the fonzi wasn't expecting that since richie cut in wanna handle things on his own the fonzi got embarrass the The Fonz wanna impress the lady nobody like a show off well that his friend he let go
well the fonz was embarrass that richie jump in In gear the fonz would handle him self calm and cool tell the guy put it away or ill put that knife away my self since richie jump in it was to late to react the fonz would say ill the teacher he a writer the fonz shoulder say. ill the teacher he is a student teaching him how to defend from attacker ill don't want to put him through a wall my boy handle it
Nah, Richie should have slowly lifted his gaze from the knife guy after his defeat, looked Fonz straight in the eyes, do a thumbs up and go, "Ayyyyyy..." Fonz would have had a midlife crisis right there in the bar.
I always remembered this scene because it was so unexpected, more of a serious confrontation rather than the over the top humorous ones in all the earlier shows. I think Ron Howard did the best he could to act like his fighting instincts kicked in, but the moves are right out of A Force of One, a Chuck Norris 1979 movie where a pimp pulls a knife on Norris' character. It's almost a move-for-move recreation, and Howard probably watched and practiced Norris' moves until he could do farily imitate him. Norris did it better, of course. :-)
I'll always remember A Force of One because I asked my dad to take me to go see it. Instead he lent his car to my older cousins so they could take us but they chose The Fog instead. I was upset but kept it to myself. To this day I haven't seen A Force. I heard it wasn't good but probably no better or worse than The Fog.
Sooner or later you grow up and become a man. This was a grown up Richie. The new age Richie kicks ass. You can't have someone fighting your battles all your life. Fonzie was Richie's protector all of his young teenage years. Now it's Richie's turn to return the favor. And I love that he used his skills to protect. Not to bully.
Knowing now, those were fake moves. Nice story. Nice intentions. But that fight was fake! They could have choreographed it better. And they could have done without the yelling.
After Richie defended the waitress from the guy harassing her I love how Fonzie was like "Look Richie I'm glad you defended the waitress but you made look bad.'
I loved how Fonzie just stood there not confused by watching Richie beat the crap out of the guy then Fonzies line at the end and Richie just excepting it as his way of life now. Priceless old school Happy Days in season 11 back for one episode.
@@juliuscepeda9655 not technically true whilst you dont actually see.it he is seen taking one guy outside and you hear him beating him up he called fonz big mouth after threatening potzie. There might have been other scenes where he had fights off screen.
Remember watching that on TV as a kid. I'd had about six months of Karate lessons at the time and hated it, cause it came difficultly then I saw and thought "Wait... I could use it to fight bullies!"
Chachi said that to Jenny Picolo when he was trying to help Eugene Belvin impress Jenny. And, in that scene Joani ended up beating up Eugene! The Cunningham kids were tough! Lol.
Oh, I would have loved to see that. Richie (sees Rocko and the other guy at a pinball arcade): Hey, Rocko. Remember me? You and I have a score to settle.
Well before Happy Days he wanted to be a filmmaker and went to film school. At one point when to change the the show to "Fonzie's Happy Days" he threatened to quit and go back. The producers backed down knowing how important he was
YES, but in the end, Richie got out of control with Fonzie and The Fonz showed how in TOTAL control he is AND how GREAT a guy/person he is, WHOA!!!!!!!!
I think he wanted to show he had come a long way from being the High School Guy who always had Fonzie to have his back. I also feel that he realized he couldn't spend the rest of his life having Fonzie fight his battles.
@Herry Valenzuela I believe you're right. I loved it when Fonzie showed restraint and didn't hit Richie back because he knew something wasn't right with Richie. And I always have to laugh when Fonzie said "You already did the scariest thing you'll ever do. You hit me!" Just writing that just now made me smile.
I remember when Fonzie told Richie in that episode, You've got no reputation for toughness, Once in your life you had to of hit somebody, And Richie says, That's not a good detail to leave out Fonz! So funny!😆😆
Notice how they just turned their attention away from the dangerous man with the knife. Because no one ever gets up angry, retrieves their knife and goes back on the attack.
The guy that Ritchie knocked out was a background regular during the Seasons 3-7 of Happy Days. You would normally see him in the scenes that took place in Arnolds along with a bunch of other background regulars.
I don't think i watched Happy Days this far into it's run. by 1983 , it was already a different world from the first few seasons of this in the 70's. when you didn't wanna miss an episode. 74,75,76,77,78 we didn't have Adelphia cable yet. by 1983 we'd had cable for a few years. i was probably more worried about not missing any MTV by then.
Richie told the bullies, When I turn back around you guys better be gone, And it was funny when Ralph and Potsie got scared and ran to the jukebox,And Richie asked Fonzie, Did it work? And Fonzie said, Well you just scared Potsie and Ralph to death, So funny! 😆😆😆
THIS episode should’ve been the last one! We didn’t need to c Chachi and Joanie gettin married. Who cares? Ha. The link to show was always Richie and Fonzie. It gave the characters and the fans closure. There was no need to go further with the series IMO.
The guy who got his ass kick, wasn’t he aslways a stand in actor at Arnold’s for the first five seasons? He went to Jefferson High and The university of Wisconsin with Richie Ralph and Potts.
When Fonzie Asked Richie Hey Rich Isn't That My Job? It Is To Laugh What a Joke! He Never Did a Damned Thing On Happy Days. When Richie Was Being Bullied Fonzie Would Walk In And They Would Be Terrified It Was So Stupid. Now That Part That HW Had In The Movie Scream!-(1996) As The Principal That How Fonzie Should Have Been When He Was Dealing With Bullies. He Showed That He Didn't Take Anybody's B.S. In That Movie.
There was another time as well. Fonzie had a fight with guy named Rico in the episode "Fonz Meets Kat". Rico attacked him with a piece of wood. Fonzie blocked it and threw him one handed over the bar. There were also a few times that Fonzie fought off camera (like the time he had a rumble in the kitchen with a cook who he thought insulted his possible mother).
It occurs to me, watching this, that I don't think we ever saw the Fonz actually hit anyone on the show. He always had Richie's back, but the bullies would always back down, and there was never any real fighting.
He actually did punch a punk who challenged Chachi to a boxing match, and I'm sure had the coward not jumped out the window, he would made a pulp of the creep that tried to rape Joannie
