My god i was 12 when this came out ...One of the most criminally underrated films of all time ....and possibly one of the best soundtracks ever ....it made a splash here in scotland when it was released but didn't seem to translate to other markets ..such a shame ....."what about Glenn Miller"🤣🤣🤣
I went to Scotland on my honeymoon. BC tape in the rented car... My heart, my soul, my senses never left Scotland. It's like having visited home without the chance of returning here. Scots I love ya! I love your country! I love Big Country! Miss ya Stuart.
I was an extra in a film being shot in Glasgow last year and got talking to another extra, an older guy , he told us he was in this film , one of the police officers trying to round up the sheep, said it was an amazing experience being involved with it .
Blimey - i didnt know ...thanks for letting me know .....so sad ...this film was ..still is a big part of my life ..😢😢 ....maybe wolfman is hiding out in penny cuik still
Happy days 🍻 I feel so lucky to have grown up with the 80’s as undoubtedly mine. Big Country never got the recognition they deserved imo. And not hearing them on todays radio is a huge loss. Great film as well. ❤️
I watched this as kid in the 80s a lot. I had taped it off Channel 4 (I think)... I watched it in the early 00s on a VHS I bought on ebay for far too much money and then was elated to see it make its way to DVD a year or so later.... Out on Bluray in 3 days and I feel excited like a child to see this in HD on a modern TV, will be the closest I'll ever get to seeing it in the cinema...
This is my Fav Big Country song. Just Love the Riff and Stu's voice. Named my son Robert after it. I have never really cared for much as i have suffered with addiction like Stuart. But i can say without doubt and fear, his lyrics and music are very special to me. May he now rest in peace. If he died in a combat zone box him up and leave, if he died and still came home lay him where the rose is sown. My Respect to him and his
One of my favourite films ever and the Big Country soundtrack (especially the track with this clip) is possibly the best thing they ever did. This track brings me out in goosebumps every time. I brought my copy of the DVD on Princes Street, the very street they are riding down as a mark of respect! RIP Stuart Adamson
i love this film...i first saw it on its television debut in the 80s and it has stayed with me ever since. fantastic music and a great film...thanks goes to UTAHWRX for posting it up...great memories.
@Familydayout2 Its a savage tune, from an amazing band. I have been a fan since the 80's and mourned Stuarts passing. This is my fav tune from the band. Respect ti you
240 years we lived Without hope and without pride So who will know where they come from? Who'll raise a torch for those who died? I will be with them In the summer sun and the winter snow They will come and crowds will go And show that we are proud again! Powerful lyrics from Big Stu - was always a Yes man! Alba gu Brath!
I have always loved this tune but never really thought about the lyrics... By reading them out aloud without the music, Ive just discovered the significance.
I saw this film on ebay for £75 years ago when it was deleted, and copied mine to dvd for a few fans, one being the lead actors relative. Met great friends through that, naturally i stopped and was glad to see they released it on dvd which i also bought!!
The songs of "Big Country" usually give me a quiet pride in being a Scot. "Restless Natives" belongs to another class altogether. When I hear it I want to march down the street in a kilt, with my face painted as a saltire, waving a huge lion rampant and reciting the Declaration of Arbroath.

Just watched this again after seeing the clip... absolutely awesome... best line " we could go in to hiding in PENICUIK"...(THIS WILL MEAN NOTHING TOO 99% OF YOU ) Brilliant soundtrack stunning scenery.. The scottish film industry used to make loads of these great films comfort and joy , local hero , gregorys girl too name but a few.. Anyhoo R.I.P. Stuart Adamson this film wouldnt have been half what it is without you and BIG COUNTRY
Arguably Stuart's greatest 'classic' Big Country composition. Especially considering it was written at extremely short notice, and at a time of great personal and professional turmoil.
I am in the States, and searched high and low for this movie.....feckin brilliant.....Restless Natives was one of the coolest songs the bhoyos did!!!!!!! Stuart was the coolest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an awesome film, it reminds me so much of my teenage years, great escapism, Fantastic soundtrack, from Big Country (god rest Stuart) met him in TOWER records glasgow in the early nineties, what a really nice guy. I recommend Everyone watch this film, Scottish or not, although a lot of the Humour would be lost on non scots,
Glad somebody posted this. One of Big Country's best and most stirring anthems. The full 33-min. soundtrack is available on CD, but this song alone was originally issued as the b-side to the "Look Away" 7". I've probably played my copy of it over a hundred times!
My fave non metal song from my fave non metal band. Must admit I felt a little sad when I heard of Stuart Adamson's death. One of the all time great guitarist in my opinion.
This os the best film and song ever I love big country it’s more Scottish than bloody haggis neaps and tattys ❤️❤️❤️🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴

"We may never know who they were, and now, nobody can tame them". . . . ."Look, i don't know who's down there, i just picked them, i don't have the support of a family unit to back me up. . . I've got to do things on my own" . . "They're here, they're here, they're right here in the town" . . .rip Stu.
Big Country are the band (of course). The movie soundtrack is one of the best things the band ever did. "Restless Natives" is a track on the album "Restless Natives & Rarities". The track Restless Natives is 34 minutes long and is beautiful. It's not an easy album to find in the shops but places like HMV will order it for you.
Man how underated were this band and how good is this film... Funny seeing the bike hurtlin through Edinburgh... Thanks for posting probably Big Countrys best song... God bless Stuart and Big Country . R.I.P bIG MAN
restless natives is a film to watch when you have had a drink an think when you watch im so proud to be scottish and want to go an get a couple of masks an a motorbike an do it yourself lol clown an the wolfman always lives in the scottish hearts for what we wish we could do
Thanks for posting this clip. I'm a huge Big Country Fan. I bought this movie when they released on dvd last year simply because Big Country did the soundtrack. Turns out the movie was enjoyable. It's not one that you'd go to theater for, but rent and you'd enjoy it.
Big Country was a creative and original group of artists. It was a sad day when Stuart Adamson died. I followed them from 1983 to present. Being an American and living in the U.S., I rarely heard there music on the radio. Just as well, I never wanted them to sell out. They instilled pride in my Scottish Heritage, and exposed in there music, especially, "Steeltown" and the "Buffalo Skinners", the corruption in politics. "We're Not In Kansas", and "The Selling of America" are spot on.
I remember standing in Princes Street this movie being made I remember going to see this movie really put Scotland and Edinburgh on the map I was only 13 when this movie was made.
Brilliant!!!! Not seen this for years!!! And so amongst these rocks he lived, through summer heat and winter snow. The eagle he was lord below, and Rob,he was lord below.
i went for an interview in Fort William to be an extra in this film. i was one 3 Scotsmen interviewed that day. the bloody German tourists got the job! lolol
