Trigger warning for all the fanboys and girls out there! It seems Harbor Freight has made a deal with a US manufacture to make brands like Chief and ICON in the states. Lets see what else they have in store throughout the year. What do you think of the 7 in. Inline Wire Stripper and Cutter 59152 PSWIN ? I think i may have gotten a very early set as the laser etching on the head is not right.

Not ‘six thirty-second’ and ‘eight thirty-second’ screws. They are 6-32 and 8-32. They are 6 gauge 32 threads per inch and 8 gauge 32 threads per inch screws.

Thanks for the info! No one has ever educated me on that before, glad you shared that knowledge.

I think the screw cutter works better when the keeper part of the thread is threaded into the threaded jaw of the tool, and the cutoff end is in the not threaded jaw.
@valleygrown_dieseltech3444

It better if you thread it the other way too

Yep. I hear this a lot and it is not real important but it drives me crazy. I used to work for the federal government in an electronic installation crew and when we heard somebody say that we knew he didn't know much. I am forgiving with the general public because it depends on their level of experience. But get this, One day I was watching Ask This Old House and one of their experts, I think it was the plumber, said 10 32nds. I thought he should have known better.

Great to see that HF starts producing tools in the USA! I hope they will continue! I definitely will get me such wire stripper and hope they will be coming up with more American made tools in future!

It's definitely not their first and hopefully not the last either!

Harbor Freight doesn't produce tools. These Icon strippers are the same as Snap On. They are rebranded by both. Southwire makes these and are rebranded by SO and HF.
@thegaragehub
@thegaragehub Год назад
@@therealmillerman All three brands have a similar set. The Snap On strip smaller gauge, the Southwire strip Romex and the ICON strip larger gauge. So who is the actual manufacturer?

I know snap on makes 2 different versions of this same tool for different gauge wires.

Looks like you put the screws in from the wrong side. The side with the threads should hold the part with the head.

@@thegaragehubnot only designed to keep the bolt in place, when you back it out it acts like a dye to remove burrs and get the threads right when you back it out
@PTRRanger951

Screw the screws in from the front, not the back. It’s threaded on the front only. That is why when you cut them, you had to unthread the cut part out. If you screw them in from the front, the screw will stay there and be easier to unscrew and the cut piece will fall free.
@thegaragehub
@thegaragehub Год назад
That makes a whole lot of sense, clearly I don't use that feature 😂

@thebackwoodsmechanic5029

Similar to Southwire USA as well. You threaded it backwards. Thread it via the opposite side to cut it and the threads will straighten up when you remove the screw
@thegaragehub

Honestly I like the look of the Southwire set because they do the Wounded Warrior project. Thanks for the tip!

HF has sold USA products for years, but it is wonderful to their house brands being made here too.

you got lucky, you should thread in the other side, if you do it the way you did and do a short cut... it wil be VERY difficult to remove the buried offcut that is still threaded in the receiver
