this family is epic. 'nuff said. but I'm going to keep on saying things anyways. ;P My favorite parts: when Sweet Ann says 'sweet', and you think 'ha!' because of the little pun there... when Sweet Ann (again) sings 'wasn't meee~' and Big Al replies in his goofy, sarcastic voice 'really.' well - Oliver's voice in general and how he reminds me of Oliver Twist and of course, Big Al's voice.

@dappleback Thxs alot man! I appriciate it all. I saw Oliver's bird more as a pet. Him being an outdoorzy kinda guy works too, since he doesnt were shoes(i wonder wut else he doesnt wear O.o). I can see all of your thoughts on Oliver fitting in very well(shy too). I can also beleive if he has a crush on Sonika(they're both young and she's kinda hot). Roommates could work I saw them as bros and sister(Sonika started that). He's definately a naturelover maybe he skinny dips every morning LOLXD!

@dappleback Since you've worked for with him i gotta tell ya, I think you made an awesome decided. He's natural, cheery, and playful. I never really mock any vocaloids because I love them all(Tonio and Leon more or less :i). I do have a few questions if you dont mind: 1) Did the design of Oliver come first or did the voice? 2) Did you do like voice interviews and a contest to fine the voice? 3) What inspired his look a bare foot vocaloid is cool? 4) Is Oliver 13? Thanks :)!

@dappleback Well honestly his accent isn't -incredibly- noticable here since I'm not used to it yet xD Al really is the only american sounding Vocaloid; the others have this weird. . . .>O>should we call it an accent? or a disorder? xD I just feel like the accent might make the english wonky, you know? ouo Also, you're really his designer? :D That rocks.

Oh I just noticed something. Every last PowerFX english vocaloid vocaloid has an accent that doesnt follow like Zero-G's english accented vocaloids. Sweet Ann with an Australian accent ( Her voice actor had one), Big-Al with an american 1970's 'The Outsiders' accent. Maybe even new yorkan? And then Oliver with an english accent(we all should know ;D).

OH MY GOSH.I never really expected for Oliver to be THIS good. His english is actually understandable!

I have to say that I hoped Oliver to be a bit older, but I guess that in the end I don't mind since his voice sounds nice.

@SuperFlashfish Oh, no, don't worry about it! XD (this is actually kind of fun!) 5. I decided that I'd leave that one up to fans. They seem to think that the bird is his item. 6. To me Oliver is just sort of an average kid. Not too rowdy, but not too sullen, doesn't talk a whole lot. Maybe a little shy? I see him as a nature lover as well. But that's just my interpretation~ 7. Oliver just sounded better~ 8P 8. I see them as roommates and/or coworkers. XD

@dappleback Honestly, I have one simple question (if you can answer it). Does Oliver have any stitches that you can see like Big Al and Sweet Ann do?

I can't really hear Oliver's voice that much in most parts, but in the parts I did he sounded really cute! I hope there's an improvement of diction for him over the older Engloids'.

@dappleback Ok thx. it makes sense to me. So does Oliver have any monster bases like Sweet Ann(Frankenstein's bride) or Big-Al(frankenstein. hey just realized, His name is like Big Apple huh). I'd say Dr. PowerFX's temp. Temp's are used a lot in this field of science. Maybe after Sweet Ann was made she complained about wanted to get married. So Dr. PowerFX made Big-Al(sadly Sweet Ann wasnt impressed) Then years later it's revealed there was helper in all this, his temp Oliver! How's that sound?

@dappleback Whoa wait?! You worked on Oliver's design for almost a year?! Wow! I was gonna ask you(again lol XD) was it hard to make a vocaloid, ya know with all the recording, vibrato, attacks, vowels, constants, etc., but after seeing that comment it must be(I'd still like it if you'd answer though. I always wonder if it is that hard). And are you a little young to be designing a vocaloid for something thousand-million dollar company(lol phineas and freb moment)?

For some reason, Oliver reminds me of the book "Lord of the Flies" O_____o

@AngelEmfrbl On the contrary, Oliver's much less of a "shota" than Len. The term "shota" is a Japanese archetype, therefore does not really apply to characters outside of Japanese culture. Shot's are also more accurately defined as overly cute/girly boys, usually with no more purpose than just fanservice, and are almost always voiced by adult females. Oliver's just a little boy. the whole, "cuteness" thing is just sort of a side effect. We weren't aiming for cute, we were aiming for choir boy.

