Ling Xiao's dad could have done better to protect his son from his mother though. He was also his legal parent, he could have refused when they guilted Xiao into taking care of a mother who abandoned him and a sister he didn't know about. Even after he found out what his mother did to him he still let him go back to Singapore alone. Both parents did him wrong of course his mother was worse
They started out as neighbors when they were very young. His parents argued a lot so he began to spend time with the neighbors who fed him. Then his mother left him and his dad. The two fathers decided to raised their children together along with another boy her father took in. (FYI That other boy is the guy who owns the coffee shop.) This is a comment on the Chinese custom of standing up as sign of respect, to recognize a visitor & make him feel welcomed. In this episode, both young ppl seemed to forget the culture of respect when they kept the conversation going while seated & didn't even offered a seat to the old man. This is not a good example to the younger generation.
@@jordie6688 he is still a guest & an elder.. So you're saying respect or courtesy can be dispensed with if it's you parents or grandparents? Shldnt young ppl stand to acknowledge him & wait for the old man to sit before you do? If you're Chinese, then you were not taught proper docorum.
