Bought this January of 2020 for hurricane season here in TEXAS. Tested it via 30amp plug to my eletric panel. Powered whole house, did not try to power central AC. Just had the freeze this week and the city lost power for about 3 days. Took generator out filled her up and started on second pull. We had heat when the temperature outside was below 20 degrees. Worked all 3 days without issue. Great buy I would recommend it to anybody.
I have the 8750 hf gen, I wanted to know what it would do, hooked to my panel, turned on everything including a/c minus washer and dryer, no problem, gen barely felt it, but watch it with the microwave, huge drop for a few seconds but caught back up for the most part, pulled it off couldn’t believe it, if it’s summer and you need to use microwave just shut down the a/c for the time being.
Thanks for the video. I have the same generator, and while I’d love to purchase American made products, I had to buy what was the best deal for me. When I broke mine in, I added a few squirts of oil in the spark plug hole to lubricate the top end. The first run with no load was for an hour before I drained and refilled the oil. The oil came out very dirty. I changed it a second time and ran it for about two hours before changing it again. The oil was much cleaner, but still was a little dirty. After the third change, and about 25 hours of run time with about a 50% load to seat the rings since, the oil is staying very clean. I’m an old engine and motorcycle guy so I consider the break-in period essential for engine life.
Yeah MAN! That's the one thing he didn't get into detail with. The manual does have pointers on break-in. But this being a "new product review" from out of the box to running a few hours, the break-in should be highly stressed on do's and do not's.
@@k6outdoors great tutorial my dude, but where I live, the ambient temperature is about 17 degrees Celsius minimum to 22 degrees Celsius in the evening. Even if synthetic oils are great, there's no need to use them at all and I can get 2 jugs of mineral oils instead of a single jug of synthetic oil. However, I would still go for diesel engine oils, since these oils are formulated for long drain and to work with Deutz air cooled diesel engines. I regularly use Shell Rimula R4x 15w40 HDEO API ci 4/sl in my generator as thicker oils are recommended
I bought one of these back during the summer to have in shtf situations or other! Lost power due to high wind so I got her out oiled her up and wired her to house! She ran about 30 min before power came back on later next day! I'll soon get her out and run her a bit more ad do a oil change! Predator should make these dual fuel!!!!! I'm diggin the positive reviews for these!
I bought the same generator last April and put a quick disconnect to my breaker box. Works great! Will run everything in the house including the well pump and the hot water tank. But not at the same time. But I can live with that.
Always a great idea to have a generator. You'll love it. Just do us a favor and don't take it camping, unless you're not around other people. Loud generators (compared to the quiet inverter generators that run at 56-60 dBa) while we're camping drive us crazy! :) We did a whole video on it. But you'll love this for when you need power at home!
@@k6outdoors Yep - that's happened. We're running our quiet 56 dBa Honda and shutting it off at 9 PM to keep camp quiet, while a neighbor pulls in with a crazy loud generator and runs it all night long. :)
I have a Predator 6500 and these are absolutely amazing machines, great generators - definitely best bang for your buck. The only thing i wish these came with is a total watt/amp consumption meter. Wired mine to the house and no more extension cords now during extended power outages.
Bought one after hurricane Ida. It ran almost continuous for about 7 days without a hitch. Fuel consumption dropped 2 gallons a day after a few days when the engine broke in. I assembled the wheel kit and installed battery and filled crankcase with oil on the tailgate of my pickup in the dark. Fired right up and put it to work at 11pm.

Nice! Good luck finding one of those during a Hurricane or major snow storm...”been there tried that” ended up spending twice as much on a less powerful Generac model...reminds me, I probably need to go run it for a while...great video!
Thats a nice generator that came with a really expensive 10mm wrench lol on a serious note though it looks and sounds awesome. I have a craftsman generator i bought a few months ago for hurricane season and didn't even need it this year for hurricanes. I have used mine a few times though. They really come in handy at times
Agreed! I've seen several people let them sit for 5 years and then they start on the first pull and some claim to have thousands of hours of run time! I hope I have the same luck. Thanks for watching!
It works great. They have additional aprons to purchase, one is the black storage apron. Make sure to buy that one, so you can set up your generator before the store and protect it.
NOTE -- Don't let the gas sit in the tank. I have cleaned so many carbs with bad gas in them. Make sure the carb is also empty. Put the gas in when you need to run it. great video.

The oil change interval at 20 hrs is more to do with the fact that the oil is not filtered rather than the quality of the oil. Non filtered oil will keep circulating any crap round the engine and causing excess wear.

