yes I hope it wasn't a medical emergency and people treated him like a drunk. I have seen diabetic episodes that you would think the person was on drugs totally unaware of what was going on.
This may be hard to believe for some, but my experience with emergency services has led to a conclusion. 20-25% of people on road should not be issued a driver's license. I have heard stories, excuses etc that are so far fetched on wreck scenes I wondered why even tell me that.
Glad you were okay, Mike, and certainly grateful that no innocent people were injured, particularly children. I continually am amazed at how upset people get about the whole firearm thing, when one of the most dangerous weapons that any given person has at their fingertips is a motor vehicle and their own impairment. 🙏
Yes agreed, that is why every army in the modern world goes to war in a car!!! Driving around mowing down bystanders without even having a license ( permit )
Yeah take away weapons from law abiding Americans and use our tax dollars to leave assault weapons in the hands now of the people who were instrumental in the 911 attacks
@@petermavus4131 What madness have i waled into?? "use our tax dollars to leave assault weapons in the hands now of the people who were instrumental in the 911 attacks" What tax has left weapons in the hands on 9/11 attackers? You actually think tax is at fault?? I think it is more likely your lack of understanding of the English language. lol at what you just typed,, You are a moron sir!
Yes a bit “cray-cray”, but appreciate that our police officers experience this crap daily and get “abused” for trying their best to do a very difficult job! I couldn’t do their job as I would shoot first and ask questions later……like you, zero patience for this type of irresponsibility. Thx for sharing.
Typical, US police, shoot first ask questions later. Do you know if the guy had a medical episode? Do you know if he was impaired through drink or drugs? Do you know if the accident made the chap a bit loopy. Do you know if the low sun caused the guy to get blinded.?You know nothing, you have the IQ of a typical US sheriff deputy. People like you should keep schtum until you find out what really happened before you draw your gun………..after all one of these scenarios could happen to you and yours.
@@heaven-is-real I shall type this slowly for the hard of thinking. I…f the guy had a MEDICAL condition……. exacerbated by the crash……..people can do unexpected things. How’s that for a scenario for you?? Or just get your gun out and be done with it eh? BTW I am no Democrat. I am not even American. Let’s just say I’m from the old country.
It's amazing how things work out Mike your timing and no kids around in a way he should be counting his lucky star that jail for a few days and an empty wallet is about all he'll receive. We just never know what each day has in store for us. That park looks like a very nice place to bring your family and friends to and nice to see It's being maintained especially when municipalities don't always have a bunch of money to spend toward these kind of projects. Good time to get the ground ready for grass that's what I'm about to do I'm getting ready to aerate my front yard especially before the leaves fall it won't be long. I love fall but despise winter but if it wasn't for winter we couldn't appreciate spring and that works for me. Be careful and stay safe both you and your wife.
Glad to hear that you were a witness and not a participant in the demolition derby. There are some real pieces of work in the world these days. It's getting harder and harder to avoid the crazies.
That is a good size for a birch. They have a tendencies to rot when they get that size . Here they are our hardwood. Probably the best smelling fire wood of all . The lumber is also beautiful but not that big. Cut the slabs you cut off for firewood. You will enjoy it. Birch bark is one of the best fire starters ,ever. Thanks for sharing.
When I saw those planks on the pallet I thought, "Gee I wonder if these are for the Zilly Park job?" Glad that they are moving on it. Let's hope the law does not fail us with that character that caused that collision, I hope he is not (will not be) a repeat offender. That just burns my cookies! Great video Mike, thumbs up.
Having one's cookies burnt is a bad thing. My dad used to complain about "frosted brinnies." I never did figure out what brinnies are but I have my suspicions.
Driving a school bus for several years, you see crazy things like this, all the time. I even have had a sleepy semi truck driver cross the line on a slight curve and took out my bus mirror on the left side with his mirror. Bus body was okay and thankfully no students were on board yet. 🙏
Glad you were there and able to lend a hand. Birch's tight grain and hardness makes it great for cutting and charcuterie boards. I have. Never turned it but it would probably turn well.
It was sad to hear and see the accident. Glad you were not injured or involved in the accident. You did your duty in assisting and Im sure the local police were glad someone was on top of the incident. The birch is a pretty wood over the Tennessee way. Usually used for furniture. I think you got it right on the money about your grass. The extra top soil will help. Keep them videos coming. Love them.
