@@shadicTPZ Not only does it skirt around legal hassle (as _Rock Around the Clock_ is a copyrighted rock 'n roll sock hop/malt shop/restaurant diner classic), but it ensures the opening theme & closing credits use the same tune. What's more, it's basically deferring to the name of the show itself.
I used to watch a Tyler Perry show called The Haves and the Have Nots, and there was an actor named Brett Davis, who played a character named Mitch Malone, who's part of a mob family. When I first saw him on that show, he sported a white T shirt, jeans and boots, and he reminded me of Fonzie. Especially this scene on this intro where he gives the soda machine a kick that releases 2 Coke bottles. But other than being taller and more muscular, Brett Davis looks like the Fonzie type.
Despite not being original, I think the "Happy Days" song seems to fit this just fine. At least it retains the record starting up on the jukebox platter; I always thought the Season 3 onward intro wasn't the same without it, and it's pretty neat to see it here with the "Happy Days" song!
The DVD copies of season 2 had the season 3-10 intro song. Not sure why those DVD copies are used in syndication over 10 years later though. I know Paramount seems to be stingy with remastering shows, so perhaps they felt using the DVD prints in syndication for season 2 would be more cost efficient for them.
It's so stingy, seasons 7-11 have never seen official release onto DVD or Blu-Ray & only season 2 is available on Paramount+ whereas PlutoTV has many other episodes. The problem is that after season 5 with the infamous shark jump, the show began to dip and it's likely because of that (and potentially, the licensed rock 'n roll music used) we'll never see a full complete series release, even though some of us have been waiting ever since the series' original television run ended for it.
@@TherealRNOwwfpooh Happy Days theme started in season 3 and any original recordings used in the show and syndication from 70s and 80s has long been replaced : (
@@gerawallstar3487 I pay for a subscription to Paramount+ AND even before Viacom entered the streaming platform scene, I had already purchased the seasons 1-6 DVD box set of _Happy Days_ so I can confirm with reasonable certainty that only season 2 of the show is on Paramount+, whereas Pluto TV also airs selective random episodes on its own dedicated channel that also airs reruns of spinoffs _Laverne & Shirley_ and Robin Wiliams' introductory sitcom _Mork & Mindy_ yet the icon for the channel on Pluto TV is a picture of The Fonz with the _Happy Days_ jukebox logo behind him.
