I have the previous generation brushless 1/2" impact and it has been worth every dime I paid for it. It has done absolutely everything I've asked of it from lug nuts to breaking loose suspension and frame bolts. No regrets at all.
I bought that one with the charger and I love it. It does what I need done. The big ultra torque will do everything for UNDER $200. It's a 5 year warranty on the Burshelss Hercules. I'm going to Hercules for the price point at home.
I have the 3/8" version, and have been tempted by this one for smaller jobs. For big stuff I have the Milwaukee 1/2" High Torque or the Hercules 3/4" Ultra Torque.
I got both during that "buy a tool, get a 5ah battery free" deal. Honestly I regret it. They're both very similar in power, and so I use my 3/8 impact for most jobs. If I need to go bigger, I use a 3/8-1/2 drive adapter. If I need more power, I have my Ultra Torque for that. I would suggest you save a bit more money and get the Ultra or even thr High Torque for more power. If that compact 1/2 had significantly more power than the 3/8, I'd be happy, but they're ALMOST the same with the same tool size. Not worth it.
I do automotive for a living and own the Hercules 20v impact driver (5a battery) and 1/2" High Torque (8a battery). The impact driver is obviously good enough for light work, and surprisingly strong for some medium nuts and bolts with 1/2" impact adapters/sockets. I use the High Torque for anything beyond that. Has been enough power for my needs. Very satisfied with their products and like the peace of mind knowing I can just do an exchange at the store if one breaks. I'm also fortunate to not live in a state with rusted vehicles Their compact 1/2" Mid Torque is pretty weak. And when it does loosen something, I don't like the extended hammering. I used it briefly before returning it. Hopefully they make a stronger compact in the future Edit: I am now using the Dewalt DCF891 Mid Torque as well, with 5a Powerstack battery. Love it. Almost as strong as the High Torque, in a smaller size
The main thing to remember with the Hercules tools is that they need to say "Brushless" on them. If they say that, you get a 5 year warranty, otherwise you get a 90 day warranty on the brushed version. My only real irritation is that they split their line into 20V and 12V which can both be charged on the dual voltage charger. Still, it means messing with multiple battery types which is irritating.
These days you can always buy a battery adapter for all sorts of tool brands. They're $15-25 and you would be able to use your existing battery line with them.
I just got one yesterday to help remove an axle nut on a 2017 nissan frontier 2017 4x4 all I can say is don't break your wrist things caught me off guard for sure compared to the cheaper 1/2 it couldn't do it and I am too weak with a breaker bar to get that lose lol Hercules Ultra torque for the win I want the 3/4 for big boy jobs.
I have that Hercules torque wrench. And it will break the lugs off my ol' 2001 Tahoe, which surprised the heck out of me. But it only has like 500 ft lbs of torque. Eventually I want to get the Ultra Torque model. But for now, it will suffice. If I need anything more I always have my Earthquake XT air impact.
Speaking as a guy who uses the bigger version with high torque every day...yeah, it's worth it. I bought the impact gun and got the small impact free with the battery and charger. I use both all day at work. I got my tools stolen and had to replace my power tools, went from DeWalt to Hercules. So far I'm not unsatisfied.
The 4amp battery’s are supposed to be the best.. better cells and says they give more torque. Thanks for the videos.. please do some more videos on the Hercules line.. I am starting to build out my power tools.. I’m going with Hercules.. use to have dewalt and kobalt..
I bought 3 of the same 500 torque breakaway from 2 different stores and all 3 failed to remove a set of nuts torqued to 170. That's only 1/3 of the 500 that they claim. Highly disappointed. I bought 3.because I heard that they can be a hit or miss. I figured all 3 can't be bad, but I guess that's just the way they're designed. Yes I had the 4AH extreme performance battery and fully charged and yes I had it set at 3 the strongest setting, and no I had no adapters or extensions which people claim dissipates some of the torque. Took them all back the next day.
Another popular brand, Hercules, is actually exclusive to the home improvement store Harbor Freight and is manufactured by the company Global Machinery Company. Bosch, a brand known for its high-quality power tools, is owned by Robert Bosch GmbH, a multinational engineering and technology company based in Germany.Jul 20, 2023
I think the impact your showing in the video is the weakest Hercules 1/2" impact driver HF sales. The Ultra Torque 1/2" Hercules impact driver will probably crush the Dewault tool. All the brushless Hercules impact drivers come with a 5 year warranty, so I agree with you guys about the price and this Hercules impact being a good value for the money, especially for someone who is just starting out and mainly needs it for removing lug nuts.
That trash Hercules 1/2" impact mini couldn't even remove my BMW lug nuts torqued at 103 lbs. each. It struggled badly just taking one. My Milwaukee 1/2" impact Stubby took them out like butter! That Hercules mini impact is TOTAL TRASH and returned it back for a complete refund! The only Hercules tool I would highly recommend would be no other than their mighty 1/2" Ultra Torque Impact brush-less wrench power tool! That thing is a major ALTER BEAST!!!
For the size and power it puts out, Id recommend the 3/8 compact version. The 1/2 compact is a let down as its SLIGHTLY better in terms of power, but not by much. Get the Ultra or High Torque for 1/2 drive applications
Agreed. The compact Mid Torque 1/2" is not very strong. I briefly used it before returning it. Now using the High Torque with 8a battery Also using their impact driver which is surprisingly strong when used with impact sockets and adapters. I have wondered if the 3/8" impact would be similar to the impact driver/impact sockets combination
I have a suspension bolt from a Jeep Wrangler that has a Pittsburgh deep impact socket permanently attached to it. Been that way for better than a decade. 😂 Never could get them apart.
I got the charger and 5AH battery for $99 + tax, then got the 4AH battery as the 'free tool' - and will be using them with the new battery-powered, 2CFM vacuum pump...had to pay full price for THAT though - probably should have waited for a chance to get 15% or 20% off.
Maybe i got a lemon. But in my case this tool was no where near the torque advertised. Matter fact my triple hammer impact driver had to take the bolts off for it. But for the price, im sure its a good tool. Just my experience
I had a similar experience with it. I remember it could not take lugs off a 2006 Charger. I think that's when I decided to return it and go with the High Torque I also own their impact driver which is surprisingly strong when used with impact sockets and adapters
@emmcee476 ya I've owned this tool and seen multiple opinions its no were near the torque it's rated for, a modern impact driver can do its job better. That's not me hating on hercules because I've used a few of theyre brushless tools and they are great for the price. But not this one
@@durantplayz7111 Today I actually bought the Dewalt DCF891 Mid Torque with the 5a Powerstack and it is definitely as strong as the feedback all around says. Easily removed newer F150 lugs I'm still very happy with my HF impact driver and 1/2 High Torque. But it is nice to now have something with decent power and more compact
