say what you like about shaun ryder the guy is a fighter..a survivor..hes fucking caned it most of his life,gotten in loads of shit as the whole band have but theyve got that unique manchester/northern spirit of dusting themselves down and getting on with it..you cant bottle that..its in you or it isnt.Step on is a great song..when that comes on in a pub/club it still fucking rocks.good luck to them

A bunch of Salford lads who were either gonna make summat of their lives or probably end up in jail. A fucking incredible band, tight as fuck. The Bass RIP Paul and drummer really give Mondays a “groove”. The Oakenfold produced Pills , Thrills etc had a great sound to it with some proper tunes. Gods Cop, Kinky Afro, Loose fit, Denis and Lois, Holiday god it goes on 😂. Bummed though with Martin Hannett RIP on production edges it for me. I was 14 in 88 and started hearing about the Mondays from fanzines. Never knew what Shaun was gonna turn up but didn’t give a fuck. A fantastic band and Shaun has gone on to do Black Grape , Gorillaz and is now in a sound place. National Treasure now. SWR. Legend.
I haven't a clue who Rowetta is either but I thought her musical "enhancement" of the track, though minimal, was pretty pivotal. Also I have to say that I spent the entire time watching her beautifully libido enhancing dance moves. The other brickie types playing instruments behind her and the lead singer had about as much charisma as my dying cactus.

Need more than talent to be a success as a singer. I know we may not be talking the same league here, but Nadine had the voice not Cheryl and yet Cheryl became the solo star. Rachel from S Club 7 was more of a success than Jo or Lisa from STEPS.....
