The fence has a second mount/pivot spot in front, so your material can fit at angle, past the saw. Look a little closer, theres a second pivot hole and a second hold down lever hole. The first clue should have been the dual markings for 0 and 45 degree, for the fence angle. Bring the saw closer, youll get less wander and chatter. The reference markings for the fence pretty much align with the edge of the plate. For tool reviews, it would help if you comb thru the gear as closely as possible, prior to the vid. @@608fab Mine seems to cut better on the rear pivot, but that has limitations. Calibrating the saw was a pain, but I placed a digital level on the back/top, facing me, with chain engaged. Once I cut some box, I could flip the box 180 degrees to each face, and see how badly it was out. I then adjusted the angle with the 3 bolts on the back of stand, noted angle meter readout change. Cut another piece, transpose to check fit, adjust to taste. This method also works to horizontal plane. You just flip the boxes on the other plane and check. If close, turning the rear knobs to adjust that axis, will get you close. I've taped off one knob and remove saw by the other. This keeps me from having reset the centerline each time. If you cut the bolt going thru the handle of the saw (flush with nut). You can remove the saw with just the one bolt, rather than screw up the mount bracket alignment. Just remember to install the bolt from the side that has more offset to the saw. At any rate, thanks for the vid. Im using the larger hercules saw on speed one, to cut steel. Less pressure= less blade deflection and heat. I dont know if much of this applies to other brands of saw...
Just something I thought of. I have used it quite a bit now. Forced things a few times and bound it up once cutting some tube and didn’t have any issues yet.
Update: I have broken and jumped a lot of blades off the saw. None of them have hit me but one did get uncomfortably close to my face. I now wear a face shield rather than just safety glasses when using the saw.
I had it in the right way from the underside but the way the saw it sits in the mounting clamps on the handle end the lever wouldn’t reach the trigger. I have played with some adjustments but final got it cutting perfectly straight and I ain’t messing with it to get the lever “installed” correctly and having to adjust all over again
Just bought the Hercules 11amp Portable Band saw. Looks like this Bench top stand would compliment it well. In the horizontal (chop) position, If you remove the hydraulic strut, will it cut with just the pull of gravity ? Thanks for the video!
You know I have not tried that to see if it will gravity feed itself without the strut. I haven’t picked up a clamp yet but once I do I will certainly try that. Great idea!!!!
