That is the definition of rock and roll - no fucks given, all your mates on stage. And they could play. Happy Mondays I salute you. Anyone lucky to be there that night, that is British music at its best.
I seen them on that tour. The most CUNTED band in the world. I was doon the front 4 foot from Bez and asked for a Marraca. He never even looked or answered. Nuggets. Brilliant
Sadly when i saw the Mondays live in 2009 Bez couldn't get into the USA and wasn't there. Some footage from when i saw them. The sound isn't the greatest but the show was amazing. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-AohOp9Ts78k.html
Love it when Paul steps on his lead. Bass drops out but sounds even better when he picks it up! Best Mondays footage ever. Manchester vibes in the area!
The band who partied as if the party would never end! The Mondays were one of the truest examples of the wonderful hedonism of rock and roll at its best. Brilliant.
Never underrated bro... gubb ACID then wait 2 years fir the Rave Scene to start. Raved 92 - 96. Mondays pre cursor to Rave scene. Acid then. Then somebody invented Exsascy!!
Probably the best place to catch them live was the states around 1990/91 - they recorded Pills n Thrills in LA and they'd probably try a bit harder live over there cos they knew that they were totally unknown
The Mondays always take me back to high school, I always loved all music and still do. The Madchester scene was massive at school in the UK back 88-92 ish. I loved it but also listened to everything from Mozart to Metallica and lots and lots of Acid House. Sonic youth and MBV etc as well. Was a great time for music then. Still good bands now like porcupine tree etc but a lot of stuff now and for the last 20 years is absolutely shit. Need a new generation of nirvana or the pistols to kick music in the arse atm. It’s been too lame now and twee for 2 decades. It’s all bling and mansions, piss off! Can’t wait for someone to come along and kick the system in the nuts.
Absolutely spot on. I'm stuck in the Madchester Vortex. I can't move on cuz it was that good. Call me boring but I'm in a good place when listening to this.
You speak some sense even though I'm older than you and lived through it as a young adult ( god the little fella's were pure 😉,) and mean no disrespect to you. You speak sense sir. Total respect, ♥️ from Salford ✌️🙌
I was there too! It was at Astroworld (long-gone theme park for those not from Houston). Dee--Lite were actually the headliners, but the Mondays stole the show!
this songs up there in my top 3 all times tunes, and I'm 50, fookin luvvit, proper raw, bet that C U next tuesday wouldnt let em on x twufter cos ya nah like, just in blubber or summat, musics well dead these daze, RIP Tony Wilson, Ian Curtis, mandem
This is fucking quality this! I'd of loved to of seen them live, bit before my time though i was only 9 in 1990. By the time i'd dropped my first gary it was 1995 these had well finished, and was i into happy hardcore by then , All stems from this though. Fucking Love it
in Denver at Gothic Theater, favorite tune, had not heard it live, it’s even more amazing live, don’t remember sound or songs from show. got that pills tee shirt.
Oh yeah, I saw this too in the early 90s on Super Channel (living in the Netherlands), and their stoned performance made quite an impression. Love it how Shaun and Rowetta are doing in this song and sooo funny at the end where Paul's making a move to give his guitar to someone in the audience (luckily prevented by some crewmember). :-D
That Rowetta is a pretty hard 'b' too.! Had to be init', on tour with the fuckin' Mondays! She nearly knocked my block off in the Press Club Manchester over 20 years ago. Almost did, on the 'cusp'. But no blood got split. Indeed nearly though. very nearly. As standard antics peruse inevitably there was the steady flow and overall intervention of alcohol and drugs. (lots) Pissed up and (most likely drugged too) boozed to the max scuffle ker-fuffel. We all apologised ato one another after the account, so it was alright in the end. Love to Row as always. And of course B EZ Man and the main main Ryders. Of the 'storm'. And no question Mark. Good riffin' on that Tele' though I must say! Proper Caster. Just like a 'spell'. Is cast. Or shadow for that matter. LOVE AAAA LOVE
And for those who asked is that Keith Allen, if you listen to Rowetta, she mentions everyone's name in the song whos on the stage, Bez he knows it, shaun he knows it, paul he knows it, Keith Allen knows it.......durrrrrrrr
Yeah ya can hear her mention em on her backins..i met Keef bout 8-9yr go an 4got to menchun this gig, gutted, but i was fuckin mashed...seen these lads play a few times, V, Glastonbury, Madchester, Wales fuckin top band