That’s a close call Mike. Glad you got out of there okay. Thanks for sharing with us. Hope there’s no problems, you did the right thing and that’s what it takes to keep this Country of ours operating on the up and up. Stay safe and keep up the good work and videos. Fred. 🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👋👋
Mike, could I suggest that you could plant wheat on your weak spot beside the shop? If so, sow it really thick and it's about that time of year up there. Here in North Alabama I have to wait 2 or 3 more weeks. Next spring I let mine get pretty tall then disc or till the wheat in. It will help build up the soil. Then plant your grass seed or lay sod. Good video! I'm glad you were not in the wreck. Hey, if you have already planted grass seed you can just sow wheat seed on top of the ground and it should come right up. Then mulch up the wheat next spring.
Birch is great for furniture. I've made several pieces including a Thos. Moser seven drawer dresser. Has nice grain pattern and takes stain well. My Dad uses it to make all sorts of intricate things with the scroll saw.
I echo your sentiments on drunken or drugged driving. Glad no one was hurt badly. I wonder if you could mill the birch into a usable accent for you Game Room as a part of your history in growing up in that park.
What a nice little park they have there. Very glad no one was hunt in the accident. I don't care what anyone says, being a police officer is a very tough job. A job that I would not want but I'm very glad there are people who do. Hope once the park people use those boards you'll be able to show us what they did and how it looks. Thanks for sharing.
You haven't lived until you have fought with a naked man high on drugs. Hats off to my brothers and sisters in law enforcement having to deal with these type people on a daily basis. Unfortunately he probally won't do jail time. Incidents like those are way too common with the lack of accountability these days. Glad no one was hurt.
Yup, had one hit my neighbor's parked car a few years back. He had some sort of girls crop top on and nothing else. He got out and tried to run from the cops when they arrived. Once they got the cuffs on they wrapped him in a blanket and took him away. He was out three days later. No insurance. No one to sue. They were just out a car since they only had liability on it. Sucks to live around junkies and meth heads.
I think you’ll like that white birch, although the limb on that top end may limit the length of good boards. While birch is very common around my areas of Ontario, and many other parts of Canada for that matter. It’s nice wood for woodworking and also has a good heat value as firewood - about the same as cherry.
Here in Bavaria, we only use birch as firewood since i can think of. It smells fantastic, has a good heat value and works great when you have an open fireplace, because it doesn´t shoot sparks. I hope my english isn´t too bad, and you understand what i mean.
Zelienople is a cute little town. We are up in Oil City. Ever been up there? Glad you were not in the accident. I agree and don't understand what goes through peoples minds when they are under the influence. Glad no one was hurt and hope that driver is put away for awhile and gets the help he needs.
Yes Mike you never know when something like that could happen to you or anyone else! The snap of a finger everything in a person's life could be changed or snuffed out! That is why everyone should live each day as if it is your last, live life to the fullest at the end of each day make sure everything is alright with you and between your family! and with God ! 👍👊
Brich is a beautiful wood it big in turning on a wood lathe but makes awesome boards too you will like it I will be curious to see it when you saw it out one thing saw it soon birch will rot fast
Birch it real nice for woodturning. I’ve sawn small logs into boards and made small boxes out of them. It can have some really nice grain depending on the log
That should look pretty nice when they are all done with the railing. I am with you Mike, I have zero patience with people that want to destroy there lives like that. I am glad that you are ok. You never know what you are going to come across these days. That grass should come up good and strong. You stay safe and keep up the good work!
Glad you are safe: 40 years in EMS and it still amazes me how quickly it all can change! RE: Birch it is in between the hard maples and the soft maples in "hardness", it can have a little more unpredictable grain but by the same token it is widely used for plywood veneers. A lot of "maple plywood" is really birch.
I'm glad you were not involved in the accident. A few days ago I remembered when you got the red oak from the park. I was going to ask whatever happened to it. It is good to see that it will be used in the park project.
Good Morning Mike and the Morgan family... I did a hunting camp's end wall (vaulted ceiling) with 1" by 6" birch, herring bone pattern.. It came out very very nice.. Turned into the trophy wall..
Mike, glad you were a witness and not a direct participant in the accident. The title had me concerned. Top soil looks great and birch is one of my favorite trees. Can’t wait to see you saw it.
Mike we are so glad that you’re alright. You never know what you’re meeting on the road or going encounter these days. I have zero tolerance for people who drink or drug and drive. Take care and have a good one 👍👍👍❤️
Now that is just crazy happening in the morning. I used birch quite a bit doing wood turning. It is a nice wood that is soft and doesn’t tear up the tools and if the log is really good it might have some good grain patterns.
Great job Mike! I know we all have problems but sooner or later we have to face them and take responsibility for are self’s. Just glad you didn’t get hurt.
Please everyone, take a moment and say a prayer for all the families who lost someone in the terrorist attacks that took place 20yrs ago today. Their lives were changed forever.
Sawed a few white birch very easy to saw very large grain and very wet. Twist very bad if left out in the weather isn’t a very hard wood I usually made pallets out of it have a great day buddy