@Eenkin That would be all of them, I believe. Two of those three Japanese boys were voiced by adult females, one by an adult male. Only two of the VOCALOIDS listed, including both genders, were voiced by actual children, one of which was female, one of which was male, making Oliver the only young male voice to be voiced by an actual young male, as well as the only young English-speaking voice. Oh. And he has a British accent. >u>

@ChibiVocaloidxPika Len is voiced by a adult female, Oliver's voice is a 13 year old boys. Oliver's more shota then Len is.

@Cinderpool28 Thank you for coming to that panel! (And thanks for being secretive. That's pretty awesome of you. XD) Yeah.... those tech issues were a real bummer. I think we've taken measures to ensure that that'll never happen again. VocaTone will be back at Banzai next year, and we plan on doing another panel, as well as other possible VOCALOID events. So hopefully those will run a bit more smoothly. 8P

Actually he might be more like that cousin from the the Original A.... no wait that was Munsters, where they had the cousin that was totally normal looking. though those two shows were competeing at that time, so I think he's gonna be like the cousin in munsters (Granted she's female) Or he might be based off a version of Pugsley

@DevilDacy92 Sweet Ann has those stitches, too, she has them on her neck, arms, and legs. They put bandages on Oliver because they said that stitches wouldn't really suit him and they do this because they have some Frankenstein theme for the PowerFX Vocaloids for some reason.

@Eenkin You are missing like just a few. Even though he's not released there's Lui (12). Mizuki doesnt have an official age but you could consider her due to that. Miki and Gumi are kinda young I always saw them as 15. Aoki Lapis is also young sounding kid like too. Other then that it's just repectable males and mature females.

What would you make Oliver's character item? 6. To you, what could Oliver's personality be? (Ex. Cheerful, yandere, bratty, simple etc.) 7. Why was Oliver's name changed from Cody not that I have a problem with it? 8. Do you see the PFX vocaloids as a family(mom, dad, son) or (brothers and sisters)?

@juzinhabio89 Oliver's eyes are yellow though not blue. PowerFX makes "monster" themed Vocaloids (hence the "PowerFX family based n the Addams family song). Thus Oliver is a monster themed Vocaloid.

The gasp is Oliver, Ann doesn't have a gasp, Big Al doesn't have that sound effect.

He has quite a nice voice! A british accent is certainly what I have been looking for, because you can't quite hear the accents in the other british vocaloids of the earlier generations. I certainly can't wait to hearmore about Oliver! Keep up the great work, and Happy Halloween!

@HisokaKurone XD Well, being his designer, I'm really hoping that people will like his art~ I worked for roughly a year refining the design, studying different styles and origins of clothing, and working on improving my drawing skills specifically for the purpose of doing Oliver's box art. When we showed it off at Anime Banzai people went nuts over it, so I hope that helps to boost your confidence. 8P And don't worry, solo demos are coming. (We're practically done with at least two)

@SuperFlashfish Thank you for the kind words~! To answer your questions: 1. The voice came first, and I based the design off of it. 2. I don't know exactly how Oliver's voicer was found, but I know it wasn't any sort of contest. I believe it was someone Anders knew personally. 3.He has bare feet because I thought the shoes that I had given him previously looked a little too girly. Bare feet just fit the character better. 4. Oliver has no defined age. He's around 11-13.

@Takapon218 Actually, his accent sounds MUCH more natural than all of the other Engloids so far, in my opinion. (I'm his artist/designer, so I've heard his voice beyond just this small demo) To be honest I have a hard time even identifying what accents most of the Engloids have. (Al sounds... American I guess?) The rest of them just have a "VOCALOID" accent in my opinion. 8P But Oliver's voice completely caught me by surprise when I first heard it. His accent is easily identifiable and natural.

@SuperFlashfish Yeah, a lot of work and consideration went into that design, but I think all of that work paid off. I'm pretty proud of it. C: Hrm... I'm not a programmer, so I don't know much about making them. I do know that recording it takes a long time, and a lot of work, and good pronunciation is very important. Other than that I don't know much about the process. And yes, I am rather young, but I'm just as capable as any adult. I work very hard, and I am very dedicated to my work. C:

oh man. not what I was expecting at all. I was thinking he was going to have a voice like vy2, but at a higher pitch. but it's definitely adorable. it has a natural feel to it and it doesn't sound very 'shota' but more on the boyish side. can't wait to see the demos.

@Dchan1213 No, we wanted a young, choir boy voice. We never intended for him to be cute, it just came as a side effect. 8P But as long as Oliver has fans, then we're happy.

@TokoWH Once you know his voice pretty well you can pretty easily pick it out from the other two. C: His thick British accent gives him away.
