I think he got what he REALLY needed from their relationship through the marriage of their parents. He needed that sense of place and belonging. But I have to agree I would have liked to see him find his own love interest, though realistically I can't imagine him being emotionally fit for a serious relationship with a woman for a few more years...
His feeling for Jianjian is definitely just pure platonic. He only wants to be the same house register with her and their dad, hence the marriage proposal. And at the end he got what he really wanted and needed: a complete family where he belongs. I believe after the ending, he will gradually develop his own love life since his emotional baggage is more or less settled with this ending. He will be happy for sure, no need to be pitied.