I get they power the entire house, but using gas @ 8gals/13hr with 50% load? That's over 10gal easy per day... Depending on the emergency if the gas station not open or no power.... Storing 100gal fuel might be serious issue for many?
You make a fair point on fuel consumption and yes depending on the situation you might not have any fuel within many miles of your property. In my area we use LP as a primary source of fuel for heating our homes so I could run a line to that and run it off of that with a conversion kit, but I would rather not drain that tank as well. The ideal solution would be to have a system like my in-laws where they have a standby generator plumbed directly into natural gas. Last year they were able to run 2 weeks straight to power their property after a massive storm came through. That being said, I do keep the generator full of fuel at all times and an additional 5 gallons of fuel on hand. I make the assumption I can run the house if needed, but its primary need is for cycling the freezers and refrigerator as needed and in the winter heat, so we can stay warm. Thanks for stopping by!
If you haven’t studied it yet. When you connect to the house you will pop gfci breakers on generator for having two bonded grounds. You will have to break bond in generator. Might save you a headache later.
Hi you shouldn't break in a small engine with synthetic oil, it's too slippery for a good break in. Use regular oil for the break in then you can use a good synthetic oil. When it's time to shut down your generator just shut off the gas cock from the tank and let her run out of fuel. It's best for your carb that way and it will always start great later. Just saying.
Good point, NEVER let gas sit in a carb/bowl on seasonal equipment as it will tarnish the carburetor and it's components. Gas is a good solvent untill it sits still for a lengthy period of time. A fuel stabilizer will help fight this as noted in the manual. If you don't have stabilizer, drain the fuel out, then start it, let it run the fuel out of the bowl untill it starts stalling and quickly blast it with a couple good shots of carb cleaner. An old go cart racer tought me this trick to keep your carbs clean and ready for the next time you need dependable power!
Thanks for stopping in, it does say on the instructions that unconditioned electrical output can damage sensitive equipment. It says do not use to power sensitive electronics unless using a line conditioner. From my understanding the only real way to have completely clean power is to have an inverter style generator and those are substantially more. I plan to install a line conditioner and already have surge protectors as an added line of safety
I don't have a wave type device to see that, but I do use a usage meter to check the hertz/frequency. From my testing, the fluctuations are only off about 1+/- for each. I'm working on a video showing this. Should be completed in a couple months.
Late to the party. But how many things did it end up running? My mom is on oxygen and a heart monitor.. I was impressed with first pull, don't need any more hassles.really likes how you went over the whole item and showed where everything is was. Did you make a video on how to hook up Appliances etc? Hey thanks for stopping by! I have not made a video of it being hooked up to everything. There are regular 110 volt out lets and then the larger 30 amp connections. Its not necessarily how many things it can run but how much power it supplies. Each item pulls uses so many watts, so you'd have to figure out or look up what each unit uses. This is a 9000 watt generator and will run basically everything in a house aside from most water heaters and large appliances such as electric stoves and central AC units. Hope this helps

If your plugging it into a transfer switch or breaker box you should be grounded by that system. If using it in a standalone configuration it needs to be grounded to be deemed safe, per the instructions. That is my understanding and you should follow the manual.
With or without ethanol fuel will still spoil. It's an added layer of protection to make sure the fuel stays fresh in situations like this were the generator may rarely be used. Thanks for stopping in
@@k6outdoors Gotcha. Some are suggesting turn fuel switch off and allow engine to run until remaining fuel burns out of carburator, also preventing gumming. Any thoughts on that?

I was going to buy their inverter the one with over 8,000 watts but it has more technology in it and I rather keep it simple and have something that I can service later on. Can’t go wrong with a simple generator and especially for one this size. I’m looking into getting a tri fuel conversion kit so I can run it with natural gas and i want to buy an enclosure for it
We bought our Predator 9000/7250 watts generator in Aug. of 2020 for $599 with coupon. It's crazy how much it has gone up in a years time. It's still a great price though, compared to other generators with the same wattage.
I dont have a similar Champion to compare it to, but when I was doing some research it was around $150 more for a similar unit with a battery. I cant speak to the reliability of the Champion brand but everyone seems to rave about the Harbor Freight Generator. I got mine with the Wheel kit and tax for $620 out the door. That is compared to a $799 price tag plus tax on the champion. Granite the Champion comes with e 3 yr warranty and the Harbor fright a 90 day, but a 2 year can be purchased for $120 if you so choose to. The Predator generator draws comparison to the Honda branded units if that has anything to say about its power and quality. Thanks for stopping in.
@@k6outdoors If you get the chance, do a review on the $799 ($100 more) Champion7500/9375 (100813) from Home Depot. I would be interested to see how it compares to the Predator in real world. The Internet is just waiting for this review! The Champion is rated to be more powerful, quieter, and more fuel efficient; while the Predator has a larger fuel tank with more rated run time. The reputation for Champion is top notch and they are a US based company (manufacturing in China). Champion has had it's reputation for close to 20 years now and is known for excellent customer service. I have heard the Predator 9000 start-up in person and have first had experience with a couple Champion generators, but not a model comparable in size. I think you will find the Champion generators a small step up in fit/finish.
@@scottzettervall429 Id like to be able to do that at some point, but I really had to justify myself to get what I did haha. The same Champion unit with tax would be a little over $220 more than what I paid for mine. I had looked at the different reviews and everything seemed to be very equal, except for the 50 AMP plug which some people have debates if the generator has enough wattage to truly handle the 50 amp output. The other piece is that the nearest Home Depot is an hour away and Harbor Freight was 15 minutes, which helped make my mind up. Just maybe ill be able to do a comparison in the future!
Hi I just picked up the same generator I have a question when you did the three hour break in period did you change the oil after? I guess there’s metal flakes from that break in that you want to get it out of there. And that’s why you change it with a new fresh quart of oil.
@@k6outdoors I’m curious. The hour meter. Does it show a display while the generator is off or only while the generator is running. I’m just confused because that meter doesn’t have power/battery in it. How does it show a lcd display?
